Forum Post: Wal-Mart parking lots reflect America today - OWS makes it worse.

Posted 12 years ago on Dec. 15, 2011, 12:38 p.m. EST by DunkiDonut2 (-108)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

You can tell a lot about America in a Wal-Mart parking lot. To park you can pick any driving lane and you will pass down 10 parking spots on both side of the lane for handicap parking. That equals 20 cars per lane times 10 lanes or so. Around 200 handicap parking. I drive in and park 15 or 20 spaces down and walk pass the 20 spots I'm not allowed to park in. Yet, I see some pretty nice cars with handicap tags hanging in the window. Not on the plates but hanging from the mirror. As you walk by some 30-40'ish people jump out of their car, toss a cigarette and run into the store. I wonder the thought pattern a person like that has. Then i get into the store and I have to walk around the 500 pound husband and wife team riding 2 electric scooters probably valued at $4,000 each that need to be charged. There are dozens of these people. I finally make it up to the checkout counter and they are all in front of me. Their shopping carts FUUULLLLLLL of groceries and they pay with food stamps. Half of the carts are full of dog food and the others are full of DIET soda, steaks, ice cream, chips, 30 TV dinners, and several cartons of cigarettes. So,,, I park in the far end of the lot. Walk pass their cars near the entrance mandated by some government requirement that I had to pay for, riding in electric carts that I had to pay for, purchase their food with my tax dollars. THIS IS ONE LAZY SCREWED UP country. I would kiss the ring of a corporate CEO before I would walk across the parking lot and put the fire out on an electric scooter with a 500 lady on it.

You can tell a little about America from the kind of bullshit some people post on these forums.

[-] 5 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

Actually you can tell A LOT about America from these posts. Kissing the hand of a CEO? Gives you an idea of the mentality of these people.

[-] 5 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Has it occurred to you that maybe that 500 lbs lady could have a disorder? Perhaps a genetic one or physical due to injury or mental.

Has it occurred to you that some of those 'nice cars' belong to a family member or a friend kind enough to either loan the car or to give them a ride to the store, that maybe the handicapped person was left off at the door?

Quick to judge aren't you?

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

try not to use the word "you"

maybe that 500 lbs lady could have a disorder? Perhaps a genetic one or physical due to injury or mental.

[-] 2 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Ever consider the generic 'you', 'we', 'us'...just a suggestion.

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

absolutely

generic "you" doesn't always come across that way

[-] 2 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

I do apologize, I usually insert the word (generic) after the word you and I guess I missed one.

[-] 0 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

You may be right but let's be honest, in spite of his over the top image. Americans are becoming more obese and statistically it is the poor that make bad food choices and are more likely to be smokers. Although there are medical conditions leading to obesity few people actually have them.

Although we all have a right to live our life the way we wish, once you start accepting government help, you open yourself to criticism from the people that are paying your way.

[-] 2 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

The 'poor' often choose 'cheap' food items. Pasta is a staple in a low income household, pasta is starch which of course is a carbohydrate, which in turn is easily stored in the body...

The strange thing about tobacco addiction is that it doesn't really seem to have the effect on weight gain or loss that was once believed.

[-] 0 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

With tobacco I was thinking of just another contributing factor to poor health. Between the added pounds, lack of exercise, and then the cigarettes it becomes a major task to move very far for some people.

[-] 2 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

I wonder if anyone on this thread understands why the body stores fat...it's a defense mechanism, storing for lean times when food is not abundant.

I've know people who consume 1,000 calories per day, they weigh everything they eat, and they still gain weight. They are as active as their jobs and/or health allows them to be. I know of one person in particular who has to drop to 500 calories per day to loose weight and can not consume over 700 calories per day or the weight is gained. This person works 3 12 hour days plus one 24 per week. Not what one could call lazy.

I can only point out that it's easy to judge people who are over weight, yet we (generic) judge without knowledge and without understanding. When we do so, even if we don't say a word, we are being cruel without cause.

[-] 0 points by JPB950 (2254) 12 years ago

I know it's not as simple as calories in and calories out, physical activity, eating balanced meals all plays a part, as does genetics. Normally your weight would be your own business, until you start accepting public funds for food or health care, then you open the door to the public's scrutiny.

[-] 0 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 12 years ago

Haha have you ever been to a Wal Mart in Alabama?

