Forum Post: This could be the real reason the GOP slings crap for the NRA.

Posted 11 years ago on Dec. 28, 2012, 5:24 a.m. EST by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

At under 4 billion dollars a year, (Sheldon Anderson and the Koch bothers can’t even see numbers that small), so considering how tiny the gun industry is one has to wonder, why does the GOP shout “How high?” in unison every time the NRA says “Jump!”?

I think we may be seeing a little bit of the real plan, they want to be able to round up and “treat” anybody they feel is a “danger”. Having lots of guns around is needed to set the conditions for the hideous acts that will create the fear needed to make people do insane stuff, like look into people’s genes to see who’s safe and who’s not.

The NRA wants free access to guns so the government will be free to decide who should be free.

Update. 01/16/2013

new piece from Mother Jones

A correction here too the industry is 11.7 billion, still small I think compared to others.

The real power of the nra comes from their members.
Wayne blows his dog whistle and 1000 lemmings call their congressman to tell them to vote for guns.

I'm not positive that I have this quite right:
Heidi Heitcamp - the new D senator from ND, made a very PRO-gun speech a few days ago. { stating Biden must not go too far }
She got many calls fron anti-gun constituents
She then made a speech that was far more open-minded

Gabby Giffords just started a PAC to counter the NRA and do things like this

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Time will tell, we are a ways off from the next election and so far a high NRA rating has been a good thing, when it becomes a bad thing then maybe, I think using the NRA ratings against those that have high ones will stop members from bragging about how high a rating they have, both Ds and Rs. Till we see people bragging about a zero NRA rating will things really start to change, and that's completely up to the people do we want safe schools or guns, it's up to us.

great idea

people will put up with all kinds of stuff if they think their kids are at risk, almost everybody pees in a bottle to get a job, how much different is a cheek swab for DNA? and while we're at it would you mind answering a few questions about your sex life?

Pretty scary.

We've arrived at Gattaca.

Our work will put a kink in the chains they've strung around us.

It must. This strong growing progressive movement is our last best hope.

Important for everyone to see this excellent illustration of the comparison between the haves & have nots. So many people outside the west live such bleak lives.

Sobering, and a real reminder of what is at stake.

Thanks.

It's Class War: take away their ability to provide and prosper, give 'em plenty of guns, let 'em fight each other. 99%-scoreless and spiraling, 1%-Number One With A Bullet!

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Oldest trick in the book keep them scared of each other so they will depend on a strong government to lock up the bad guys. Then they won't notice when rob them of their very lives.

Even worse:

Wait for it...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghcsrblhn7A

We do it for them

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Not until a high NRA rating hurts them at the polls will anything be done, this is very slow work and the NRA remembers while the rest of America forgets.

This is a really good video, did you see that the GOP extended NASCAR add spending in the fiscal cliff deal, http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/02/pentagons-nascar-sponsorship-gets-a-green-light-congress-rejects-measure-to-cut-funding-for-ads-on-r/

(only Chris Hayes covering this story maybe print will catch up later)

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Thanx. NASCAR apple pie and m-16s!

I'm finding when I tweet this stuff I'm getting responses from a lot of pundits out there.

Who do we report the football spamming to? The secret invisible masters only certain people have access, the hall monitor whistle, to?

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

try abuse@occupywallst.org or this link to report stuff I think

info@occupywallst.org

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Gone now I think.

There were several jock posts about football. With the controversy over the recent replacement of Progressive Talk in two major markets with f-ing Sports, some jockheads probably felt the need to disrupt a political board.

Thanx

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Dont forget Gitmo. Spending money on a torture center is a bit more disturbing than spending it on NASCAR...as much I hate watching hicks watch cars go around in circles for hours.

I put people who are indefinitely detained, and lord only knows what else, at a slightly higher priority.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Once again it was repubs who added language to the defense bill to prevent and/or make difficult the closing of Gitmo.

But of course you are silent on that as always because you never lay blame at the true criminals.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

How do you feel about 6 year olds getting gunned down in class?

It is fear that keeps Gitmo open. The GOP wish to increase fear by increasing gun violence, still haven't heard from you on the gun issue you seem unwilling to address the murder of these children maybe people in Gitmo are all you care about. But I think it's hating Obama that you really care about, all you want to do is spread your partisan bullshit.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

OTP is Hchc ya know.

Ask him what winning policies and politicians he supports? and how he thinks they are achieved.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

He is socially liberal and fiscally conservative. He supports Rocky Anderson, Kucinich. Stein and Nadar. HCHC is the name of his business and he said so. In fact, it was on his little profile. The nature of the beast forces him to question every bit of information that comes his way. The nature of the beast also forces everyone else to do the same. He is exactly who he says he is. We don't agree on a lot of things and I think slamming Occupy Tampa is so damn unnecessary and just wrong on so many levels.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

He's a fucking dullard jerk. His constant feigning OWS supremacy is specious and repulsive. His anarchistic critiques are sabotage. He's a bus stop boxer screaming at bus wind. period!

