Forum Post: Where The Heck Is Jart? I'm Concerned.

Haven't heard a word from jart for a week. We need to find out what's up here. Has anyone heard from Him/Her?
Who the hell is Jart?
Jart is the moderator of this site, and her "disappearance" has co-insided with what looks to me like a possible physical commandeering of this site. Don't use the report abuse link, because I have been told it now innitiates a cyber attack of your computer. The site is increasingly dominated by bots voting down our comments, and once again threats and flagrant hate speech are making their way onto posts.

It did, for a long time, but we suddenly got a downpour.
This site is not just the forum. It is also the Occupy News. So what exactly are you saying? Has the forum (only) been abandoned to the trolls or is Jart maybe on vacation?
I'm saying that I was in contact with jart regarding a post I made to contain the troll/infiltrater/bot issue on the forum, which jart had asked me to do. Suddenly, thereafter the levels of this activity, which had been gradually rising really took over this forum again. I could have mitigated this had I been able to reach jart with the info she asked for. That was a week ago and I havent hear a word from her since, and I have been getting PM's about some fairly serious problems arrising with the site in the mean time.
I would like to contact jart, but have been unable to.
The importance of this site to the movement makes me feel the necessity of being vigillant in such matters. I would simply like to be reassured that jarts absence at such a time (with instances of terroristic threatening now going on here) is innocuous.
I am not being alarmist here, but just think we are a mass movement, but also individuals who should try to be aware that the issues we are engaged in are serious, and shoukd be aware of such matters.
Well, I hope you find out what's up. I don't put anything past Republicans in an election year. Notice that my progressive radio shows are not on my no-longer-progressive station anymore...
If there is something truly hateful or violent posted, please take a screenshot of it and save it for possible investigations. I've reported some racist posts in the past, but I have yet to get a response.

Jart is not a moderator. Jart is the programmer. Just use the email address to report problems.
Fine, I made a post regarding the troll/infiltrator/bot situation a week ago, and jart, who I was in communication with, asked me specifically to do so. I have not heard a word since, which strikes me as odd. At any rate, I hope the situation will clarify itself soon. Thanks for your input:)
I'm sorry, you're right, jart is the programmer, but I've been trying to get ahold of jart for a week with no success.
All the more reason to email the moderators.
Did that last week. Received an email stating that it could not go through.
Maybe that cash crunch is worse than we thought. Where's those ice cream guys?

I'm afraid Jart is more than useless, I believe she is an enemy of OWS. That's why this forum is overrun with trolls and kept from building the OWS movement.
I want to know where she is, and whether she's all right.
Jart CREATED this site. It would not exist if it weren't for her efforts. She was the programmer, is the administrator, and moderates when she can. She has a life, you know. Moderating a site like this one consistently would be a full time job, and she already has one of those.
I'm sorry, I literally live in the jungle, and so there are some things I must simply try to understand from a very remote perspective. If I have over-reacted to the situation I am sorry.
Still, I can't understand why this site, which really has been the hub of this movement through the dormant winter months, hasn't been given more funds and priority. What, at the moment, is more imortant than outreach?
But as I say, my perspective is very remote from the circumstances at the epicenter of things. I also think I have some awareness, based on expierence, of the high stakes of what we are engaged in, and that gives me a very personal concern for all those involved.
GK, I wasn't responding to you, but to Josepinto, who is claiming that Jart is OWS's enemy, without realizing that she is one of its founders and was the one who created this website in the first pace.

Not at all. I'm sorry if you got the impression that I was annoyed with you. Nothing could be farther from the truth than that.
Jart is not Thras you do-do brain. How on earth could you say Jart is an enemy of OWS. You have no idea what you're talking about. Jart is the programmer of this site.

How so? It works for me. It has the rules at the top.
I've hear from two people that either their messages have not gotten through, or after using the link they have been "attacked." I don't no if their computer was attacked , or if it was personal.
I'm not trying to be alarmist here. All this may just be coincidence, but we should be aware of it, and I would especially like to hear if anyone here has heard from jart.
Why would we hear from jart? She's probably busy doing her job. Programming. She only ever jumps in here to talk on a very occaisional basis. I'm sure she's fine.
I've used the link and have not been attacked. My computer is fine.
Anyway, I posted the email address that is supposed to be used to contact the moderators with any problems. Just permalink the offending posts so the moderators can easily identify the problem and don't have to hunt around on a post. That's what the instructions say - for anyone that is worried about using the link.

I think the computer attacks were unrelated to using the email address. i have used it as recently as yesterday with no adverse effects.
I do share your concern about Jart, though. I hope she's OK. But keep in mind that her absence from here is not unusual. I suspect she's a very busy person.

Don't take my assessment as gospel: I have a Mac, and it is less open to attack than Windows machines. What's more, since one never seems to actually hear back from moderators, I'm not sure I got through.
So I would say you can rest a LITTLE easier, but I don't know if my experience is universal.
