Holiday Firesale of the Occupy Wall Street Poster to Fund the Next Social Wave

Hey all you messengers, wildcats and dreamers,

What is our one demand?

It's been two years since a bunch of us scraggy homegrown neo-anarchists took Zuccotti and sparked Occupy Wall Street. All across the world everyday people still remember those magical moments when #OWS held life in suspension and every dream seemed wildly within reach.

This year, we are commemorating the Occupy generation by offering, for a limited time only, posters and canvas prints of the iconic Occupy Wall Street poster. The proceeds of your donation will go towards an activist fund managed by Occupy Solidarity Network board members Priscilla Grim, Justine Tunney, and Micah White. Your money will go towards supporting movements for the common good.

Give the gift of spiritual insurrection, posters and canvases now available, click here to purchase.

In global solidarity with the 99%,

the board of the Occupy Solidarity Network,

Priscilla Grim

Justine Tunney

Micah White

The Occupy Solidarity Network is a 501(c)4 based in New York.

I marched and demonstrated and went to tent city in Liberty Plaza(Zuccotti) but I don't know what our one demand was. Is it another world? That's what I'll say when people ask me about the canvas print I bought.

Oh, please. You continuously fail to provide back up for your drivel. You continuously instigate arguments. You fail to examine what is in place and how it operates. You are anti union, anti education, and when all else fails you attempt to distract by throwing in war. Ya-you aren't transparent. What you do is provide a bunch of conspiracy theory crap.

''Detroit Will be Democracy's Decisive Battle'', by Glen Ford :

''To ensure that the city can never escape the clutches of capital, the contract would allow Barclay’s to immediately declare Detroit in default if Emergency Financial Manager rule is ended for any reason – that is, the corporate plan calls for the permanent cessation of democracy in Detroit.

''That’s the plan for the whole country. Wall Street recognizes that it cannot effectively consume the public sphere as long as the public retains the electoral democratic mechanisms to stop it. In other words, concentrated capital can no longer coexist with even the thin gruel of American democracy. The Black polity is the weakest link in the U.S. democratic armor. White folks won’t protect it, and Black folks have the least resources to defend it. The generals of Wall Street have purposely chosen Detroit as the decisive battleground, where the power of massed capital will be hyper-charged by an endemic, unreconstructed racism that can reliably be expected to deny that democracy is really at stake, at all. It’s just, you know – “the Blacks.''

~

That's where your good links ultimately led me and I feel a bit fkn furious about more than a few things as a result, right now. A woman's right over her own body and NOT to consider herself a brood-mare for anyone else is simply not negotiable, so reading : ''A controversial initiative that would require women to buy an additional rider on their health insurance if they wanted abortion coverage is one short step away from going to the Legislature, where it is likely to easily become law.'' is as infuriating as it is absurd.

Re. your second link about 'Petcoke' - those mthrfkrs, The Kochs and their 'PetKoch' as well as their psychopathic, selfish, greedy ilk, make me sick and that is another fkng infuriating story you link to & thus at the risk of further apoplexy, I'll append fyi :

People have got to get clued up, organise and start to resist but sometimes it takes it takes a bunch of c*nts shitting all over u for some folks to WTFU !!! Want to pop a gasket to o?!! Get a load of this shit !

Frankly, I'm too fkn angry to even excerpt that but I recommend that people read it. Talking about angry, howTF do YOU feel about HCHC9 (Yes, he's up to 9 now ffs !!) having his comments removed from here on this thread ?! Does that strike you as somehow reasonable ?!! I was in a hurry earlier but I am pretty sure he made a forum-post too but I suspect that he has been banned - again !!!

You replied in your own style but you did choose to engage him & his points, right ? He made his not unreasonable points (imo) and you made yours but you at least acceded to the dialogue but it seems that higher forum-powers have simply decided that our comments to him can stand but his comments must be removed - so, does that strike you in any way whatsoever as remotely fair ?!!

