He's a crook! No two ways about that FACT! He's just dropped Harvard in the deep pooch poop too!

'The path to fundamental social change is not straight and clearly paved. Generations are consumed by building social movements powerful enough to topple an unjust status quo, only to fall back, sometimes for decades, if they haven't been able to pull out the economic and political grievances by their roots.'

'Nevertheless, even when no substantial progress is being made or gains are rolled back, the lessons of previous struggles are still absorbed and adjusted according to modern conditions by new layers of activists. The path to making another world possible may submerge for long periods only to again become visible and inviting on a broader and potentially more advanced level.'

The thing is, if the stink about Summers gets too big, he's just going to put yellen in there instead.

And instead of coverage on how she has been complicit in all of this mess, how as the vice she should be held accountable for it all, this is going to be the story:

"The first woman Fed Chair. How wonderful".

Who are you speaking of? Mary Shapiro? Her complicity in past events is a matter of record isn't it? Just like Summers! Please see - http://www.nationofchange.org/global-power-project-part-1-exposing-transnational-capitalist-class-1371217943 from which -

'The global elite are of course not defined by their wealth alone, but through the institutional, ideological and individual connections and networks in which they wield their influence. The most obvious example of these types of institutions are the multinational banks and corporations which dominate the global economy. In the first scientific study of its kind, Swiss researchers analyzed the relationship between 43,000 transnational corporations and “identified a relatively small group of companies, mainly banks, with disproportionate power over the global economy.”

Also see - http://www.nationofchange.org/global-power-project-part-6-banking-influence-bank-america-1374210008 from which, I excerpt - 'What is clear is that Bank of America, like all big banks in our era, isn't merely a financial institution but simultaneously acts as an influential institution in the media, military industrial complex, think tanks, chemical companies and government circles. The bank is too big to fail. Too big to jail. And too connected to change.'

Janet Yellen. Def part of that small little group of extremely powerful people. The elites.

How our mortgages ended up being traded on wall st is beyond me.

'Most of the major banks, Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, almost surely would have failed without government support.'

'In fact, some of the top economic advisors in the Obama administration wanted to let them fail and have the government take them over, as the FDIC does all the time with insolvent banks. However Larry Summers managed to carry the day by arguing that such a move would be far too risky at a time when the financial markets were so unsettled. As a result, the big banks got their government money and were allowed to consolidate so that they are now bigger than ever.'

From - http://www.nationofchange.org/glass-steagall-now-because-banks-own-washington-1375968414 .

Mortgage Backed Securities, Collateralised Debt Obligations, Credit Default Swaps and other such so called 'derivatives' are modalities of selling debts and bets on the probability of debts being paid, i-o-u-IFs - if you will. This is all just big stakes gambling by another name with a 'win they win - lose YOU lose'; socialisation of losses and risk and the privatisation of profit and opportunity, super-speculation.

The next fed chair I would guess.

[-] 2 points by TropicalDepression (-45) 10 years ago

I think that is a safe bet. But I can see them appointing Yellen and then making the news story that its the first woman, instead of just another crook in a long line of crooks.

Obama's choice of fed chair and his handling of the NSA is going to define his presidency. When Chris Hedges described Bush 2 as 'venal' and Obama as 'mediocre' I thought it was accurate about Bush but a bit harsh about Obama. He explained later that in politics that's all you'll find- the venal and the mediocre. That's sad but I'm starting to see it's true. The most you can hope for is a leader that fears movements and responds to them. There's an obvious movement against Summers among women on the left. There's also a movement among journalists to keep the NSA in the headlines. Let's see how the administration reacts to these things.

The administration is fine with it, as Levin stated:

I've seen all those before. I wouldn't try to make sense of where people stand on the NDAA by those videos. Too much creative editing going on.

I agree. Theres a no cut variation of it somewhere on youtube, I just posted the first one I saw.
