This is actually going to help the potential terrorists attack the U.S. better. We fought the Cold War trying to track every single piece of space junk 24/7 flying around the world so that we can tell which piece of junk is new that may be an ICBM coming at the U.S. Imagine when 30000 drones are in our domestic airspace. Can we really tell which ones are still friendly to the U.S.? Can the terrorists hijack the drones electronically and attack our cities such as D.C. and New York with virtually no notice? Knowing about the cyber-attacks that have already happened, can the U.S. guard against the hacking that will inevitably occur? All electronic signals are subject to interception and interference. Putting vast number of drones in our domestic airspace will complicate, not simplify the task of homeland defense, unless domestic surveillance is the true objective. This was probably a knee-jerk reaction by our government which does NOT retain much of its own history and is scared stiff to try to grasp at last straws.

Ask those old hands during the Cold War what they most wanted for a Christmas present -- a truly powerful vacuum cleaner for use in SPACE to suck up all of those pesky space junks! Now, we may be heading towards creating many more potential zero-day weapons (all falling debris can be weapons - the Israelis can explain this very well why concrete in Gaza City can be weaponized) in our domestic airspace.

Calm down. The U.S. is only undergoing the symptoms of a mighty demigod turning inwards to its inevitable paroxyms. We have the capacity to collect almost ALL information and have computers analyze them to the nth degree. Did that effort tell us anything useful to prevent a terrorist strike? Are real terrorists stupid enough to use plain language? After almost every successful terrorist attack, the U.S. always seems to have collected relevant information to stop the attack but it still slipped through its fingers. Why is that? Having seen the quality of the people running our governments, I surmise that we have many there who are incapable of connecting the dots, many who even though had connected the dots did not have the audacity to break bureaucratic rules to achieve worthwhile ends, and many who know exactly what is going on but still guard the charade religiously because it is in their selfish interest. These drones will collect even more data to clog up the U.S. intelligence system which is already suffering from data indigestion. The data will probably be abused just as in the Nixon days to political ends eventually. Obama knows how to play the same tricks as Nixon.

The Federation Aviation Administration said up to 30,000 drones could be in airspace shared with airliners carrying passengers!

30,000 ??????????????? WTF ? ???????

IT looks like the US government is about to declare war on American citizens. They are taking taxpayer money to build 30,000 drones to spy on the taxpayers? For what reason ........ to keep us safer? Be ready for a false flag event to kick this program off. Nice

I hope people will take the time to do their own independent research and share this info with their friends. This is why I like this site. I learn news I cannot find in the mainstream media. Thanx for bringing this to our attention!

Hey, somebody has to play the straight guy for all the masses of brain dead nimrods who will buy into anything signed in DC as being a good effort to make our nation better.

In case you missed it, mainstream finds nothing wrong with NDAA 2012, and many even defend it.

You people expect far too much from a majority that has DONE NOTHING even about even the clearly exposed and very unlawful treasonous wealth extraction by congress.....

Drones just mean robot planes it will be interesting to see how this goes and what this might bring to society we may have cargo planes fly themselves or something.

Better police and disaster response could also benefit from this to help find people.

this sounds like a good idea to me and i was already thinking of building a drone for my own use in the summer of just studying how to do it and for the fun.

Well, it would seem you too are afflicted with the same painfully average intellect of the 80% since you seem detached from obvious realities.

Nothing upsets the majority of the masses because they do not comprehend, nor are they able to think for themselves.

The upper 10%, in intellect, are patently aware of these fatal truths.

teaching pigs to sing would be less time wasted than trying to explain things to barely above average faculties and abilities to see beyond the vision of the controlled and owned mainstream, who are quite comfortable with the arrangement
