Forum Post: Why You Should NOT (under any circumastances) Re-Elect Obama... Or Any Other Democrat for that Matter

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 25, 2011, 4:04 p.m. EST by metapolitik (1110)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Obama comments start @ 2:50... But I suggest watching the entire video:

http://metapolitik.org/blog/chris-hedges-explains-fascism-of-tea-party

...Reps and Dems are playing keep-away with the American public.

A vote for either party is a vote for Wall St.

obama is an oligarch. obama is 50 new nuclear plants. obama is a health care law built for the corporations and against the people. obama is denial of kyoto protocol. obama is two new wars. obama is Bush continuation. obama is corrupt. obama is ignorant. obama is the enemy of the people.

"Personally, if I didn't think it would harm our country irreparably, I would promote writing in a vote of "No Confidence" for the upcoming elections, perhaps if politicians saw that the vast majority of Americans had no confidence in them, they would all change their tune."

In another thread... How could this hurt the country irreparably?

[-] 1 points by metapolitik (1110) 12 years ago

Sounds like a great idea.

OWS is a non-partisan platform, insisting not to vote Obama is just as partisan as supporting a vote for him.

[-] 1 points by metapolitik (1110) 12 years ago

I'm insisting that we vote for NEITHER party.

Doesn't get much more 'non-partisan' than that.

[-] 1 points by NielsH (212) 12 years ago

That's not what your title says, which exclusively mentions President Obama and the Democratic party.

Only in your last line do you mention "either party".

[-] 1 points by metapolitik (1110) 12 years ago

First, last... What difference does it make?

It is clearly stated in the post.

Chris Hedges is the biggest liar I have ever seen!! Fascism is entirely a creation of the left!! My god how do people get away with making such misleading statements like that. Fascists believe in massive government! The Tea Party is the EXACT Opposite of that! They believe in small government, low taxes and regulation. Fascists are fanatics of huge government...they are also anti religion....Nietchze was Adolfs Idol. He took away all the guns before he started his genocide. Hitlar ran on Universal health care, he was a huge envionmental idiot and a vegetarian too. He grabbed all the kids to indoctrinate them just like our liberals do in the US.

[-] 1 points by KingCobe (52) from Baltimore, MD 12 years ago

OWS should issue a statement denying any support or endorsement of Obama.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

i am not satisfied with Obama's lack of fight . We know the list. But he seems to be changing in the last two weeks - he is roasting the republicans. But lets be real - no fantasies - a third party will not work - sad to say - but the hard truth.

and even if we could snap our fingers and get a president, 41 R senators can block anything

consider President Romney ===> Soylent Green in 10 years

So your message is don't vote? How very American of you.

That's like being a defendant at trial and telling the judge that you don't believe in his authority, don't need a lawyer and have nothing else to say.

Do you really believe that the judge will find you not guilty?

I do understand. I'm not happy with either party. But I refuse to abdicate my duty as an American to vote. I refuse to leave it up to those that do vote to choose who makes the laws of the land.

[-] 1 points by metapolitik (1110) 12 years ago

If you'd bothered to read the entire thread, you would know how ridiculous your comments sound.

Thank you for your input and thoughts. This whole movement depends on each-others input, incite and support. Please take the time and also communicate your thoughts to our government. We all need to express our thoughts and insights to those who represent us and let them know how we feel about what they are doing and what they need to do better. Spread the word.

These people aren't listening to us, they are listening to Wall St.

Also... "Incite"?

Don't you mean 'insight'?

Freudian slip?

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Yes thank you. But incite can also work if done in a positive manner.

[-] 1 points by metapolitik (1110) 12 years ago

in·cite/inˈsīt/

Verb:

1) Encourage or stir up (violent or unlawful behavior).

2) Urge or persuade (someone) to act in a violent or unlawful way: "he incited loyal subjects to rebellion".

OK. So taken literally then perhaps not a good alternative word. But again lets do everything we can in a positive manner to promote and guide change.

That's why I only vote for whoever is running against the incumbent. If a seat is open, I vote for whoever is not in the party of the previous seat holder. If we could overturn every seat up for election/reelection in one fell swoop, then a real message may be sent. Currently, punishing whichever party is in charge at the time of our anger only emboldens the newly elected party and they think that it is an endorsement of their complete platform.

I just heard Rick Perry, who is running for president, put his tax proposal out, to be used if he were President. It scared the heck out of me. Talk about the rich getting richer. He is giiving away everything to them, while at the same time cutting education in half. He even wants poor people to start paying a minimum of 20% in federal taxes? He said if we give the wealthy more of their money to keep they will produce more jobs, then everything will be o.k.? HE MUST NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DEMAND PROBLEM. Or the fact they're already sitting on 2 trillion dollars of profits and not investing those. Demand? Didn't hear it all but his state of Texas has one million children with no health insurance and he thinks that's o.k.?

[-] 0 points by jay1975 (428) 12 years ago

While I do not support Perry or his tax plan, to be fair, the 20% rate would be voluntary and does away with almost every exemption. Basically, the rich, who usually pay around 15% in taxes after all of their exemptions, could opt in for a flat 20% rate that requires little to no filing effort or economic voodoo. And, with my plan, Perry would have been voted out of Texas years ago.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I think that your time and energy would be better placed in supporting those who are trying to work for us and criticizing those against us. Rather than voting the opposite seat.

I've yet to enough politician's that were worth my vote as the vast majority of them vote for party over nation. I say get rid of them all and start over. If they screw it up, vote them out as well. Since term limits, ending their tax payer funded benefits and stopping lobbyists will likely never happen, I simply will not give them my vote and will always work for the incumbents opposition.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

OK. I take your viewpoint and venting can be healthy. But while you vent why not vent at those in office to whom you can take your exception up with. Perhaps they may get a clue as to why we are not going to put up with the same old same old anymore.

[-] 0 points by jay1975 (428) 12 years ago

I have called, written and emailed my elected representatives several times over the last few years and all I get back is the same form letter. If I had a million dollars to donate to them, then my voice would actually count. As it stands with the two party system, each party can rely on 30% of the voters being dumb enough to only vote for one party year after year, so they only need to lie, suck up and appeal to 21% of the voters to win.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

It is still useful to continue voicing our point of view and to disagree with what is not good for our country. Don't stop, don't go away, that is what they want. We can not stop moving/advocating for change. The more people who continually contact the more attention they need to devote to the fact that we are not going away and that by ignoring us all they are doing is making sure that their stay in office will be short. Spread the word get involved stay involved.
