Forum Post: Why is censorship necessary?

Posted 11 years ago on Nov. 24, 2012, 8:33 p.m. EST by highlander (-163)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I know, for a fact, that you wish to abolish capitalism. OK, you are free to have your opinion. And this forum is full of individuals that share this opinion. That is OK, too. I do not agree with this approach. I am probably who you would call a right wing hayseed. I am a private citizen under the employment of no conservative group nor am I a volunteer for any conservative group. I do not look for agreement for my view of limited government and more private enterprise.
But why must you remove posts that do not agree with the forum view? It can't be hate since supporters use just as much foul language as anyone else.
It can't be because of any attempt to disrupt constructive discussion since posts can be ignored. I hope it is not because you are afraid of dissenting views.
What you are espousing is revolutionary to say the least and you have to be able to stand up to criticism and detractors. So please don't block me. I do not bite, I carry no contagious diseases. I do not preach any ideas which can threaten you on this forum since I appear to be in a distinct minority. If you want to debate, let's debate.
Happy Holidays

well said, and I agree. another annoying thing about some of the childish regulars on here is their multiple accounts they have so they can team twinkle all their comments, and then because of one disagreement post, they will continue to stinkle every post I say for the past week. (Ive been sitting at 897 for over a week now, and the point in mentioning this is not because I care what number is by my name, but why would anyone else care so much as to act out on it?

Not all of us hate capitalism. I hate crony capitalism. Subversion of consciousness surrounding the economy is one of the things I am fighting for. We all have a choice. Left/Right/Brown Coat/Socialist or even barter and trade; and all ideologies have something to offer our society.

Party politics has killed us and scapegoating ideologies does nothing but divide our resistance.

Unite.

There are very few people here that want to abolish capitalism. There are a few people that wish they could do it but recognize that this is unrealistic. Unbridled capitalism is the problem. There are entire countries where the "free market" has proved to be disastrous. Forum members have brought this information into the debates. If you are not seeing that information then please consider that it would be the 397th conversation on the same topic. The US is a mixed economy and will remain as such.

I doubt that comments are removed here because of your pov.

Really? I mean censorship - it sounds so - malevolent - you know something mittens might involve himself with - if - he could keep track of his lies.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I know, right? This is an eye-roll thread.

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

I do not think so. I called 1 516 708-4777, right off this website. They have a moderator, evidently who will remove posts, threads, etc. if they are deemed to be hateful or not conductive to good dialogue. I eye roll, because this forum appears to be dominated by a few contributors. I am beginning to suspect that this forum is strictly for the choir, so to speak.

OH - Is that why my vision has been so blurry? Huh. Makes sense. Thx.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Ya, or you need glasses.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

LOL - it must be the other reason - I already have glasses - though maybe I need to schedule a check-up?

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Or maybe clean them? When I can't see through mine, it's usually because I put my mascara on and then pushed my glasses too far up. Then I question my eyesight and 2 hours later realize that I have been walking around with my mascara on my eyeglasses. Yep.

And it's usually on those days when I feel awesome.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

AHhhhhh - but I don't use mascara- feel awesome(?) - well then - perhaps I should.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Hahaha! I know you don't use mascara.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well - lol - I don't know how I should take that. U think I am a manly man(?) or just inhibited. {:-])

Censorship at this site has always been something of a dark mystery. No one knows why, or those that do know aren't talking.

Currently I have a post that has been shadow banned. I can only see it when I am logged in. http://occupywallst.org/forum/were-all-gazans-now/

[-] 1 points by RedDragon (-161) 11 years ago

Where is DK? Ban this man! Immediately!

[-] 0 points by doitagain (234) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

be careful of what you do, think cautiously

[-] 0 points by doitagain (234) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

when people receiving the power, it starts abusing them

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

No one will debate in a way as you think

So do you think capitalism is the best system available

[-] 1 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

What is the driving force to make anyone better? What incentive makes a person better?

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

I think entrepreneurs and the end result are what drives this market place. Its giant combination of things with the global market i think the only way to remain competitive as a nation we have to have a capitalistic based society.

i wasnt talking about me debating you but certain individuals on here

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

There can be only 1.

[-] 1 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

I will probably take more than a kind of magic to achieve these goals

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Better world for ALL? Yep - it will take involvement of The People.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

What censorship?

This has to be the umpteenth millionth thread on this topic where the poster offers nothing at all.

Just a bland, generic accusation.

I think all such threads should be banned.

It's just stupid.

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

Censorship is a reality, done by some moderator on this site. Jush call the 516 phone number and they will explain what posts they keep on here and why.
If you want to have this revolution take place, you need to win over a whole lot of people. It does not look like that will happen if a small minority of people contribute the majority of posts. Address every detractor or doubter out there...or don't. Just don't censor anything.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Not another one that refuses to answer the simplest of questions.