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

He hasn't fooled me either. And I do not believe his involvement with Occupy Tampa. OTP/HCHC seems like a right wing shill. And he is currently conducting a concerted attack on me with his cohorts.

Seems like a child really but I suppose he ain't. Only in mind.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

This is him, arrested for writing on the sidewalk with chalk:

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

It may be, but I have my doubts. I'm still researching.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I do not think that is him. That is Nathan Schwartz. Who was arrested but I would find it hard to believe that that is OTP/HCHC.

I will check further.

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

He plead silence when I accused him directly. so...

...it's him

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I see nothing on either of his profiles (I understand you used the past tense) and Anderson and Stein ran against each other in 2012.

OTP/hchc is a Conservative partisan which ignores all actions of the GOP while attacking Obama even when it is entirely out of context as he did here. This is a fact he constantly avoids, I on the other hand attack the GOP constantly while ignoring (for the most part) the shortcomings of the Ds, I am a yellow dog democrat that believes the best and possibly only hope America has is to kill the GOP. It may seem we are the same but if you look carefully there is a difference, and it's not just who we support or oppose.

BTW all of those people you list have supported higher taxes, I don't recall OTP/hchc ever calling for that.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You are exactly right about that right wing shill. And he and his friends have been attacking me for the last 2 days because I challenge the right wing crap they spew.

I don't have to tell you to not be swayed by those he has fooled. Just know that you are not alone in the assessment of OTP/HCHC.

Bullshit right wing shill that's all he is.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

it is my understanding he is a professional promoter of some sort, he is not very good at his job, I suppose it causes him a great deal of frustration

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I'm not surprised

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Yes, they did run against each other but if you follow the conversations then there is a more relaxed type of conversation taking place and he is more receptive from this group of people.

Unlike me.

In part because I think he still has a little idealism that hasn't had the shit kicked out yet. In fact, I intensely dislike Rocky Anderson. I have come to despise the selling of Stein. She's ok but the people that sell her? I'm all good. I have no patience for Nadar or Kucinich any more. I hate having that shit shoved down my throat. I don't want to hear broad generalizations. Identify the issue correctly, lay out the plan to resolve, honestly identify the limitations, explain precisely how those limitations will be confronted and circumvented: step by step or fuck off.

You can really tell the age of the participants because they don't understand how it is that you can pin point what is for sale because, although the internet is relatively new, advertising and marketing in politics has been around forever.

You will need to not just say "raise taxes", your going to need to identify where it is currently being siphoned out and how precisely it will be used. Note that he does not focus in any of his postings on blaming the victims when it comes to social services. Those belong to the Tea Party fucknuts, Constitutionalists, and libertopia personalities. All gazillion that they kick out.

His name isn't Nathan and for awhile he had his shit up on the internet. I don't know if he still does. None of this justified slamming Occupy Tampa.

I have no love for the GOP either. In fact, I am looking at the committees and subcommittees and trying not to cry.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

BTW you pointed out months ago that hchc never had a problem with anything Gov. Scott did in FL. That was when I became aware of his real propose here.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I think that plain talk has been missing and is needed yes I said raise taxes, pretending that you're doing something else usually means you're raising taxes on working people at least that's been the history. Having read a number of OTP/hchc posts I have no problem seeing his support of the GOP I do not believe he supports any of the people you mentioned in that while he uses their names but never really seems to understand any of their positions other than they don't like Obama, not liking Obama is what OTP/hchc is all about, it is all he is about. (you might notice I make no defense of statements or statement about Occupy Tampa)

My approach of killing the GOP may seem general and broad but I feel it has been far too long that people have been getting a pass when throwing their lot in with crazies. Furthermore I do believe that the one underlining thread that still ties all the GOP together is their willingness to cut taxes at every chance and never raise taxes, that is the root of our problem in America and if the GOP will not give up that position then they must go or America dies.

You see I remember the spring/summer of 2001, it seems no one else does, finding the people who attacked the Cole was not the priority, looking into that memo about Bin Laden was not the priority, the priority was that Washington was taking in too much money, with nearly six trillion in debt we had actually paid down a few tens of millions and the GOP saw it as our greatest threat. Nothing in the GOP has caused me to think that they have changed in any way, so I say why address the debt? If by chance we pay off a dollar the GOP will just slash taxes to get it growing again, and not one of them have said they won’t.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I still think he should do a slam dunk on Gov. Scott. I still think that he should speak up more on here directly related to complete and utter sale of Florida's education system and the amount of cash that is being stolen via real estate. Don't get me started on the faux privatized prison system and the waste of money on welfare drug testing to achieve the same results of failure that had already been tried. It goes on and on.

Now, I have to admit, that right there still makes me pause. He is right there in the middle of ALECville and often not a peep. Refusal to support unions? Yeah. I could be completely wrong on the guy.