[-] 2 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Strangely enough I have, and in Mississippi, Louisiana, pretty much all through the south. I've noticed that there seems to be strong tendency for people to be heavy in warmer climates. I've always assumed that was because it was too hot to move much for about half the year.

[-] 0 points by TechJunkie (3029) from Miami Beach, FL 12 years ago

Hehe. I don't think that the 400-pound people who I saw on electric scooters at Wal Mart in Gulf Shores this summer could possibly get any heavier for the winter. But I suppose it is possible.

[-] 0 points by zymergy (236) 12 years ago

DunkiDonut2 has made a dramatic point - but there is truth behind it. One in three of our fellow citizens is obese. Yes, that does represent an eating disorder, a national epidemic of eating disorders. It summarizes much of what is wrong with our economy and with our psyches. We, as a people, are enslaved to our appetites, to the pursuit of pleasure, not to the 1%. We are enslaved because we avoid work, even to walk an extra 100 feet from our cars to the stores, preferring instead to be “handicapped”.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Just a few things that are related to the obesity issue. The incidence of underactive thyroid syndrome has increased in this country, the thryroid gland helps regulate weight. People who are over weight tend to have joint damage.

Diet is a large issue, carbohydrates, such as in pasta, rice, potatoes tend to increase weight in the consumer.

Sugars are in most foods we purchase, corn is in nearly everything, check the labels, corn syrup is carbohydrate.

There are many reasons which have yet to be understood as to why people are more likely to be overweight today then they were 50 years ago.

[-] 1 points by zymergy (236) 12 years ago

All of what Pandorak writes above is fact, but it is incomplete. Most of the obese consume more calories than their bodies require for growth and energy. The excess calories go to fat. While we have little control of interest rates and the price of gasoline, we do have control over what and how how much of it we eat. We should take personal responsibility where we can, and we should expect others to do so as well.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Don't forget metabolism, that changes throughout one's lifetime.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

LOL that's true. Mine did in my 30's and I constantly watch what I eat. Before that I could go to Golden Corral and eat 6 plates of food and never gain a lb. Those days are gone.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Tell me...LOL

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 12 years ago

Understand? It's called the FDA-the government determining what is "food" and what is not.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Are you referring to ketchup being labeled a vegetable?

[-] 0 points by justhefacts (1275) 12 years ago

At the very smallest level...yes.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Then, please expand.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

People live a much more sedentary lifestyle nowadays than it used to be. When I was a kid we ran around in the woods by the house playing all day in the summer. Kids nowadays want to play on the computer or game consoles or watch tv all the time. I have had a rule in my house for years,"If it's nice outside get outside and play, plenty of time for tv or video games when it's raining/snowing/cold out.

[-] 1 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

That would be healthcare and the lack of it here in this country. And the little healthcare there is, most of it is going towards helping people who are suffering from obesity.

[+] -6 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

20 years ago there were maybe 5 parking spots. That was all that was needed. Today you need 200. Some FAT, some lazy and some are just like the OWS people, "I DEMAND YOU GIVE ME SOMETHING"

[-] -2 points by bill1102inf2 (357) 12 years ago

Seriously? A fat-ass apologist!!

[-] -3 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

You know what,,,, maybe,,, just maybe,,, if the fast ass 500 pounder would WALK she may lose that weight? Ever watch "The Biggest Loser"? They all blame something else until someone tells them to get off their fat ass. This is all about liberalism and the POOR ME, OWS crap. Wake up and do some work,,,, you will LOVE me for telling you that if you ever did it.

[+] -4 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

If it was only ONE 500 pounder. The problem is that you go down row after row shopping and there are dozens. And they are always a husband and wife TEAMS. I'm sure all of us are paying more for food to pay for their fun day at Walmart. This country as illustrated by OWS is getting more lazy and fat by the day. I dont need to explain anything to you. You are probably too lazy but you can simply stand up front in the lot and WATCH the people pull in, toss their cigarettes and run in. So dont give me the bull crap that they are ALLLLLL dropping people off then parking. I bet you are one of the lazy asses and your mad at me.

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 12 years ago

Nope not mad, just dished out a little of what was already being dished out...a touch of rudeness. Doesn't feel so good does it?

Not a lazy 'ass' either. Worked from the time I was eight, I had a little business, sold meat I raised and butchered myself, farm kids learn young.

I was and am just pointing out that lumping together all of a certain group of people sharing a portion of appearance is like lumping all liberals into one category or all the conservatives into one category.

