"commerce, education and the um... umm... whats the third one there?" My god that was painful to watch. Do away with education to create individuals like him.

I enjoyed that debate. I would have preferred anyone of them over our current president. See, the thing is, this is exactly as conservatives see the our current political arena. The Party shouts Green and Women's Rights and Black Power and Born to be GAY which is OK - hoorah - and everybody says, "yea, you're right," and falls in line to vote. They dramatically overemphasize, exasperate all past efforts, to renew, strengthen, and actually widen the divide, and everybody, like lemmings, falls in line to vote while all the while corruption marches on at 2x digital speed as directed by the Ivy League which cares for nothing but riches - the new Mercedes, the houses in the Hamptons, weekends at the Vineyard.

OWS is an extension of the Party - everywhere here is the evidence of that - it's the Left's version of a Tea Party. But these aren't teetotalers - they're strictly Krug, and Dom Perignon, or Bollingers. They're predominantly white, middle aged (i.e., "old"), educated, affluent males who live in demographically pristine privately secured neighborhoods.

Not one of these people will ever attend a St Imer gathering; not one of you is real; all is about the Party and "I hope you can attend."

Good luck with that.

TP is fat, greedy, selfish white people paid for and created by the republican party and heavily involve in republican party politics. OWS is the exact opposite. What R U talkin about?

[-] -2 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

The Tea Party actually formed as a grass roots in opposition to the current politics of all persuasions; they're independent; OWS is all about Obama.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Funded by Koch - yep sounds pretty grassroots to me.

OWS is all about getting the corruption and the corrupters out of office - you know - The CorpoRATs and their CorpoRATist supporters.

If you feel that that is support for the Obamer then that is "your" perception.

No way in hell should mittens the compulsive pathological corpoRAT liar be allowed to even look at the white House in a picture!!!!

If that says that OWS supports Obamer then your perception is - to say the least - just a little twisted.

So who is on your ticket come Nov. ? Hhmmm?

I think virtually all of the contrived "issues" of our political parties are but minority social issues that do nothing more than pit individual against individual; nothing is ever negotiated to mutual satisfaction, there is no compromise, no one ever wins. As social issues, subject to the consensus of the people, they have no place in the political arena, unless the regional interchange results in difference that devolves into civil war.

I see government's primary purpose as promoting a mutual, dual prosperity, that satisfies both the corporations that seek favorable foreign market conditions and the people who derive income from the internal regional or local economy. And in fact, we are on the verge of learning this now, as the banks of the EU eventually turn to the Fed, and perhaps even to the Chinese, to prop up their economies - one world bank will rule the world, denying all a sovereignty, and so there we have it - proof positive that all government is economic at it's core.

My plan, as always, is to cast a hopeful vote for an intelligent level of fiscal conservatism; I generally lose.

Nah. Dick Army and other republican stalwarts were their at the start. they claimed they weren't part of the repub party but they quickly supported repub candidates, policies and it was obvious within weeks.

So maybe they fooled you but most people know better.

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

Not really sure about the organizational structure; I'm just a causal observer. But of the actual members I am familiar with, I know we were discussing or sharing similar mutual sentiment before it gained this official structure and label as the Tea Party.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

TP is just the far right wing arm of the repub party. OWS looks like the far left of dems but the founders and many supporters do not want to be involved with dems. I think that is fine. I think it is fine to have an outside force pushing all pols away from the right wing philosophy we have suffered under for 30 years.

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

I'm not certain there is any such thing as a right wing philosophy. In any case, it was a time of great prosperity for many people; it's not likely this country will not see such prosperity again in our life times.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

And right wing philosophy is tinkle down economics remember.?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

It wasn't prosperity for the 99%. We had stagnant wages for 30 years.

Certainly for the 1% plutocrats who made trillions keeping our wages low and charging us loan shark level interest.

But obviously OWS is working to undo that inequity.

Solidarity

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

It was prosperity for a vast majority in the NE and this is, I believe, a northeastern forum.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Destroyed the middle class in the NE, SE, NW, SW. So no! Tinkle down did not create wealth for the vast majority, It only helped the 1%. That is why we have an OWS.

Get with the program. You stand with tinkle down economics for the 1%. Or lifting up the middle class 99%?

You're either gettin behind us or you're in our fuckin way.

[-] -2 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

That's absolutely not true. It's but another contrived theme to support the party, an imaginary divide of rich against poor.

The last thirty years have been the most prosperous era in history; we've enjoyed a strong economy, low unemployment, virtually zero inflation, a stable dollar... our assets have done well and so has the market, extremely well.

That's why you fail here... while you mire yourself in self-pity and misery, everyone is busy, chasing life, building houses, buying new cars, planning for both the immediate and distant future.

I'm not part of the solution; I AM the solution.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

But what about all the debt the 1% has on us? What about the loan shark level interest they charge? What about the jobs they moved overseas.? What about the low wages we've struggled with while the 1% take more & more of the wealth that the 99% work to create.?

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

Put your game face back on, it ain't over yet.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

ok. U 2 dude. Hang on. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Falderal!

100% pure falderal.

Not a lick of sense in the lot.

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

Haha... a student of language, excellent; I like it.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Not a student, a teacher.

Can I teach you to speak the truth?

Can I encourage you not lie so blatantly?

[-] -1 points by funkytown (-374) 11 years ago

No, but you can have a seat in my class if you like.

No teacher has ever bought me with intellect, but perhaps the student can.

Obfuscation... try and stay on subject, ok?

And good luck with that McCarthyism thingy - it's already in Congress and it's definitely not sympathetic to your cause of gathering all who will have you at all cost.

The Left may have created OWS but is no longer theirs.
