Why do we still have a gasoline-only automotive fuel monopoly!? Why!?

[-] 3 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

Because we won't, as a society, demand anything different.

The amount of bailout money our government has given the banks since 2008 is enough to put solar units at a value of $35k ea on every household in the country.

Now obviously this isnt practical everywhere, but the point remains.

And talk about stimulus. Zero out everyone's electric bills, and if they get electric cars, zero out their monthly gas bills. Electric scooters can go forever on a charge, its incredible.

But when you mention something about bailing out banks, and people think you are only referring to the 08 collapse- and dont want to think about pain to fix it, wanted to keep the present good and fuck the future- and they dont even realize its going on....

Well....

[-] 1 points by zzx375 (3) 4 months ago

What if people did ask for a hybrid automotive technology with an engine capable of running on multiple fuels as well as an electric motor (put solar panels on the top surfaces of the vehicle)?

Solar units on every house sounds good but in the parts of the country that see little sun throughout the year (Cascadia?) does that make sense. To repeat part of another post, how many administrations up to the present, have come and gone since the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo and we still have single-fuel automobiles that require a strategic commodity.

When we stop thinking in terms of miles per gallon and start thinking in terms of dollars per mile, the change will happen.

[-] 1 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

"When we stop thinking in terms of miles per gallon and start thinking in terms of dollars per mile, the change will happen."

Thats a very effective line. Are there any central information sources or a chart that would show the differences?

[-] -1 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

You can convert any gasoline vehicle to LP gas. It's quite popular in Europe.

Other than that? It's people like the Kochs, who are HEAVILY vested in gasoline.

[Removed]

[-] 0 points by zzx375 (3) 4 months ago

Yes, propane has been used sporadically as an automotive. But you still have the same problem if EVERYONE with an automobile converted it to propane. You would still have the single-fuel monopoly everything that goes with that. Further that doesn't move the automotive world in the U.S. to a zero-emission situation. Propane burns so clean that is used in fork lifts inside warehouse and where food processing occurs so that is a plus but other than that it doesn't solve the current problem.

The Kochs!? Oh yes evil and wicked and blah, blah. They have money so put them in the same bucket as Buffet, Gates, Soros, Mexico's Slim, the entire lot. However none of these millionaires have any more control over the oil produced by those countries who hate our way of life or merely tolerate it. What would happen to the OPEC countries if we ceased to buy their #1 strategic commodity?

How many administrations have occupied the WH since that phenomenon known as the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973? Right up to the current one an nothing has been done on this particular front.

Seriously!? Do you not realize how many administrations right to the current WH occupier and no progress on the single most tangible item

BWA hahahahaaaaaaa!

after all, that's what we call good business.

haaaaaaaahahhhaaaaaaaaaaaa

[-] 1 points by ZenDog (13421) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

now that is news

and when a global moratorium is in place on tar sands their property interests become a negative asset.

If it can ever be said that individuals of such immense wealth actually possess real estate that is a liability as opposed to an actual asset . . .

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

No one understand and accepts the damage that they do.

Preferring to attack governments that they influence instead.

That's a much easier target, and one that requires very little investigation.

They are simply in paralyzed awe of what these people have accomplished and are still doing.

they just can't accept and understand it.

[-] 0 points by ZenDog (13421) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

They are simply in paralyzing awe

Really? I thought most of them were simply ignorant of the accomplishments of the Koch Machine - it's just that it seems to me that to be aware of those accomplishments and yet stand in awe rather than turn away in revulsion demands a certain envy, an envy that leads directly to complicity in the degradation foisted upon our society, and the ecosystems of the only planet in the universe we call home . . .

[-] 0 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

I was thinking, more like the paralyzing awe of the Incas, when they stared in disbelief at those ships on the horizon.

They just couldn't analyze what they were seeing, so it didn't register in their brains.

The Koch machine is pretty all encompassing of their libe(R)tarian ideology.

I've gotten to the point that I don't trust anything that uses the term libertarian anymore.

[-] 1 points by ZenDog (13421) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

Even the term Liberty has become suspect since it so often falls from the lips of the deluded libertarian grassroots fools

[-] 0 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

Watch in horror as they continue to pretend that "free markets" are a possibility.

[-] 1 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

Freedom comes in levels, including the market aspect, depending on whats someones opinions are.

Some consider this a free market. Others a centrally controlled disaster. Others think its somewhere in the middle.

Whats your take?

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

Free markets are a logical impossibility.

It's got nothing to do with opinion.

