On Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. United States congress put us all in this nightmare. They are the ones who legally took money from the 1% and passed laws that doomed us vs them. Lobbying opened a door for companies to purchase our elected officials. Example, a Chinese lobbyist can give millions to congress for "donations" and the next thing you know. Your job gets farmed out to China and where was our politician to help us?? Money talks and our ancestors meant well when they wrote the constitution but they left a wide open door into corruption. I urge you to please put all grievances aside and aim your power as people towards the real enemy. Think about this when you go to pay that 600$ a month school loan payment that will never go away. Congress was paid off by Sallie Mae so that there are NO regulations to protect the innocent students. I love you all for your courage and strength, you are Americas finest and without you I don't think we will escape this nightmare. Be safe and peaceful brothers and sisters!!!!!!!!!!!! Spread the word loudly "Outlaw Lobbying and make congress follow the same laws that we have to" THEY ARE NOT KINGS AND QUEENS!!! WE ARE NOT SLAVES!! They should not be exempt from sexual harassment, school loans, inside trading, and god knows what else they can get away with. They don't even have to pay tolls or fines. If you want to find the 1% its congress!!!!!!!!!!

It might interest you to know that I have read source documents from the Chinese PLA that instructs businesses in China how to bribe our Congress.

The whole world knows Congress and the President can be bribed. They've known it for decades. Finally, Americans are learning that fact.

There are a lot of improvements that need to be made. The list reforms people Americans want to see is long and varied depending on who you talk to. That said, I believe there is one reform that would provide the American people the best chances of seeing other meaningful reforms actually happen - that is REAL, loop-hope free CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM! I have seen others on this site calling this the "fulcrum" or pivotal issue. Right now the current legalized bribery, pay-to-play system of campaign donations and paid lobbyists has disenfranchised the American voter. Until this is fixed, any other reform the politicians may try to placate us with (be it a change to healthcare, clamping down predatory school loans, new financial regulations, etc.) will be about as effective as a farmer putting a new roof on his CHICKEN COOP, but still letting the FOX guard it.

We need to go back to the original political currency. Instead of the current system of who can collect the most money from corporations and special interests it should be who has the BEST IDEAS to EFFECTIVELY RUN THE COUNTRY (we don't need "Wealth Redistribution," what we need is "Political Influence Redistribution")!

For the sake our our children and future generations of Americans, we need to take back our democracy from the rich and powerful who are using their vast sums of money to "speak" as if they represent millions of Americans. This "Corporate Personhood" that has crept into our laws is allowing them to manipulating our policies in their favor at the expense of the average American (the recent "Citizens United" Supreme Court ruling is a miscarriage of justice and must be reversed. The $50 or $100 a normal American may give to a political campaign becomes meaningless when corporations or other special interests are handing our millions to buy political access to the decision making process.

For decades now the corporations and special interests have had our "representatives" bought and paid for (both on the right and the left). Concentrating our efforts on getting the money out of our politics is the best way we can create an environment in which further reforms can be realized. Until we end the current system of legalized bribery (campaign donations) and paid lobbying our politicians will continue to be the LAP DOGS of the corporations and special interests. What we need first and foremost is real, loop-hole free CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM!!!! If the corruption is not dealt with first, the chance of any other meaningful reforms becoming a reality is almost zero - the special interests will just use their money to buy votes and put forward bills that create loop-holes or otherwise twist the law in their favor. If we want our children to live in a country where there vote matters, we need to get the money out of our politics, otherwise they will increasingly become the 21st century version of the "landless peasant." Spread the word - End the LEGALIZED BRIBERY!!! CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM needs to be THE main goal of the protests!!!

Members of Congress and Senate are ALSO legally allowed to benefit from insider information. This means if they take part in a hearing on legislation that will affect the oil industry-they can LEGALLY go out and invest in the oil industry-and rake in millions.

It's against the law for ANYONE ELSE to use insider information to benefit themselves financially...think Martha Stewart. But THEY get away with it?

Legislation HAS recently been proposed to make it ILLEGAL for ANY elected representative to earn money from knowledge gained due to their positions. SUPPORT IT.

Now go find out how many of your Respresentatives came into office with a modest net worth, and today are worth millions! Start with Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, and Barney Frank....

They are blood sucking vampires. We must vote.

We vote them in so they can get bribed. Everyone has a price. We need to take away the mechanism that allows them to be bought.

I've never voted for ONE person "so they can get bribed". Speak only for yourself.

That's not what I meant, obviously. Politicians are easy prey for lobbyists. We don't want a bought congress, so we vote for the people we believe in. But what we have is a bought congress. Our system doesn't work.

Id go with only 1 change for now. Lobbying.... baby steps, they would loose their mind with the full requests. think of it like a computer that is a 486... it will take time to process the information. Ask for the poison that is killing first! Then ask for the little healing other requests once unpoisoned. ;)

Our system is fine. Systems are inert. If we put people into that system who were honest and can a moral backbone of any kind, we wouldn't be in this mess. It's the society we live in that is messed up.
