The ultimate goal is to remove fascist powers from the country. That would leave everyone much more free.

As far as I'm concerned, OWS is a systemic anomaly of sorts; movements of this sort generally crop up as a means of expressing popular anger with a given political or economic situation that is generally perceived to be unjust and/or corrupt. I've learned from watching this group that I can't really expect them to take on the responsibility required to design and implement policy initiatives to lead us away from our current crisis and I've basically made my peace with that (even though that hasn't really been easy for me).

In once sense, though, I am heartened by the birth and development of Occupy Wall Street, not because I hope for much action from it, but because of what its existence means. The presence of OWS means that for better or for worse a non-negligible segment of the population has realized that something is wrong with the track this country has been going down for the past thirty or so years, and the ramifications of this have hit them hard enough that they're willing to get out in the streets and risk arrest and abuse in exchange for the possibility of changing things.

While that alone does not a more productive domestic or more reasonable foreign policy make, it was enough to get people talking about these things in a vocabulary that I haven't heard in quite some time. Their actions made it okay to discuss income inequality and the failures of trickle-down supply-side economics in the national arena without being isolated and shouted down, and for that I am grateful.

Honestly, though, I have to say that unless May Day truly turns out to be a rebirth instead of a last hurrah (and at this point I honestly can't tell which is the case because it's still only the third) then OWS will have rendered all the services it can to the national political dialogue and it probably won't have much positive impact from here on out. That said, I'm hoping to see the discussion they started move further both onto the streets and into the halls of power, and I'm hoping to see a return to efficiency and good governance in DC and a return of political and financial power from large corporations and financial institutions back to the American people.

Nice post, thank you.

What is your idea of freedom?

what is your deal dude? Are you a banks CEO or a fox news anchor? Freedom is NOT the NDAA, the NDRP and Cispa. That's tyranny, we live in a country where the federal government regulates every aspect of our lives. These laws revoked would be an amazing start, but also, look at the "war on drugs," it costs the tax payer billions of dollars per year and drug demands hasn't dropped at all since the 1960's. Marijuana is safer than alcohol and everyone should have the right to use it. Our government is supposed to be "of the people," but it's not. the top 1% owns 80% of Americas wealth, and they don't pay taxes because they put that money in overseas banks, taking it completely out of our economy. Idk how the whole movement considers freedom, but if you think America is free right now, you're sadly mistaken...

What is my deal? I am asking questions of what seems to be paranoid nuts about the movement they are supporting. I ask questions and I am accused of being this or that for asking a question or giving an opinion.

It has clarified for me that most if not all of the people here supporting OWS are fairly shallow and hold views that are not very well thought out. For the most part, they remind me of teenagers who want to rebel, want their freedom, but still want their parents to fill the fridge and pay the electric. They complain about their parents oppression, yet do not appreciate the work involved in keeping a roof over their heads. The OWS mob or the children, want access to the the wealth "hoarded" by the rich or the access to the parents cash and property, to blow as they would choose to spend, without doing the years of work involved in accumulating the wealth or savings.

They want the goodies without doing the work, and the whole time throwing a temper tantrum that the parents are unfair to keep what they deserve from them. They are spoiled children.

That is my deal. Congratulations! You have lived up to that opinion.

So clearly you aren't interested in what ows believes. Your post is filled with hateful, offensive, inaccurate comments. You don't want to improve the situation for working American families. you want to tear down the only movement that exists to help them. you seem to be doing the bidding of the criminals who crashed the world economy and make our lives worse.

There are no "hate filled" comments in my post. You are just unhappy about my opinion. If you have an intelligent belief that could sway my opinion, you do not present it in your post. You use your post to call me names and say what you WANT but present no idea about what you can DO to improve your own lot. YOU are exactly the example why I believe what I believe. You throw a temper tantrum rather than engage in an honest discussion and YOU blame others for your own situation.

'paranoid nuts","shallow"."mob". "spoiled". A bit of your offensiveness. You suggest ows protesters want something for nothing. Offensive! This offensiveness I submit comes from hatefulness. Nothing of any value in your post sorry. We need all 99% to see the crimes we have been subjected too. I don't want something for nothing. I want to right the ship. Take back the country. you want to insult, tear down. Stop working for the criminals. Work for your fellow working class Americans. Join us.!

OWS is the 1%. The 99% support the OWS mob.... Sorry, dude, like it or not, that is the truth.

Yeah I see that. There are many on these forums who just want to make trouble.

Keep them fighting is the name of the game for the greedy corrupt criminals, as that is their hope of survival. Prevent unity in common cause - Hence the trolls that come to these forums ( blind marching supporters of the status-quo - hired guns of the greedy corrupt ) they have no facts/truth to support their positions so this is their only affective weapon.