I'm thinking maybe if seeing people like that bothers you so much, you could opt out of Walmart...I opted out of that place years ago, made life so much more pleasant.

[-] -2 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

A butcher? You just pointed out one of my biggest beefs. When people, (you) make statements like, "you cant lump certain groups,,," brings out the problem with America. Everyone is affraid of bringing up bad things in our country for fear that someone is going to make the lump claim. The bad people, the bad things continue and get stronger because NOBODY has the nerve to stop it. Today it is 200 parking spots,,(nobody but ME sees that or comments) tomorrow it will be the entire parking lot is handicap parking and we will be parking 5 miles away. When is the time to talk about 500 pound people or those that park illegally, toss out a cigarette while parking in one of those spots,,,, well,,,,, IT IS NOW.

[-] 1 points by Coriolanus (272) 12 years ago

"A butcher? You just pointed out one of my biggest beefs."

C'mon now, be honest: was that pun intended?

[-] -1 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Well, yes.

[-] 1 points by spyac3 (16) 12 years ago

When is it time to speak up? Nobody has the nerve to stop it! Everyone is afraid to bring up bad things in our country.. all the comments of DunkiDonut2 who claims that OWS makes things worst ... Hmm seems to me that OWS is "Not afraid to bring up the bad things in our country".. OWS "Has the VOICE to speak up" ... and OWS "Has the nerve to want to stop what is ruining our country"

[-] 0 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

You are actually CORRECT. I have posted from time to time that I have agreement with some of the problems that OWS has brought up. The difference is HOW and WHAT is said by OWS. There are problems with corporations,,, THERE,,, YOU HAPPY? There are problems with banking,,,, AGAIN,,, HAPPY? It is how OWS goes about addressing the problems. Here is the beef with OWS. You can tell that everything that is said is drastically slanted to the left. "ONLY republicans are at fault,,, HATE republicans,,,,, etc and etc. However, when someone agrees with problems and points out that the liberal agenda was a major factor in the problems,,,, OWS doesnt want to hear it. Any republican can see that this movement is a liberal left group that wants to raise taxes so that the failed liberal agenda can gain more money to fail faster. I would bet you didnt understand any of this because all you want to hear is "bad republican" conversation. Nothing will get done because this movement has increased the divide even more. OWS sucks and could have had tons of republican support had it attacked both sides.

[-] 1 points by spyac3 (16) 12 years ago

Omg... just a little tidbit of info here are you sitting?? ready for this?? I am registered REPUBLICAN .. ok get up off the floor now, what might differentiate me from other registered voters is I do not believe that I have to vote within my party.. so what does that make me fairly independent!! Its not "WHO" owns the candidate its "What" the candidate is about! lmao now!!!

[-] 0 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Nothing is perfect. People are not perfect, corporations are not perfect, America is not perfect, the world is far from perfect. Protesting in tents, chanting, taking over a park,,,,, TAKE ON THE WORLD,,, is about as stupid as stupid can be. The moment OWS would call out a group of R-I-C-H liberal democrat congressman for what they are, I would consider supporting them. In an instant, if groups of whiners turned on the the people they have voted for, every person in congress would be grabbing their ass and things would change. NOT UNTIL!! OWS started about two days after Obama lost his debt limit raising deal,,,, daysssss. OWS was started from within the White House basement due to the very rapid communications system OWS used to broadcast start of the movement. The communications was started and controlled by people that have done this for years. The Tea Party took much longer to get started and still does not have anywhere close to how OWS gets the word out. I will not support what appears to be a lazy whining group,,, and that is what OWS looks like to the vast part of Americans.

[-] 1 points by spyac3 (16) 12 years ago

your right nothing is perfect ... but it certainly can be better, I don't buy the conspiracy theory.. what I see is a group of people who want to stand up and say "we want change" instead of being like the vast population who merely conducts life as "It must be ok they said it is" and be lead around with their heads in the sand waiting for it to be better. I'm in my 50's owned 3 homes during my life have 2 children in college and one in high school and "I want the world to be better for them" The economy is slipping to mid mid to late 1970's there has been no growth for the working person they have been stagnated . Read this link having to do with Andrew Jackson and the National bank at the time... he may not have been the best President... but they all seem to have glimmers of brilliance: http://www.civil-liberties.com/cases/bankveto.html

