Solidarity Against Anti-Activist Raids and Grand Juries

Posted 11 years ago on July 28, 2012, 12:50 p.m. EST by OccupyWallSt

don't talk to the FBI

via the Committee Against Political Repression:

On Wednesday July 25th, the FBI conducted a series of coordinated raids against activists in Portland, Olympia, and Seattle. They subpoenaed several people to a special federal grand jury, and seized computers, black clothing and anarchist literature. This comes after similar raids in Seattle in July and earlier raids of squats in Portland.

Though the FBI has said that the raids are part of a violent crime investigation, the truth is that the federal authorities are conducting a political witch-hunt against anarchists and others working toward a more just, free, and equal society. The warrants served specifically listed anarchist literature as evidence to be seized, pointing to the fact that the FBI and police are targeting this group of people because of their political ideas. Pure and simple, these raids and the grand jury hearings are being used to intimidate people whose politics oppose the state’s agenda. During a time of growing economic and ecological crises that are broadly affecting people across the world, it is an attempt to push back any movement towards creating a world that is humane, one that meets every person’s needs rather than serving only the interests of the rich.

This attack does not occur in a vacuum. Around the country and around the world, people have been rising up and resisting an economic system that puts the endless pursuit of profit ahead of the basic needs of humanity and the Earth. From the Arab Spring to the Occupy movement to now Anaheim, people are taking to the streets. In each of these cases, the state has responded with brutal political repression. This is not a coincidence. It is a long-term strategy by state agencies to stop legitimate political challenges to a status quo that exploits most of the world’s people.

We, the undersigned, condemn this and all other political repression. While we may have differences in ideology or chose to use different tactics, we understand that we are in a shared struggle to create a just, free, and liberated world, and that we can only do this if we stand together. We will not let scare tactics or smear campaigns divide us, intimidate us, or stop us from organizing and working for a better world.

No more witch-hunts! An injury to one is an injury to all.

American police actions against legal protesters is getting world wide attention as well as world wide condemnation - as illegal acts of repressive government and as violations of international law.

The Powers That Be in the governmental structures of the USA are becoming recognized as the hypocrites that they are as well as the criminals that they are.

Do as I say and not as I do - ( USA policy ) - becoming very well exposed for the whole world to see.

  • Wait! Stop the music.
  • These evil-doers are reading literature?

  • That is the evidence?

  • Don't like their political ideas?

  • We live in a time of growing crisis, both conomic and ecological

  • It seems that if the powers that be were as interested in protecting a citizen's right to petition the government to redress grievances as it is to make sure people can have any and all the weapons they want . . . and if those "representatives" actually represented and listened to those citizens, maybe it would be a better place.

One day in the not to distant future, these victims of political oppression will be viewed as heroes by a grateful nation. Solidarity.

Marching under the banner of Occupy does not justify any subgroup's actions any more than any federal government agency's actions are justified done under the banner of the American flag.

Black bloc and similar groups that use violent confrontation, and property destruction, under the deceptive title "diversity of tactics", are a clear violation of the non violent methods embraced by the majority in Occupy and should not be supported.

I will not stand with or support any group that calls for "a just, free, and liberated world" but uses unjust, violent, and tyrannical methods to attain it, no matter which banner they fly.

  1. I don't know what world you live in but we as Americans are not being oppressed, unless of course it was something you did.
  2. I have no idea how you assign corporations to a dictatorship
  3. Believe it or not but corporations provide you with things you use everyday.
  4. Causing riots will not benefit our country, the gov't knows that we have economic problems. It's kinda their job
  5. Stop pretending to be victims when you live in a great country like America. Go to a country where there is an actual dictator and then you can be a victim and complain.
  6. There will always be inequality in levels of income

So the American gestapo can raid one's home, detain the person, perhaps even arrest him/her as a terrorist simply because of ideology, assorted reading material, and various suspicious items of clothing. I want to hear that refrain again: land of the free, if one agrees with the ruling class.

Oh, partisans of whatever sort, repeat how your favored candidate will make a difference.

I wonder - can retailers be held for questioning (?) if they sell items of clothing that are black? Wait a minute - Is wallfart a supporter of Black bloc? Who knew? Will the Waltons be disappeared?

[-] 0 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

Oh, no, not Walmart; that's definitely 1%: the nation's largest exploiter, er, employer outside of the federal government.

Those minimum-wage people don't know how to handle their money. Otherwise they'd be on the big rock candy mountain drinking from the lemonade spring.

I owe my soul to the company store.

[-] 1 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

Sixteen tons and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt...

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

How times have changed ( NOT ) - ( well kinda ) - ( problem is ) - ( now the world is being run like the company store by corpoRATs ) {:-(

Ever see night of the living dead? Replace the zombies with corpoRATists - still did not change anything in the movie - Hey?

[-] 2 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 11 years ago

My family came from Spencer, West Virginia--right in the heart of Appalachia. People are the same, only the surroundings have changed. Two classes have populated our society since the Industrial Age gripped America: the exploiters and the exploited.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Sounds like - long past time for a change.
