The most frustrating aspect of society today is the influence of money and lobbyists on politics, both from wall street / big business and public sector unions, lawyers, Hollywood etc.

Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist who was imprisoned for being too good at his job, said that as soon as he mentioned that he was interested in hiring a congressional staffer onto his company, they fell all over themselves to do his bidding. He "owned" the chiefs of staff of 100 congressmen. He says there's been no real reform. He suggests in a recent 60 minutes interview that public servants be barred for life from working at a lobbyists company. "If you're going to do public service - do public service!" he says. He claims that the entire system is corrupt, and I'm pretty sure we all agree.

I believe the country would be well served by barring our so called "public servants" from every working for a lobbyist. Similar rules should apply to regulators in the SEC etc. They should never be allowed to go to work for a private financial entity. End of story.

This single focus, perhaps along with real campaign finance reform, would be the greatest benefit to the 99%, in my opinion.
