Most striking of all, Millennials are more willing than their elders to challenge cherished American myths about capitalism and class. According to a 2011 Pew study, Americans under 30 are the only segment of the population to describe themselves as “have nots” rather than “haves.” They are far more likely than older Americans to say that business enjoys more control over their lives than government. And unlike older Americans, who favor capitalism over socialism by roughly 25 points, Millennials, narrowly, favor socialism.

I think its always been the way for the young to be more open minded. Kids in the 60's time of free love and peace are now the warmongers and greedy business people ruling the world. The trick, I think is in living as best you can within the system, but shifting the system toward caring for all people and the planet, whereever you can and in your head, never sell out. Always remember where you came from.

Millennials, narrowly, favor socialism.

Unless we are looking at social security. They want to privatize this. So, what this means is that it is socialism for me but not for thee. This jibes with the 3x higher narcissist diagnosis rates. And that whole piece of the brain that deals with time and consequences that hasn't grown in yet and wont begin to until about 28-yep, I could do this all day long.

That said, I doubt that the older generations clearly grasp what socialism is. Thank you, fux noos. But, if you sit them down and say..........how 'bout the roads, the police, the firefighters, etc-then it starts to change. But, if you don't start with a clear definition then you wind up with a McCarthy era paranoia. Keep in mind that the Boomers grew up with little Duck and Cover songs and nuclear bomb drills. Nice fear filled pr there. Hell, I remember signs on the side of the road that were anti-Communism rhetoric and that was rolling into the 90s.

Bless their hearts.

Contrary to popular belief, the alleged peace, love open minded group of the sixties was actually very small. It was, for the most part, a bunch of middle class white boys. That was an extension of the Beat Generation.

But, what is really strange is that the generation that I have been tagged with, thanks to marketing devices, is so small compared to Boomers and Millennials that it is convenient to brush them aside. I firmly believe that Generation X is going to be rather quiet, not because they don't want to speak but because the generation before and the generation after won't shut up long enough to get a word in edgewise.

Keep in mind that PEW exists to change policy so take their crap lightly. It is made up of seven foundations. It was created by Sun Oil.

When I was a teenager, my dad told me that the only way to end the insanity was to wait for the cold war morons to die. What I didn't know is that these clowns were going to breed. Inbreeding.

As for the political analysis.....pfftt. The author neglects the fact that many Republicans left the Republican party when there was an influx of religious fanatics. They became Democrats. Clinton is a Republican. Now, he was the governor of Arkansas. He may have been viewed as a liberal in.........Arkansas. This why the parties are referred to as Republican and Republican-lite.

I'm sure it's convenient to pretend that there are only two flavors that are going on. Unfortunately, the reality is that the two arguments in this country are the same ones from its inception. There is no new left. Every generation has it's group of left. They may not have a voice until much later but it exists.

At any rate, the question should not revolve into a yes or no for socialism. I favor socialism. The question should revolve around, do you see capitalism ending any time soon? Of course not, well between now and then..........we should do everything to mitigate the disastrous consequences.
