The term "Black Friday" is insensitive to African-Americans, and implies that they are behind this capitalist scam. Shouldn't it be called "White Friday" or something?

Not everything with the word "black" in it has something to do with African-Americans. Black and white television doesn't have anything to do with race relations, for example. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Actually, Black Friday is derived from the days when retailers' accounting was done by hand; it marked the start of the season when their accounts would go from negative (red ink) to positive (black ink).

Bad post, especially since Black Friday is a good thing, at least for the retailers

Hey NobleActivist.

How about they call it MORON FRIDAY after you, you dumb sack of shit?

For crying out bells! Now if they call it RED Friday it means they are making fun of Indians..not the dot on the forehead ones but the feather ones.

Calling it white is making fun of albinos

If they call it grey then they are making fun of people with low blood counts.

If they call it green they are making fun of people who have over dosed on peas

Get my drift????

Perhaps it's called BLACK Friday because RETAILERS go in the BLACK that day due to those who CHOOSE to participate in the day after Thanksgiving mania shopping. Actually that isn't PERHAPS, it's the fact,Jack. Ooops that was insensitive of me thinking your name is Jack.

I think may be pink Friday? lol...

For most retailers the annual budget goes from the red (debt) to profit (black) on the Friday after Thanksgiving !

Oh get off it. It was called Black Friday when negroes were still called negroes, or colored people. Geeze, what an idiot.

Black friday is originally a term used by retail workers. It is a day they dread all year. Intriguing that the term has somehow been turned on it's head to in some way imply something positive. Ignorance is bliss.
