What a great quote from Barney Frank. It is important to understand the purpose of all of that money though to be able to counteract it. The money is there to buy votes. There is no amount of money that can overcome an informed, active electorate. That is why I am forming www.lobbydemocracy.com. Lobby Democracy is designed to represent the interests of the majority to their elected leaders on Capitol Hill. I understand that this should not be a necessary process; but, unfortunately it is. The only voices that our elected leaders are hearing between elections are those of big business and special interests. The voice that is missing is the voice of everyday Americans. We are aiming to change that. We will bring that voice to Capitol Hill and make it heard. If you are interested please check out www.lobbydemocracy.com for more information. If you like what you see, please say so here so that we can rise to the top of the list and others can get involved.

Banning lobbying altogether raises terrible constitutional issues. Freedom of speech is one of the central tenants this country was built on. You cannot just remove the ability to communicate with our elected officials.
I am also trying to achieve the achievable. The removal of the senate is not in our immediate future. We simply need to find some common goals and then get them done.

Sorry, I don't think a website meant to aggregate voters and then become a new lobbyist is going to be effective.

We need more action, not more indirect action.

I think lobbying should be banned anyway, just trying to figure out how to word it. Changing to a parliamentary system would effectively solve this I believe. Abolish the senate, instant run off voting, increase the number of parties, and then vote for parties instead of individuals.