To say I am sick of this shit is to be instantly awarded a PhD in Extreme Underfkngstatement but I find myself curious as to your opinion re. the attritional behaviour directed at hchc and to a similar degree at Odin. You can take whatever they say and reply but you don't need to be 'protected', right ?!

So, GF - we've had our differences and have crossed swords more than once or twice BUT I have never doubted your affiliation for The 99% so in the spirit of OWS solidarity, I'm curious as to your opinion & am not so proud as to request your help in getting this bullying of hchc stopped and him unbanned. If I had been banned and had my comments removed for no fathomable reason as often as those cats, I'd have fukt right off from this forum a long time ago, so I do admire their tenacity and loyalty to The 99%.

Standing by when folk are getting bullied and badly treated is pretty chickenshit, bodes ill, shows us all in a bad light and is pretty far from OWS' m.o & can not be ignored without it reflecting on us all. I have got me a headache now ! 'Ding dong' = heated debate/argument, where I come from btw, lol & hmmm.

''The events of 2008 demonstrated that derivatives collapses, like other speculative financial events, behave as cascades of consequences, rather than orderly “resolutions.” Derivatives deals infest or overhang every nook and cranny of the U.S. and other “mature” economies, poisoning pension systems and municipal finance structures. Detroit has been rendered a failed city by the full range of derivatives and securitization. When the casino is the economy, everyone is forced to play, and the poor go broke first.

''Reformers of various stripes tell us that derivatives can either be regulated to a less lethal scale or abolished, altogether, while leaving Wall Street otherwise intact. That’s manifestly untrue. Finance capital creates nothing, reproducing itself through the manipulation of money. The derivatives explosion occurred because Wall Street needed a form of “fictitious” capital to continue posting ever higher profits, and ultimately, fictitious portfolios full of tradable bets. Derivatives deals are the ultimate expression of financial capitalism: they are primarily bets on transactions, rather than investments in production. The rise of derivatives signals that capitalism has run its course, and can only do further harm to humanity. The derivatives economy – all $1.2 quadrillion of it – is the last stage of capitalism.'' from :

Like erstwhile poster, 'PeterKropotkin', I rather like Glen Ford and question how he is - ''WAY behind the curve and WAY out of touch'' .. but you know ... maybe I just don't see things exactly like you. You may have spoken about PetCoke and The Kochs but is it a race ? If it is and you are so far ahead of the rest of us, you could be in real danger of showing the rest of us s l o w coaches nothing more than your ass.

I'm not questioning your links or your passion - just your judgement and your reading of 'How to win friends and influence people' and note that though GF of course can speak for herself in due course, that the second half of my comment above, still goes utterly unaddressed.

That ain't all that specific to Detroit. Plus it never mentions the set up by Engler.

All it really says, is that you prefer the ruminations of opportunist, to the facts and actual reporting I've been posting all along.

As far as Mr. Kropotin?

pfffft!

If he believes Ford. He's ill informed and ever further behind the curve. So why bother?

Unfortunately?

It appears you didn't read a single word of what I posted.

So I'll hang a couple of actual faces on the issue for you.

Interesting NOC article, shadz. But in regards to the call for action for next year from Anonymous, I wonder what they actually meant when they mentioned the "50th anniversary?" MLK was assassinated in '68, not '64. Possibly the passing of the Civil Rights Act, maybe?

What do you think about the comment by "frigate?" Interesting idea, I think. Not sure it's possible but it is intriguing.

[-] 6 points by shadz66 (19985) 10 years ago

''We the People can beat banksters and corporations at their own game. We can beat Wall Street with one simple, universally accepted act. Incorporate 300 million Americans and issue equal shares in the trillions of dollars worth of publicly owned resources like public lands, public airwaves, national parks, mineral resources, marine resources, public buildings, the Defense Department, the Intelligence Complex, Homeland Security, government institutions, and everything our taxes pay for.

''The ruling oligarchy's wealth and power are based on public labor and on the exploitation, privatization, control and legalized theft of public resources. Banks and corporations are the oligarchy's tools. But the public can use these tools to become the largest, most powerful bank and corporation against which all other private entities would have to compete. It would be owned equally by all. As a corporation we could protect our resources from privatization, pollution and trashing by other corporations that leave the public to pay the costs of cleanup.

