WTF? These people are going to lose the few benefits they had! Instead of one full time worker with benies there will be two part timers with nothing!

And the sheeple just calmly accept their slaughter for the good of their shepards. They're a well conditioned flock. Jesus will save them. They're not permitted to join together to save themselves. That would compromise their rugged individuality.

You just gave me an idea; what if we as a country made it so that employers could no longer offer healthcare insurance as part of a compensation package. What if the money employers spent for purchasing healthcare insurance for it's employees was payed to employees and employees could create their own insurance pools to create lower premiums for each person in that pool. The money then spent for premiums could be an itemized deduction on each person's federal income tax return. What if pig's could fly? ;-)

What if we just burn it all down and start over?

The ability to kill us all is here.

Not with nukes, but with a simple virus.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/mar/28/bird-flu-mutant-strains

In a secure laboratory built to contain harmful pathogens, Fouchier took the H5N1 bird flu virus and mutated it, through some worryingly simple steps, into an airborne strain that spread swiftly among ferrets in neighbouring cages. At first glance, the work might seem bad news for ferrets and little more. But the animals are the best mimic we have for how the virus could infect people, for example, through coughs and sneezes.

Really. I often wonder how a perk became a responsiblity. AND Obamacare has iced it in with it's employer penalties. WTF? Employer paid health insurance was a carrot back when workers were scarce. And literate.

Um, I would just like to point out that this has been ongoing in restaurants all over the US and has nothing to do with "Obamacare". Darden is not the awesome company that people pretend it is.

They didn't think this would happen?

The trend to replace full time workers with part time no benefits and pay so low that two incomes at least are required to support a family has been growing for *more than forty years* that I know of.

Why have so few noticed or cared until now?

Not to worry. Obamacare has a formula to count several partimers as full timers for all it's unconstituional penalties. Pelosi was really right when she said to just vote for it and then we'll figure out what's in it. She should have been fired right then for that statement and if that is SOP for Congress, then they ALL need to go home.

Expand benefits for part time workers.

Good luck with that, DKA. That would be one very tough fight my friend.

Hey - TCN - thx for stopping by. Yes a tough battle among many to be waged and won.

Workers should be treated as one - to provide consistency.

As programs should be treated to include all - to provide consistency.

1 beginner for ALL workers would be the implementation of a minimum living wage = ( and I expect to hear a lot of shit over this one ) take the most expensive place to live in the whole of the united states - then figuring on a 40 hr work week what the minimum amount per hour would be needed to live there ( housing food clothing transportation medical care etc plus some left over to throw into some sort of savings ). THIS would then become the STANDARD MINIMUM HOURLY RATE TO BE PAID TO ANYONE ANYWHERE IN THE USA. This way it does not matter where in the USA you live/work - as long as you can get enough hours to equal having a 40 hour work week - you will be able to support yourself. One part time job(?) perhaps depending on the number of hours could see an individual able to get by - two part time jobs and an bit more then 40 hours per week - and the individual could start to get ahead.
