The ship is sinking and the water is full of corporate sharks...this article is a bit old but I doubt there have been any improvements esp with unlimited campaign contributions...the article from my lowly wage slave perspective is a good thourough breakdown of all the ways mainstreet is being pillaged and shoved to the back of the bus while gov partnered with corporations steers us over a cliff. http://www.demos.org/publication/state-american-dream-economic-policy-and-future-middle-class

Appears so...so less than half of poor people voted in the 2008 election. But I find this notion hard to fathom...nothing gets me voting faster than feeling disenfranchised it angers me...but I'm sure there is a fine line between being angry and broken there has got to be a certain amount of sentiment that it won't matter we all know politicians work for the wealthy...scarier to me is that our election system ia run by Diebold the company that makes ATM machines. They basically are the banking industry. How can we trust banking chronies who have proven in every way possible to be scam artists and pushing the boundaries as well as breaking laws to program our voting machines. ? Are we just wiling to believe poor people the same people who have had to be survivors struggling and fighting for every resource they have never giving up to shirk off the very possibility of changing the system holding them down...it doesn't make sense to me...

''Voting rights around the country have been under serious assault in recent years. In 2008, President Obama was elected with the outsized support of African Americans, students and women. After the 2010 mid-term elections, new Republican majorities in state houses across the country began to pursue an aggressive voter restriction strategy, not seen since the undoing of post-Civil War Reconstruction.

''From early 2011 through the 2012 election, state lawmakers introduced at least 180 bills to make voting more difficult in 41 states. By 2014, voter rights had been significantly impaired in 21 states, say the expert attorneys at the Brennan Center for Justice.

''The attack has been particularly relentless in Wisconsin. Since being sworn into office, Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Kleefisch have ushered into law one of the strictest "voter ID" requirements in the nation, even worse than the original American Legislative Exchange Council "model" bill. Although voter fraud is virtually nonexistent in the state, experts say that some 300,000 people lack the form of ID required to vote under the new law. If historic voting patterns are any indication, the majority of them are women.''

Excerpted from: http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/32104-saucy-suffragettes-party-as-voting-rights-are-rolled-back in compliment of your comments and excellent link about "Diebold" from which I also quote:

''As earlier as 2004, thanks to documents leaked by a whistleblower, it was discovered that Diebold had illegally used uncertified certified hardware and software in California election systems and planned to lie about it to state investigators. The e-voting systems, repeatedly found over the years to be easily hacked, were decertified for use by the state at the time (though they are still used widely around much of the country today.) Still, nobody went to prison for any of Diebold’s crimes.'' This is serious shit, imo!

Further on the matter of ''Voter Suppression'', I strongly recommend the following doc. film re. 'American Democracy' - "Murder, Spies And Voting Lies" - P 1/2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T32eRtxEiRw and P 2/2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDbnzpXvTkQ This doc.is the best I've ever seen on ''V-S".

Finally, this short clip of The High Priest of Repugnant Election Strategy will clarify matters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GBAsFwPglw & I will not even mention - 'Frank Luntz'!
