How should we deal with people who are purposely trying to be distracting and destructive to our passion and democratic energy? I think I just got diverted and engrossed in a recess type scuffle!

This guy was purposely trying to infuriate anyone who believes in democracy and humanity, and i tried to be engage him in a discussion, but he would not let go of his condescending tone or juvenile retorts. seriously, this is a political discourse, so please, let's refrain from personal attacks. i am proud of how i reasoned with this person, but I feel like i lost an hour of my life and wasted energy that could have been better utilized for this movement.

so yeah, i am just posting this because I hope we can all take something out of this. i sure did. i hope my experience helps others to save their energy and not get diverted by purposeful diversionary tactics of some of these opposers.

thank you all for your comments. i guess at the end of the day, i don't believe that a social media forum is the most conducive medium for political discourse because too many people hide behind their anonymity and feel like they can be as rude or outlandish as possible. i prefer face to face discourse. maybe im just old fashioned, but i bet you most of these people who seem so outspoken and try to appear informed are extremely different in a real LIVE discussion where they are face to face with another human being. but whatever, i think i can do more for the movement without wasting my energy getting caught up in these types of discussions with "infiltrators" or whatever you want to call the people who are purposely trying to destroy the most beautiful demonstration of democratic participation that this country has seen since Vietnam and the Civil Rights protests. So yeah, don't think you have won all of you faceless frauds who are masquerading as informed or interested in America, when you do not even believe in the fundamentals of DEMOCRACY. because i am not going anywhere. none of us are. i am just realizing engaging with people that are being dishonest about their intentions is a complete waste of my time and energy. i have too much to balance in my life, and catering to your condescending corporate cult views is NOT something i care to discuss. we all are here (at least most of us) because we know how messed up the system has gotten and we intrinsically know that we not only have a right to but that we have a DUTY to stand up and actually do something for not only ourselves, our own families , and people in similar situations, but for our country. we are democratic and patriotic in OWS because we are here to save our nation from democratic demise. thank you all who have engaged with me respectfully and genuinely. i truly appreciate and gained much from our discussions. i will keep my account open and i will check in from time to time, but yeah arguing with Glen Beck and his minions is NOT my new hobby. ;-) Seacrest OUT.

First rule. If you don't reply to people your forum it dies (and you havent)

Second rule if you reply to deversion forums (like yours) it lives

If you post a forum that makes valid points, the distractors will not bump it up they want it to die.

If you make some lame pointless forum the distractors will be all over it.

[-] 1 points by DemocracyInAction (13) from Detroit, MI 12 years ago

what does bump it up mean?

[-] 1 points by kareb (51) 12 years ago

When people say bump, that means they have posted something. This causes your forum to go to the top of the list again

Third Rule. Don't trust anyone on this site to be who they pretend to be. If someone wants to argue with you on your forum, they could be someone that likes your message and is trying to keep it alive. If someone draws you into a fruitless forum and wants to argue they are merely cluttering up the front page with your help helping.

I try not to use the word "you" when I post

I really feel your pain. I watched myself, as if in third person view, turn into an asshole in about 1 hour. I posted something for the first time in my life and I had no idea that there actually exist so many people that get their jollies from offending others.

After some investigating, I found out from reliable sources that the movement is a major target for underhanded tactics used by the 1%. Some politician tells some special assistant to "get it done", then that unknown special assistant goes out and finds some angry people in a forum and offers to pay them per hour to come to our forum and have some fun with us. The the politician that initiated it can never be tied to it even if the morons that got payed to do it confess later. The "special assistant" then simply disappears and is quickly replaced. If the sabotage succeeds, that politician will be "going places" believe me, hence the incentive for politicians, police chiefs, FBI agents, and many other men and women of power, to do the bidding of the 1% - such are the dirty ways of the 1%.

Here's my post, I left all the swearing and my awful outbursts for the world to see what the trolls can do to you, and turn you into: http://occupywallst.org/forum/i-demand-informed-direct-democracy-online-whos-wit/

thank you for that!

They don't have to pay the trolls. They're more than happy to work for free.

[-] 1 points by alfi (469) 12 years ago

you're probably right

[-] 1 points by unitedwe (78) 12 years ago

Wow, if that doesn't reek of "conspiracy theory" that people have mentioned in this forum. So EVERY dissenting opinion is a "plant," got it...

[-] 1 points by alfi (469) 12 years ago

no, only the ones that are obviously abusive and you can trace their comments on other pages and they sound exactly the same, just ONLY interested in insulting others. If you engage them in conversation, they will give you a slogan as an answer, but usually cannot defend their slogan with their own words. That's how I can tell the trolls.

[-] 1 points by unitedwe (78) 12 years ago

Right. There are definitely troll, totally agree. But to say that they are all "hired" is a bit far-fetched. Plus, there are many who just plain disagree - not so much with the views, but the methods.

[-] 1 points by alfi (469) 12 years ago

ok, I admit it, I was exaggerating because I am so annoyed and sick of them, but i was only exaggerating the paid number of them by suggesting ALL of them are paid, there are some that are paid, I'm sure, money is the 1%'s greatest weapon, you can't tell me that they don't use it this way? And this fact is NO conspiracy, everyone knows already.

[-] 1 points by unitedwe (78) 12 years ago

I do get what you're saying. But I also don't think they truly see OWS as a threat (yet). Just my opinion.

[-] 1 points by thebeastchasingitstail (1912) 12 years ago

I didn't see the conversation but I admire you for being patient and reasonable.

I'm really bad at that, lol! Don't appoint me OWS ambassador, I'm better suited for security detail. But glad there are some among us who can be even tempered.

We need to invest in the US constitution as a purifying concept leading us into unity. The natural law of the Constitution is indeed that powerful and media has led America to even being able to talk about it.------

Accordingly, we have no way to separate ourselves from those who are against the constitution. Understanding Article 5 is a good place to start. THEN register here with art5 after your username. There efforts to distract and destruct WILL then be obviously AGAINST the constitution.------

We win our unity and purify our ranks by our agreement that the constitution is a really good thing and we know exactly why.

[-] 1 points by alfi (469) 12 years ago

I'm still educating myself on Article 5, then I'll be ready to finally respond to all your comments about it, I hope Article 5 is the ticket we all need... thanks for all your comments

Excellent! Here is a page with very comprehensive strategy that addresses any issues which might be seen as detrimental.-------

http://algoxy.com/ows/strategyofamerica.html

Note the links at the bottom where the supreme court tried to rewrite the constitution and make congress the sole entity authorized to amend. That should give you an idea of what a threat Article 5 is to wrold government, wto, nwo, secret control etc.
