Did you hear what Republican Senator Leah Vukmir is doing in response to a simple open records request? She not only outright refused to hand over records about her ALEC affiliation, her Chief of Staff accosted a representative of the court while being subpoenaed and she even went so far as to ask the Republican State Attorney General for an opinion saying legislators cannot be sued for violating open records law.
Show these Republicans that they are not above the law . The only way to stop Republicans and their cavalier attitude is to restore a Democratic senate majority.
What does Senator Vukmir have to hide? Is she afraid the public will see records about ALEC written bills and her attendance at their swanky corporate-funded events?
Wisconsinites deserve to know whether legislators are being wined and dined at ALEC events. No legislator is above the law -- it is simply unacceptable for a senator to act this way toward the public.
Senate Democrats will continue to fight for open government and against ALEC's influence in the Wisconsin Legislature.
