Forum Post: Yet Another Reason Why WASHINGTON Is the Problem

If anyone bothered to watch 60 minutes a few nights ago, they were discussing a disturbing fact that had me absolutely FURIOUS, a rage that took numerous hours of Halo: Reach and MW3 to shave off.

Our country's lovely laws that bar and prohibit insider trading, a practice by which stockholders can gain an unfair and, thus, criminal advantage in the stock market to the detriment of those they trade with...DO NOT APPLY TO CONGRESSMEN. Yes, you heard me right, Congressmen are completely IMMUNE from insider trading laws and prohibitions.

You come to believe, in a true American society, that we all agree upon laws and that ALL citizens abide by them. You thought that was the case? Nope, Chuck Testa... Congressmen are officially above the law now.

I've already despised how Congressional officials can dip into federal funding for their golfing trips, but this really brought my bloodstream to full boil.

Another piece of evidence why OWS is targeting the wrong people, and why WASHINGTON needs serious reform.

Congress is exempt from many laws that the riff-raff must follow: OSHA, TSA, EEOC, etc. As Orwell pointed out, some animals are more equal than others.

Yes, and that, to me, is a HUGE problem. Nobody should be above the law.

Yeah, that is f'd up. Congress is ridiculously corrupt.

FYI: I almost stopped reading after "If anyone bothered to watch 60 minutes a few nights ago" because this sounds accusatory.

And guess who was a recent recipient of this type of information? Nancy Pelosi, as Speaker of the House, actually directed legislation that would benefit her own pocketbook. Just more evidence that the people need to pass a Constitutional Amendment of laws directing the federal government and its employees exactly what they can and can't do.
