Can you image a tea party person being told not to vote-
and then being stupid enough not to vote?

They have the money - and they use it
we have the people and the vote

Think about it - how much power do we want to give
to david & charles & willard & alec & the 1%

They have the money - and they use it
we have the people and the vote

The vote for what now? the dems are in,. they had full control for two years,. did they do anything of any use? did they change anything? Are any 1%ers in jail? Did they reverse the deregulation of hte banking industry,. the gutting of the EPA,. and on and on and friggin on,. the dems are as military/corporatist/bankster focused as the GOP,. what does voting get us?? ? Anything at all?

The two party system is a joke. not a funny one,. unless you are the 1% that set this sht up.

jph.... u ain't paying attention... the Treasury (under Obama's lead) is currently dismantling the big banking crooks ... and much more... Now I agree the two party system SUCKS .... we need to stand as Individuals,,, as Individual Thinkers ... aligning to no groups ...and be no Groupies (the original definition) ... but until we get Direct Democracy in place... We need to support the lessor of the evils

The 2 party system as it stands is a joke.

The idea should be vote people not party's.

Vote issues not party's.

Support people that support your issues and vote out the people that support greed corruption and crime.

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 11 years ago

DK, we ALL Agree ... we need to support Individuals ... Not Groupies ...

but ... when No Individuals are on the ballots ... what do we do ???? support the devil's themselves ??? ... We either got to get our shit together and build a Direct Democracy framework ... or support the lessor of the evils...

Sorry I missed your last reply - it looks as though this thread just got edited.

u know.... this IS our problem .... most of American's are IDIOTS ... We Are Not.... We See how It should be... but that will never get us past our own audience ....

I think We need to learn to play the game... just enough that other's can see it...

maybe we NEED to start a Political Party ... THE LAST POLITICAL PARTY ....

THE NOT GROUPIE PARTY .... http://midlc.com/beta/images/TGP.jpg

and make sure that it is known that ALL members MUST Stand on their OWN ....

MUST be their OWN Man or Woman .... With Their Own Ideas ...

what the Independents are trying to do .... but they do not have enough following to be a force ....

Why can't we together create a True Forceful Independent Party ?

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

There is no reason that it can not be done.

The failure of the independent party to date has been the failure of reaching out to the public.

To make it happen will take a major effort of reaching out and educating the public.

If you want support you need to point out the problems and then layout a plan to fix the issues. Common sense easy to recognize.

Point out failures and why they failed - show how this new party would do it different.

Would take air time as well as media coverage. To do in any sort of swift fashion - this means money to spend on ads on education.

Grassroots social media and word of mouth - not impossible but likely to take much more effort and time.

It can be done.

Will it be done?

We can only try.

While this is happening though we need to get the people involved in the process of democracy as it now exists. Then as the people get involved and participate they can see for themselves what is missing or wrong.

This will supply the necessary impetus to move forward together for positive change.

u hit it on the head... the real problem is that the Independents cannot get coverage w/o existing Party affiliation.... if fricking anonymous was as good as they claim they could hack the the networks with worthy candidates . hehehe ;) ... but WE the People do have the votes ... We need to organize enough ( a little ) ... that the thinkers & non sellouts will know that We would back them... then they would surface...we really do need an Occupy America Party ... but we need to call it something else ... just backed by Occupy... and things would change quickly ... and we just might stop Herman Goering's (and Karl Rove's) Divide & Conquer plan...

I see nothing wrong with breathing life back into the Independent party.

Use Bernie Sanders as a shining example. Give people a link to his news letter.

Hell He might even be a spokesperson.

I LUV Bernie Sanders ... but he calls himself a Socialist .... and I'm afraid that just won't work in America today .... the only spokesperson that could work is either OWS, Any Occupy, or Anonymous ... but Bernie is certainly an Independent Thinker & Supporter ;)

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well perhaps with Bernie's work record and his description of his view on socialism he might actually begin to educate people on how to have an open mind and view content and look at issues rather then look at popularity polls get past unfounded predjudice. People have got to start thinking for themselves.

Exactly - while we are building the direct democracy support of the people. We need to vote for the lesser of evils where we can not find a true champion for the people.

Individuals are on ballots. They are tied to corrupted political party's as that is how anyone gets into office right now.

If they are going for reelection look at their voting records - what have they supported and what have they voted against or were they worthless and abstained most of the time.

Newbies running for office will be harder to pinpoint as to their true standings unless they have prior public service to look at/into.

In the meantime I also support petitioning as a means to apply pressure to those in office. This also helps point out concerned people politicians and the corrupted as well.

The 2 party system is a joke. I agree. But the parties are vastly different. The dems have done only very little because the repubs have obstructed and used the filibuster at an historic level. The biggest problem the dems have is that they have moved to the right for 30 years, and lost their backbone when dealing with the right. The other problem is they lost the people being behind them. Pushing. We can do that, give them back their backbone and pull them back to the left. We are the change we've been waiting for. We are in this mess because we fell asleep.

We wouldn't want this to happen to a Democrat, would we?

That would stand against everything (the trolls) stand for.

The tea party is suicidal. They vote against themselves. When they crash the plane, they don't care that they are in it.

hmmm... how bout ... instead of an Occupy Party ... a simple..

Occupy Endorsed ... for Independent, Original & Truthful Thinking

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Occupy needs to be well liked prior to making endorsements. Unless of course the idea is to give a candidate the kiss of death.

[-] -1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 11 years ago

hmmm,.... well... to twist the words of a wise man a bit...

Occupy ..." might actually begin to educate people on how to have an open mind and view content and look at issues rather then look at popularity polls get past unfounded predjudice. People have got to start thinking for themselves. .."

;)

Hhmmmmmm sounds familiar - get past prejudice - educate - reach out to the public.

Hhmmmmmm - nope does not ring any bells.

But I do like the idea of getting past prejudice through outreach and education.

Gandhi? I know he made his own salt and was dead set against violence. I am sure he talked against prejudice though I can not recall anything specific at the moment.
