Some of the clearest and sanest thinking on the OWS protest came out of the mouth of Pulitzer-prize winning Chris Hedges in a recent interview posted on YouTube:

“The real people who are scared are the power elite. Of course, they’re trying to make you scared and us scared. But I can tell you, having been a reporter for the New York Times, that on the inside they’re very, very frightened. They do not want movements like this to grow, and they understand on some level — whether it’s subconscious or, in other cases, even overt — that THE CRIMINAL CLASS IN THIS COUNTRY HAS SEIZED POWER.”

"Hedges went on to say that the protesters should be seen as “conservatives” because “THEY CALL FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE RULE OF LAW.”

So this has nothing to do with "lefties" or "righties", "Democrats" or "Republican". What we are witnessing on Liberty Plaza and all over the country is an epic confrontation between, on the one hand, law-abiding citizens who deeply love America and the Constitution and, on the other hand, those criminals who have hijacked our government and are running the country into the ground, economically, politically and socially.

Far from being "hippies" as the media like to portray them, the OWS people are the quintessential American heroes and the true defenders of Law and Order in the right sense of those words.

And so Godspeed you! Just like the heroes of the Arab Spring, your courage and dedication will live in the memories of men long after you have left this world

They seized control back in Dec. 2000 with BV$H vs. Gore and they've never let go since.

Yeah, this is Conservative Republican Backwards World where reality is totally flipped 180 degrees. The protesters are also actually practicing and promoting Christianity much more how Jesus would have wanted than the lying hypocrites who profess Christianity while sneering at aiding the poor, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, etc.

Absolutely! The OWS Movement is profoundly Christic, or Christ-like - I don't like the term "Christian", because Christianity has mostly betrayed Jesus for 2000 years - and the values defended by OWS are actually enshrined in the Preamble to the Constitution:

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."

Note that "Justice" and "the general Welfare" are cited even before "Liberty" - how about that??? In the minds of the Founding Fathers, just as in the mind of Jesus, Social Justice was not a dirty word but a MOST SACRED collective duty.

THAT is what we need to rediscover and celebrate together as a nation.

Umm there's a lot on here about overthrowing the government ditching the constitution....It's kind of illegal to do that.

The government is chosen by "We the People" and sworn to uphold the Constitution, right?

If they betray their constituents and their oath and begin to run the country into the ground, it becomes the SACRED DUTY of each and every red-blooded American to CHALLENGE the betrayal that has taken place.

"We the People" rule. The elected are our temporary servants and when they have lost their legitimacy and our trust, it is our prerogative to boot them out, non-violently but FIRMLY AND DECISIVELY.

It DOES work like that in this country since 1776, my friend. And Thomas Jefferson even predicted that a 2nd Revolution would one day be necessary. WELCOME TO AMERICA! Or perhaps Monsieur would prefer to move to Saudi Arabia and enjoy the pleasures of theocratic rule???

Jesus, Socrates, the Buddha, etc., did all kinds of "illegal things". When "the laws of men" contradict "the Laws of God", what choice do you have? Where is your duty? To men or to your conscience? Even the Catholic Church (!) recognizes that obedience to God trumps all others.

Your kind of hiding-behind-the-law thinking reminds me ot the trial of Eichmann, the Nazi mass-murderer. "But I was only following my superior's orders!" he pleaded. And he was right, of course : his conduct was strictly legal... in the eyes of men. But the Laws of God have precedence... THANK GOD!