We have WAY too many of them here as it is.

Yeah, some things would need to be "censored".

Go ahead and push all the envelopes, I'm sure you can get banned all over again.

Dishonesty seems to do that to posters, at least in the long run.

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

Promoting revolution necessariy pushes envelopes. I am not sure what dishonesty you are talking about. But if censorship is a means to quieting certain voices, then why bother even pretending to have a forum; just overrun the establishment with weapons and put all corporated americans in camps?

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I was speaking of the dishonesty of your post and response.

You never actually answered the question I originally asked, and I've grown sick of the evasiveness that shows.

I will reiterate the question, one last time.

What exact censorship was visited upon you and under what username.

Any response that doesn't answer those questions is simply BS.

[-] 1 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

This will probably get me booted off again, but I signed on as another user previously, twice, after a couple of comments, any additional comments I post are removed. As soon as I click post, it says "removed" in a gray background. After having this happen a number of times, I finally call the number on the forum site. I talk to a young lady. Very friendly and very civil. I commend her for the movement's response to Hurricane Sandy. Then I ask about why the remove notice comes up when I post a message or put up a comment. The young lady states that (I paraphrase) a moderator is removing posts that appear to be hateful or not helpful in any way to promoting dialogue. She states that there are paid trolls from conservative groups who will try to sabotage this site. I talked with her around 9:10pm est on Friday 11/23. Censorship does happen. That is a fact. I will state again. Let every post, every statement, stay up on the site. You want a revolution, you will have doubters and detractors. Face them, talk to them. Try to win one or two of them over? How many votes did Stein get? Banging pots is not the same thing as changing minds and winning votes to your side

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Um........yer still here.

And.......um.......er You didn't really answer the second question.

It would appear that your post was blocked for some reason.

Care to paraphrase what you wrote that got blocked? You've been more than a little evasive about that too.

[-] 2 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

to add to the previous thought, is Occppy Sandy getting goods faster to those in need than the federal government? If that is the case, then that will be a arrow in the foot for those who believe that larger government is the answer to the problems of this nation.

[-] 1 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

Ah yes. I remember. As PharmDrightwing, I stated that I was grateful that I was allowed to keep some of my earnings without have to provide shoes for every lowlife without a pair. Oops, my bad. Wait, on second thought, I provide shoes for myself and my family. I pay 25% tax for the government to provide shoes and birth control and phones for those who don't, so I am glad I get a little coin left over for some Smirnoff

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Can't say as I recall the name.

Now you find that taxes are driving you to drink, and you want to blame those that are victimized by the (R)epelican't recession..

I could see how using poor, drunken language skills to express that would get the post and YOU banned, so quit yer bitchin'.

I knew this was another loony thread on the subject.

You are of course aware of the fact that the reason for this lies with Wallstreet?

If you don't? You should quit drinking and seek professional help.

[-] -1 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

Perhaps you should turn on your monitor.

[-] -1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I'm asking the OPer.

Is that one of your sock puppets?

[-] -2 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

What are you, this site's official guard chihuahua?

Censorship here is obvious. I've seen posts disappear between logging in and hitting refresh. On comments, what do you think all those grey 'removed's are?

There seems to be a disconnect between the interests of the posters and the interests of the owners of this site. For months they allowed the psychopath Trashy and other spammers to plague the forum. Why? Plus the news front page is often at variance with the posters, for example in backing NATO evil in Libya and Syria.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I've noticed more than a few idiotic posts go belly up.

So the fuck what?

Some people just lack the language skills to say things in a way conducive to communication.

Must you bring up threshy?

I went round and round with that ass more than once. He cracked me up with his bitching about conspiracy theory. He would go after one person while the theories were everywhere.

As far the Middle East?

Perhaps they found that threads were getting redundant.

Do we really need 15 threads on the same subject?

Makes sense to me get rid of the excess, as I don't think this forums software would allow them to combine them..

It's not like there was a lack of threads on NATO at that time.

You call me names again and I will cease to be nice. It really does get tiresome.

[-] -1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I'm not a Thrassy fan, however, watching him bitch slap your ass into the next week made me feel a little tingly all over.

[-] -1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

If its leftist propaganda being censored then it's wrong. But censoring right wing propaganda is okay.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Wow - and here I thought that you were a complete idiot.

[-] 1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

If you agree with the above statement then it is you that are the totalitarian idiot.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I would suppose that would depend on what is being censored.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I mean if you want to censor RINO/corpoRAT propaganda obsructionist BS that is stopping progress in recovery and the heading towards a better healthy and prosperous world for all - that can't be bad - right? Or even DINO/corpoRATist.

[-] -2 points by janus2 (-387) 11 years ago

libs believe in free speech as long as you agree with them. the believe in tolerance as long as you tolerate them, they do not tolerate you.