I'm going to be honest. I queried about his lack of focus on states. His response was that he didn't pay attention to the state but focused on war. Is that believable? Yes, it is. There are many people who spend an awful lot of time focusing on national news and neglect the states. They really do not know.

I have tried to keep in mind while reading through these threads that this whole ZOMG why aren't you paying attention to this international/national news that for many of these folks----they are real newbies to politics. They like broad generalizations and many of them like to scream but don't want to look at the details. This is the first time they have really seen the US international relations (war/murder/plundering) in action. Some of them are believably shocked and outraged. They all of a sudden wake up and realize what a media conglomerate is. They act like nobody has ever seen this shit before. Pffttt. Kinda like Chomsky-who has been writing since the '60s. Mind blowing----if you have never encountered him before.

The problem with all that screaming is that it exists on pure emotion which will run it's course and lead to exhaustion and if one is not careful-apathy.

Now, the GOP needs to go. But, the last time they went.........they became Democrats. They have no problem flipping parties. Not to mention that we have a long history of those Dems that seemed to have no problem with Banana Republics. The Dems in Wisconsin seemed to have no problem taking money from Right Wing faux privatization of the education system groups. I don't want to hear any shit from 3rd parties either. They simply want to profit off of a disgruntled population.

I agree the continued focus on the debt right now is a bunch of shit. No, they won't change. Nor will the media.

read the piece it talks about Nader I don't do things that inflate his ego, the cost is too great...

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

The GOP have been around for at least the past hundred years they have never been "gone" in the sense that I am speaking of.

We had a chance to have a type of instant run offs here something that could have opened things up but the Greens as well as the Ds and Rs were against it because it made the parties weaker.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Yeah I know he is a dishonest person who must hide from the light, talk about being the antithesis of OWS.

Hmmm...lets see. What politicians do I support? Well, Im pretty sure that getting some Greens and, if all goes as planned, some Justice Party people in Congress would really shake things up.

I liked Weiner, because he didnt give a fuck and would speak his mind. Look what they did to him.

Kucinich is great. He's speaking out, now he's gone too.

Not everyone is scared of their shadow like you, Bensdad.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I dont think its too much of a conspiracy that when people act out they get caught up in sex scandals

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

And yet it is! And that you "don't think" is in fact the point, and the problem.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I saw him with my own eyes look at the picture and say he didn't know if it was him or not, that was his choice, how it tweeted is not the point the point is he lied, straight out, once it was out there that's what took him down.

[-] -2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

You guys have way too much trust in a government that has started wars endlessly for the last 60 years around the globe...

most of this mess started when Nader and Bush beat Gore, it's been going on a long time but Clinton had us going in the right direction and if a bunch of babies hadn't ran around saying Gore gets his money from rich people too the world would be a different place now, but you know that, that's why you continue to fight against the Ds because you want more GOP control.

1) Guns are part of our original culture (IMHO), I consider it an enduring part of culture.
2) Interest Groups do change the Converstation about guns and other issues. There is power in Lobbying, having access to Media, and in starting Institutes, foundations, 501(c)(4) organizations, 527 organizations, PACs....
3) Status Quo in Washington is always a factor in static culture, static Ideas... Having no intelligent teachers in Congress and having no honest representation without ulterior motives ... means no thing gets changed.
4) Congress seems dishonest even when they seem to get on TV and say they are concerned about an issue. Are they just trying to activate people to contribute to campaigns....?
5) How many times has congress said it would look at an issue ... only to make some kind of deal that takes all principals off the table.
6) Many people like Grid Lockin Washinton, so that neither the Left or the Right gets an advantage or changes things too much... sad isn't it. Complicated.

http://mediamatters.org/blog/2013/01/16/scarborough-on-new-nra-ad-politicizing-protecti/192265

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

No one is really shocked by this.

Everything has been whitewashed and obscured and politicized since 9-11. All security issues of any kind have been plunged into an abyss of half truths since George W. Bush. And everyone hates the main stream media and political news just a little less than they hate congress.

Joe Scarborugh was in politics and I'm not sure he isn't still in politics. How is it that we are going to suddenly view him as above the fray ... at minimum he has totally been saturated within the midst of dirty politics and deal making. I have no idea what his record as a law maker was. But you know he worked within the political system by choice and is no way "an innocent" to the ways of spin, interest groups, and political manuvering.

We are all cynical and sick of politics, half truths, and full out lying. Stop Lobbying Now. Reform Washington Now. Don't let politicians hold back information from the public so that they can compete easier against their opponents and other interest groups. Demand a Free Press Now. Demand Free Debates Now. Bring back Referendums Now.

[-] -3 points by queef (-69) 11 years ago

Hollywood creates the culture of glorifying guns and killing. Ask the fucking hypocrites to make a non violent movie. Now they are doing public service announcements, with sad faces, decrying gun violence. That is, until their next movie, when they blow the heads off a dozen people.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

But every moviegoer doesn't gun down children, so that ain't really related.

try again.