''The dividends 300 million people accrue from existing and renegotiated leases and uses would lift everyone out of poverty. We the People Inc. can control wages, the proper use of our natural resources and we can hire and fire our management by equal votes at online stockholders meetings like any other corporate giant. The difference is that there would be no powerful majority stockholders dictating outcomes in their favor. In other words, we eliminate greed from the equation and substitute it for democracy, direct and decentralized.''

by 'frigate' (comments @ http://www.nationofchange.org/open-letter-35-1386087186 )

~

You're right 'gno' that April 4th 2014 = 46th anniversary of MLK but the principles behind any protests remain correct. 'Anonymous' may have called for the actions but the small mistake is down to DT. I'd not looked at the comments there after the link above, so I was initially confused by your reference to ''frigate'' but thank you very much indeed for bringing it to our attention here.

I like it very much and whereas I too am intrigued - I'm also sure it would be possible. It's just another angle on 'Nationalisation' as far as I can see but in 'market language' & it is summed up very nicely in the last sentence, with - ''there would be no powerful majority stockholders dictating outcomes in their favor. In other words, we eliminate greed from the equation and substitute it for democracy, direct and decentralized.'' We all live under varying degrees of 'democratic deficit' so, Viva OWS ! Viva The 99% !!

Truths from the mouths of liars are like affectionate platitudes from a serial killer and your fork-tongued hypocrisy requires total amnesia to be remotely effective. You, TrashyManqué - have done more than anyone to undermine the forum for the last two years with your sniping at jart for OWS' rejection of you & your little bits of computer-code from the early days in Zucotti Park, to even your signing off as other posters (eg Odin) & usurping other monikers (TIOUISE), to defacing posts, to posting indecent images and a myriad other such manipulations, mendacities and mean spirited shenanigans. You are a joke !!

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 10 years ago

Yes. It is. Average is $18,000.

A poverty pension as it is and they've already made cuts to their health care.

Considering the $100's of millions they're paying to adjudicate this, makes it feel like even more of a robbery.

But robbery is part what a tyrant does.

Actually, as I have explained to you repeatedly, the wages for all increase in states where unions are present. Now, do you need me to link you to that, again?

Also, as I have explained to you repeatedly, the Department of Education, takes care of this: OCR enforces several Federal civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination in programs or activities that receive Federal funds from the Department of Education. These laws prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin, sex, disability, and on the basis of age. These laws extend to all state education agencies, elementary and secondary school systems, colleges and universities, vocational schools, proprietary schools, state vocational rehabilitation agencies, libraries, and museums that receive U.S. Department of Education funds. OCR also has responsibilities under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (prohibiting disability discrimination by public entities, whether or not they receive federal financial assistance).
http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/know.html

Also, those little State rights that you pretend that you don't have...........well, you need to take your whining up with Florida on the ACA. Bet you took the free beer, eh?

You got nothing. Again.

What exactly is your one demand?

[+] -5 points by darmand (-15) from Williamsport, PA 10 years ago

Do you have a list of upcoming events for 2014? I'd like to know what the money will be used for. I might be placing an order of a 100 or so posters for ballet schools in my area.

I was also wondering - if the posters aren't printed yet and I do an order of a 100, could I ask for minor alterations in the poster? I'd like to remove the ghouls in the background and keep only the bull and ballerina. If you could sign the posters that would be really cool too!

Let me know. Cheers!

[-] -1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 10 years ago

I'd like to think they're just well-prepared revolutionaries, but now that you mention it, they do kind of look like a hoard of "the undead." ;-)

[+] -5 points by darmand (-15) from Williamsport, PA 10 years ago

Ya, the poster would be better without the ghouls. Ballerina vs Bull is all we need. It's unclear if the undead are gonna help the girl or the beast. I hate when there's extra stuff for nothing. Apart from that, the poster is gorgeous though. Really beautiful. Great play on imagery.
