Forum Post: Unilateral decisions, partizanship and the media

The sound of one hand clapping was an expression to illustrate that some things are truly under the control one entity and it should, as a corollary, hold the other party blameless.

Americans want cooperation and compromise as a part of the governing process. Unfortunately, only one hand ever claps and the silence is profound. The press refuses to recognize that only one hand doesn't move and blames both parties equally for failing to deliver, not just less than the public wants, but nothing at all. This doesn't occur because the media is stupid, and they are, it is because they are owned, managed and are the same group as the party that is owned, managed by and are 1%ers, and that refuses to engage, known as the GOP.

The decision not to participate is a unilateral one, and blaming parties equally that have offered to participate and those who have refused is willfully unfair and deserves equal blame as the party that refused to participate and reach compromise.

The latest fact to be suddenly discovered in the fiscal cliff "crisis" is the Hastert Rule, which requires that a majority of the GOP members of the of the House must support a bill before the House will be allowed to vote on it. The result is that a majority of the House comprised of a mix or GOP and Dems never get a chance to vote on a compromise. Only if it could be claimed as a GOP bill by having the majority of the majority in favor of it will it come to the floor for a vote. It has been said by GOP House members that if Obama's initial proposal were brought to the floor it would pass (with both GOP and Dem votes).

The media conveniently did not expose this during the election so that GOP voters who favored compromise according to polls, didn't realize that voting for GOP candidates guaranteed that they wouldn't get the compromises that they wanted. You would expect Faux News to hide this fact, but the "real" main stream media hid it also. So much for the "left leaning" Main Stream Media leaning left. This is an obvious case of collusion with the right, oligarchs.

So, listen carefully for the many other cases of one hand clapping.

Off Subject, but Gun people are either gun rights protectors or Gun banners ... they both want to be unilaterial.

1) I see people Positional on many issues that are ither Conservative or Liberal. Both these sides seem to cast aside the mind for a postion,... a position that could be the result of just listening to a persuasive politician or celebrity.

2) So lets start a process of listing the Principals, as we begin the conversation about an issue. Lets take it up a Notch. Lets try to put forth legal or Philsophical Principals.

A) Public Safety, safety of weak and ill people, safety of women and kids are principals. And sometimes men are weak or feel weak and need protection.

B) Citizenship, US Voters have an obligation to stop their government from conducting wars overseas. How will people stop government without guns. If there is no gobla government to stop the US War Machine ... who will stop the Democrats or Republicans ... and How will they do it?

C) What is our Responsibiltiy to spread the news that the US government is a Military Empire that kills civilians and starts wars. Our people are the most ignorant and the stupidest of the entire world. What do we do....?

There are some who say, "That tool doesn't produce results that I like so I will drop it and continue to look for something that works better." So, there are at three kinds of gun people, maybe more,

Principles or principals? Philosophical is principles. Re your A) I don't think safety is a sex or age related issue. All people want and deserve to be safe. Some people, perhaps more often men, "are weak, or feel weak" and are therefore mentally ill. They need to be treated.

Re B) US voters should not be parties to coercion personally or by their government.

Re C) Citizens have the responsibility to inform themselves about the actions taken on their behalf by agents including their government. Damages caused by agents should be compensated. Using armies to avoid compensating victims of actions by persons or their agents is wrong. Other citizen's have a responsibility to informing their partners to avoid sharing the liabilities they may cause.

Challenge: You don't admit your generation has power of the USA and has screwed all of us. I've been around and I have responsibilty too... But the Patriarchs know the system, The capitalists Run the System, the Financizers get their asses Kissed, and Lobbyist are golden, write our laws and ... seem to subjugate ... or undercut our Democracy.

I don't see people starting with Principals. I'm guessing your response to my principals is an honest discussion. I don't know which principals we should be looking at... Public Safety is a Moral Prinicpal ... not really a legal principal.

Have to plead ignorance on your repsonce Re B) I don't really feel you have hit on the issue here at all.

Re C) What? If you have seen 4 Presidential Elections, you know it is all bull shit. We can't inform ourselves. We can't find the truth. The media does't serve us. The whole Poltiical System is brain dead, corrupt, deals in lies, deals in cover ups, and is self serving.

My Genration and the Generation Y partly or mostly see that obfuscation that is US Patriarchy, Politics.

I can easily admit that members of my generation have screwed all of us and I think I can make the case for every other adult generation. I'm not perfect but I really don't remember supporting any of it. And I hate that it has been happening. Just because I am a member of that generation does not make me equally complicit in the misdeeds of many others in it.

Real moral principles should be reflected in law. But I can't accept that every member of a generation is equally guilty with every other member or has what they call"an affirmative duty" to act to prevent every other member acting in concert with a majority of that generation for taking an immoral or illegal action.

B) I was trying to state an appropriate principle (not principal).

C) the US and most of its political system is very corrupt. As a person of free will, I make some effort, and more than most, to try to rectify that situation but I am not totally responsible for it and it would not be fair to blame me alone for this problem. If you are an adult, your responsibility is probably the same order of magnitude as mine.

You R a good man. But the media screwed u, and has led to a screwing of your kids. Why cant we advertise the screwing we got...

We dont even have a compass today. Kids believe in Ronald Reagan economics or trickle down or tax cuts... just narratives that get repeated (lies)... that is all.

Military guys come back and keep the secrets of the military just to get young people to follow the political messsage... they keep the truth from them.... and encourage the to join and fight.

It is disgusting.... Lies.

I love how Boehner is constantly claiming that the president hasnt gotten serious about spending cuts, when he himself has no finite details in what he would cut.

In reality, the vague numbers they are talking about with tax increases and cuts arent going to do a damn thing. This debt is getting ready to explode due to an aging population and no jobs here, along with a horrendously educated public thats more focused on reality tv than cspan.

I dont really put the media in a l or r corner with its political coverage. Its kind of just one big lie. The rest of the media is definitely liberal leaning, because it simplyappeals more to the ever important 18-35 crowd.

Any decent occupier should be able to put MSNBC or FOX on for an hour each, and be able to point out lies for damn near 60 minutes straight nonstop.

At least that is the goal. Cut through the BS. Get the truth out.