[-] 0 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Thanksgiving evening OWS proudly announced how many homeless they fed. How could a bunch of people living in tents feed a bunch of people? How does the communications happen where all these people meet at a certain location. How does the message happen with all the coordination of a major political campaign? This happened two days after Obama lost his strongman image.

everyone wants things to get better. Shutting down ports, taking over parks with tents, chaining themselves to the front door of an empty warehouse is childish at the very very best. Have a clear commentary on the problems of our society. Have some clear platforms on what those issues are. Invite the rich liberal democrats that get richer every year while the poor people that voted for them get poorer to meetings and drill their butts. If a group of under-what-evers, that traditionally would be voting democrats confront rich democrats,,,, all hell would happen. A poor person that has voted to continue with the failed liberal agenda voting for another liberal democrat means jack poop.

[-] 1 points by spyac3 (16) 12 years ago

there have been more then enough research, debates, and polling done to support that Americans want change... the people who lead and influence those who lead do not care... they have heard the soft polite, politically correct approach... when you continue to do something the same way, you achieve the same results over and over again. The only reason anyone is even talking about this is because its "NOT" whats considered normal

[-] 4 points by buphiloman (840) 12 years ago

My god, Dunkidonut2, you really are a reprehensible f_ckbag. Get help already. There are lots of good psychotherapists out there who get you the meds you need to function as an adult human being. There's really no need to for you go on being a vindictive, petty, ignorant, bigoted, elitist, jackass.

[+] -5 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Sorry, I would assume from your post that you are blind. Again sorry. Those of us NOT blind can see half of the parking spaces are held for handicap parking and 99% of the cars parked in those handicap parking are driven by people CLEARLY able to 'RUN' into the store after they TOSSSSSS their cigarettes. Again, so sorry you are handicap and unable to see the 200 parking spaces. My bad.

[-] -1 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

Lol it's like this one lady where I work. She drives a jacked up 4 wheel drive pickup that has a step to get up into it and out of it. She parks in the handicapped spot every day with her little tag. I'm sorry but if you have to climb up or down from your truck you have no business in a handicapped spot. P.S. It took me 4 months after my Dad had a stroke to get him to go get his tag. The man could hardly walk 100 ft without getting worn out but didn't feel like he "deserved" to park there. He finally changed his mind after seeing so many obviously healthy people parking in handicapped spots.

[-] -3 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

There you go!!! You understand. This country is getting dumbed down by PC and OWS people on here want their student loans forgiven and take, take, take. One of these days people will demand Walmart bring them their food to the door. Lazy ass people.

I would be proud of your dad !!!!!!

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Um, don't you remember?

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

They did that a while ago.

[-] 2 points by wellhungjury (296) 12 years ago

You went to Walmart. Stop your bitching.

[-] -1 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

At least limp while your walking your 500 pound ass up to the door.

[-] 2 points by fairforall (279) 12 years ago

those carts are only rated for 400lbs.

[-] -2 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Which means they will have to raise the prices on the food up because they will need to buy another cart to replace the one's the 700 pounders crush. Good thought on your part to bring that out.

[-] 2 points by nograve (23) 12 years ago

OP is a selfish sack of shit. Get the fuck out of here.

[-] 2 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

But you still shop at Walmart.

[-] 2 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

What I want to know is how OWS makes the parking situation at Walmart worse. And I want to know how OWS is to blame for obesity. Where's the logic in that argument? This post will drop to the very bottom in about 2 hours.

[+] -5 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

In each city there is public facility called the Sewage Treatment Center. Where all the crap goes. OWS is like the sewage system but want to divert the nations crap that way. There are people that could fix the problems in our country,,, and we have problems. OWS seems to clog that problem even more. Hence, OWS will demand more handicap parking for people that wear knit caps. There you.

[-] 2 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

What I find glaring, is why shouldn't handicapped people have nice cars?

[-] 2 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

They are usually nice cars because most of the time those handicap parking spots are used by the elderly. They are retired and they made some decent money before retiring and a good car is very important to them. I don't blame them for anything. We need to take care of our Senior citizens. So don't mess with Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security.

[+] -5 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

I would think that as an OWS person you would find having a nice car to be bad and therefore would have overlooked that statement and actually thought of something much better to come back with but,,,,,,,,,,,,,, YOU COULDNT.

[-] 4 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

No, I think YOU think handicapped people should be poor.