It's got nothing to do with a "take".

[-] 1 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

For the millionth time, its a matter of level, not a totality. Why is this so hard to grasp for people?

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

Because at ANY "LEVEL", they are still impossible.

Why is that so hard for you to grasp.

Unless of course you are the libe(R)tarian you refuse to admit you are.

But then, truth was never your strong point hchc. Lies are.

[-] 1 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

I'm afraid you are missing the entire point. Its not about totality, as in impossible vs possible.

Are 100% free markets locked?? No. Are there methods to get to close to that point? Of course.

Freedom with anything is a goal, is a concept, its something to strive for. Its not a spot that once you are there, you are there. Its dynamic. Its complicated.

I would ask you that if you believe it is 100% impossible, and not worth striving to find a good balance, then what is your solution?

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

I didn't miss a thing.

You might as well be saying Daffy Duck is real.

Free markets are an impossibility. Accept that simple fact. Anything else is a lie.

[-] 1 points by bullfrogma (448) 4 months ago

What makes you think that? I'd help me believe you if there was a reason.

And what about a socialist market? Is that free?

[-] 1 points by JGriff99mph (507) 4 months ago

"I would ask you that if you believe it is 100% impossible, and not worth striving to find a good balance, then what is your solution?"

So....?

[-] -3 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

It's not a question of percent, it's not a question of opinion.

Free markets are not impossible.

They can't exist.

Any market, once created, has controlling interests and is therefore not free. It can't be.

Freedom is a condition of life, not a construct, not a mineral, not a commodity. Only life.

There can be NO FREE market.

Markets are not alive, unless you agree that corporations are human.

Then suppose their controlled markets would be alive by proxy, but still not free, in any true sense of the word.

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

They will twist and turn and tell you it's a matter of opinion.

It isn't.

They are an impossibility.

[-] -1 points by ZenDog (13421) from South Burlington, VT 4 months ago

they are like a bunch of school yard bullies, pushing, shoving, cajoling, and laughing as if of course they are right and if not it doesn't matter cuz the rest of us can go along and, they insist, we will . . ..

fuk them

I'd like ta pass the hat. Take up a collection for the behind the scenes party leadership. I'd really like ta see them fukers ushered on ta the next world just ta watch their fukin minions squirm . . .

That would be better than prime time tv.

.

I was over at hubski. there are a couple of subtle mutherfukers over there. One posted a link to some clown who insists fossil fuel has hit its tipping point, and other forms of power are now cheaper - the article cites coal.

here's the author, Paul Gilding

The fukers argument begins here - basically sayz do nothing

and then he backs that up with the Gilding article.

and then the fool goes on to defend Dick Cheney . . . all as if it's perfectly normal

I deactivated my account - makes me wanna hack off heads

[-] -1 points by shooz (17816) 4 months ago

Subtle propaganda can be the most effective, but guys like this always seem to let on, by comments like the one on Cheney.

I'm convinced now.

Look at it this way, the Koch's don't tell the truth and they are notorious at hiding their actions in webs of confusion, shell corporations, and "charities".

Even without their lies, they are still one of the largest lease holders.

Plus they're just nasty libe(R)tarians.

maybe some of those they've chased away will return, if they do.

I doubt it. I'm sure the clowns have been and continue to be well paid to ensure this site never develops into anything meaningful. Or it remains a cover for something else entirely, and either way, the result remains the same.

Send in the college libe(R)tarians!!!

they were very careful to keep the repelican fringe that is riddled with mad paulite syndrome very carefully corralled. I'm sure it's an indication the repelicans really thought this through.

What I find particularly Bizarre is anyone having a problem with dissing the republicans in office ( most especially the leadership ).

I mean they are in revolt - open treasonous revolt - the leadership anyway and the others are meekly following along - they absolutely have nothing to do with upholding republican ideals - they shit on their supporters - openly - they run for office "saying" that they are gonna shit on the majority of their supporters.

They are openly and vehemently working only for the wealthy few and the corp(se)oRATions and yet and yet. Even those who say that they are not republican - DEFEND THEM feel that they need to attack the Democrats as they feel it is an equal comparison.

Just exactly how insane is THAT ????

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 10 months ago

Apparently, they are also afraid to follow the links that prove it.

I get that a lot.

Then I get insulted and accused of being the "grand inquisitor"

I'm like....Wait?? What??

If you don't want to be questioned, what are you doing in a public forum?

Was everyone really supposed to believe whatever BS you pass, without question??

what kind shit is that?