[+] -4 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

I guess I didnt make my point. MANY,,,,, once again, MANY of the NICE CARS in the handicap parking are driven by people that are NOT HANDICAP. Did you get that???????? They are lazy people getting out of their cars close to the door, tossing their cigarettes out and running into the store. I dont know how many time I would need to repeat this for you to get it. GEEeeezzzzzzz people.

[-] 2 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

You are not a doctor are you? Just because someone walks, does not mean they can walk very far. I have PERSONALLY been with handicapped friends, I drove, they had their placard on my dash, and someone like you says we are not handicapped because we were walking. Well I ended up having to retrieve the wheelchair for my friend for the return trip to the car. Do people commit fraud? Yes. Should you say people are not handicapped when you don't know for fact? Absolutely not. And why didn't you mention calling the police if you knew they were committing fraud? Did you?

[-] -2 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Maybe YOU could think about this. How about,,, just think for a moment,, that YOU drive your friends car,,,, so far so good,,, and you drop them off at the front door,, and then,,,,,, wait for it,,,, drive the car out where the rest of us park and YOU,,,, yes YOU,,, walk to meet your friend? What an idea....... And you never thought about it until me,,,,,, not a doctor,,,,,, told you how to do it.

[-] 2 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

The solution is for everyone to stop shopping at Walmart and buy American made products instead.

[-] 1 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

People have to shop for their daily needs. And it is almost impossible to buy American because MOST of what is sold at Walmart is made in China.

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

Well that's why I said you should stop shopping at Walmart.

[+] -5 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Please reply to my post with the brand of computer you are using to post on here. Did you buy an American made computer? Just interesting about how big your mouth really is. Your comment will indicate your China shopping habit.

[-] 1 points by forOWS (161) 12 years ago

No such thing as "an American made computer". All electronics are made outside the U.S.

[-] -1 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

The poster above said not to shop at WalMart because everything is made in China. The point of my post to reply,, you can stop buying a computer in Walmart not made in America and but where would you go to buy a computer made in America. That was my point,,,, YOU CANT. So the best option is to not use a computer, support the Postal Service Unions and buy stamps.

[-] 2 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

I'm in excellent physical condition, I eat right and exercise. My old ass still busts off 100 pushups and situps every day.

You'd never guess, unless you saw me on a bad day, I have one of those placards stashed under the visor of my cars, and even have handicap tags on my foot clutch, jockey shifted suicide choppers. I park up front any damned time I want to and I've never had food stamps, welfare, or any government assistance. I'd just about dare anyone to say a damned word about it and there have only been two people to ever do so.

One was an 80 something-ish blue haired bat that I wasn't really kind to, and the other who decided anyone who could ride a motorcycle couldn't possibly be disabled and wanted to pop off at the pickle polisher. He got schooled.

What says more to me is when you go to very "uppity" hoods whose huge malls typically have sparse handicap parking.

I hope you aren't implying that a gimpy person should not be allowed to own a nicer ride than an ungimpy person, if you are, you'll have a life filled with bitter disappointments.

[+] -5 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

[-] 3 points by FrogWithWings (1367) 12 years ago

Yeah, grab a hold of some it anything you want some education and shame of having your ass handed to you by an old crippled bastard.

That would happen for sure unless you are man enough to prevent it.

[-] 1 points by toonces (-117) 12 years ago

Put up with the the walk with a smile on your face and be grateful that circumstances aren't such that you need a handicap sticker to park there.

[-] -2 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

Be glad we have corporations and you can have a job.

[-] 1 points by toonces (-117) 12 years ago

Are you really saying that you would rather be handicapped so you could take advantage of a better parking space?

[-] -2 points by DunkiDonut2 (-108) 12 years ago

No,,,, that idea has already been taken by the lazy asses,,, and OWS. If you want to pursue equal,,, you need to visualize it. Just last night,,,, Friday night,,,, I had to go to WalMart. EVERY,,,, yes EVERY handicap parking spot,,,, 200 of them were full. We have 4 WalMart's, a Target, A big mall, several shopping areas and I would bet every handicap parking spot was full. There can not possibly be that many people in our town that drive SUV's, pick up trucks, that are handicap. Math does not support this once you get inside and actually look around the store for what you would visualize as a handicap person. 200 cars and one guy walking around on crutches in the store. The handicap parking is not being used by handicap it is being used by laze people,,,, OWS type people. Too f'n lazy to walk 50 more feet in a parking lot. SAD.