Yeah, It's like........the Koch's are anti-establishment too, in a lot ways.

Being "anti-establishment" is meaningless without further qualification and that means answering questions.

So I do and it pisses 'em off.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (34900) from Coon Rapids, MN 10 months ago

[-] 8675309 points by DKAtoday (8675309) from Coon Rapids, MN

Yep - the Kochs are anti-establishment - as far as where the establishment is not fully in their control. Ummm I am thinking that that is not a good way to be anti-establishment.

[-] -2 points by shooz (17816) 10 months ago

Exactly.

It needs to be qualified, and that takes questions and honest clear answers.

I don't get too many of those.

27 comments by the same three people. Nice job creating a vibrant environment.

Do you realize how many of us converse via email and pms? You guys have run roughshod over the entire thing.

You get to call people faggots, call women cunts, claim anyone who is different must be a right wing piece of shit, etc.

Great job. This is quite the creative environment.

Completely. Fuckin. Dead.

What a fuckin shame. Enjoy patting each other on the back for the rest of the evening.

Say's Eeyore who never contributes anything - unless he has been rightfully blasted often enough where others might stop and consider - HuH - When "IS" the last time Eeyore contributed something - then it becoming increasingly obvious you finally post something or make a few contributing comments on a post.

U can thank Ur shill buddy for the lack of participants - you know who I am talking about - yep - the eternal shill.

Myself? generally I leave you alone as - for the most part - you are pretty harmless. But then you go and ask for attention and then it is only proper to share with you what I have observed.

[+] -4 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 months ago

Wrong again. The site doesnt answer. Quite a few have been emailing complaining about things as Im sure you know.

Getting an answer from the site isnt going to happen.

Like I said, if the abuse email is going to you, and you are the one pulling the trigger, then whats the point of that?

Just to make people grovel a little bit? Not happening.

Who is wrong? I have had the eternal shill tell me he sent in an abuse e-mail. Did it actually do it? " I " don't think so. But if you R not getting a reply from the general e-mail address or the abuse e-mail address - I would suggest that you PM jart.

Just to make people grovel a little bit? Not happening.

You can make any excuse you want - Me ? - I really do not care about "your" crap - use what is available or not - your choice.

[+] -4 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 months ago

Well everyone is emailing general@occupywallst.org now because they are pretty sure the abuse one goes straight to you.

Either way, no one answers.

Moderators at GA's dont participate in opinions or discussions, for obvious reasons. They are there to guide the process and thats it.

Personally, I'm too energetic to have stood up there and not be able to comment, but thats just me.

BTW - I find it extremely funny that U and Odin and ? - would complain to the site - I mean as you have never gone to the site to see about getting your account restored - not one single time - Odin did - at least once - jart gave him a break - Odin abused it - jart booted him.

On that note we have for you:

Additional Information

If you want to question a ban, also email abuse, we're open to discussion and at least one ban did get reverted; what you don't do is make a slew of sockpuppets. That's the best way for future bans to be immediate and without second thoughts.

[-] 1 points by ZenDog (13421) from South Burlington, VT 10 months ago

nice . . .

now wait - wait . . .

how many barrels were spilled?

  • Exxon Mobil on Sunday continued cleanup of a pipeline spill that loosed thousands of barrels of heavy Canadian crude in Arkansas as opponents of oil sands development latched on to the incident to attack plans to build the Keystone XL line.

thousands of barrels it sayz . . .

From a pipe line that carries how many barrels per day?

  • Exxon's Pegasus pipeline, which can carry more than 90,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude from Pakota, Illinois to Nederland, Texas,

more than 90,000 bpd . . .

and the KeyStone? How many BPD?

  • The Arkansas spill drew fast reaction from opponents of the 800,000 bpd Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry heavy crude from Canada's tar sands to the U.S. Gulf Coast refining center.

And so what we have now established is that any proportionate pipeline leak from the KeyStone would produce a spill in excess of Tens of Thousands of Barrels of Oil

how nice

I especially like the end of the article -

  • Supporters of Keystone XL and oil sands development say the vast Canadian reserves can help drive down fuel costs in the United States. A report from the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association, put together by oil and gas consultancy Penspen, argued diluted bitumen is no more corrosive than other heavy crude.

That is two complete lies in a single paragraph. The Canadian tar sands shipped via KeyStone will be refined and then head to China; and regardless of what is meant by diluted bitumen the Tar Sands will contain sand.

Anyone care to conduct a little experiment with a four inch pipe, a little compressed air, and several gallons of oil mixed with sand?
