The Masters Teach Morality 8/5/14

The corporations are only concerned with profit. If people are hurt by their actions, those are externalities to corporations. Externalities are costs offloaded to the community that can increase corporate profitability. While the government thinks mostly of corporate well being, they sometimes think of yours. Corporations never do.

The only moral question I will consider is whose side are you on? If you're not on my side, you're morally wrong!

Evil is the harm that's done. When I am harmed, that's evil to me.

''Love is a serious problem in our world. There is too much of it.''

''In essence, love is a feeling. It is not something you experience as a thought, although a thought might arise from the feeling. Love precipitates a certain type of behavior. This might include showing someone that we care about them deeply. Often, it means taking action that demonstrates our love. Perhaps even that we are willing to make concessions or sacrifices for their benefit. Depending on the context, love might be accompanied by some companion feelings such as compassion, empathy and sympathy.

''The problem with love is that it might incline us to act with genuine concern for others. In fact, we might act as if someone else or others in general are as important as are we. And if we did that, it would ruin our chances of getting as much as we can for ourselves at the expense of those around us.'' from :

Do Corporations feel ''love'' ? Or, is that a function of 'brand awareness'' and ''Public Relations'' for them ? Is feeling love the defining aspect of one's full human 'personhood' ? Does the lack of ability to love or be loved - constitute 'psychopathy' ? Are Corporations - commodifying, controlling and co-opting us and our 'democracies' ? Are Corporations Psychopaths? Who owns these Corporations ?

Answer - Parasites and Psychopaths ... Happy To 'Cremate Care' and keep us atomised and alienated from each other - so as to easier turn us into frightened, worker / consumer units, who were dangerous when they realised their collective ''Wage Slavery'' - so then also had to be made into 'Indentured Debt Slaves' too.

Wall Street and The City of London are the biggest arenas of our being bought and sold as collateral and/or derivatives of debt. The 0.01% Parasite Class have almost perfected their house of cards, Debt Ponzi Scheme, Matrix of Money illusions. It was actually time to wake up to their smoke and mirrors, illusions of freedom - yesterday.

Re-occupy You Own Mind. Love and its functions is our only, eternal and certain hope. The 99.99% have nothing to lose but the chains in our own minds .. the possibilities are beautiful, limitless and imaginable - IF we can reclaim our individual and collective imaginations.

"If you want your child to love themselves and others, it is essential that you do not terrorize them into doing what you want (or you must let them have their feelings about your violence if, occasionally, you do terrorize them). If you love your child, let them behave in accordance with their own feelings, not yours. That is what evolution intended. It had a few billion years to work it out."

That is particularly meaningful to me today. What a great article. Thanks.

And, in compliment, a good one from George Monbiot:

"Sick of this market-driven world? You should be"

"The self-serving con of neoliberalism is that it has eroded the human values the market was supposed to emancipate"

"So, if you don’t fit in, if you feel at odds with the world, if your identity is troubled and frayed, if you feel lost and ashamed – it could be because you have retained the human values you were supposed to have discarded. You are a deviant. Be proud."

''You are a deviant. Be proud." !!! Respect to you bw !! And to your moniker !

The 99.99% can be saved by a true spiritual embracing of 'The Golden Rule'.

"Imagine that instead of Palestinian children, it was Jewish children living under a Palestinian embargo that denied them toys, books, music and until a few years ago, even pasta. How do you think the world would react?"

Very powerful. Thank you.

"Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself." – Confucius

"That which you hate to be done to you, do not do to another." - From a Late Period Egyptian (c. 664 BC – 323 BC) papyrus

"Do not do to others that which angers you when they do it to you." – Isocrates (436–338 BC)

"Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. - Udanavarga 5:18

"If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next" Main Street Preachers, lyrics:

"The future teaches you to be alone The present to be afraid and cold So if I can shoot rabbits Then I can shoot fascists

Bullets for your brain today But we'll forget it all again Monuments put from pen to paper Turns me into a gutless wonder

And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next Will be next Will be next Will be next

Gravity keeps my head down Or is it maybe shame At being so young and being so vain

Holes in your head today But I'm a pacifist I've walked La Ramblas But not with real intent

And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next Will be next Will be next Will be next Will be next

And on the street tonight an old man plays With newspaper cuttings of his glory days

And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next And if you tolerate this Then your children will be next Will be next Will be next Will be next "

And, finally, in addition, a quote from Edmund Burke:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

[-] 3 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

Again from Edmund Burke : "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" + "If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next" ! Thanx btw bw for the lyrics :-)

(Hashtag)FloodWallStreet

"On Monday, September 22nd at 9am, thousands of people will gather at Battery Park in Lower Manhattan to confront the root cause of the climate crisis - an economic system based on exploiting frontline communities, workers, and natural resources. On the heels of the largest-ever march on climate change, we have an opportunity to transform our energy systems and our economic systems, and in fact - they cannot be separated.

Wearing blue to represent the sea that surrounds us, we rise to the steps of the NY Stock Exchange at 12 pm, flooding the area with our bodies in a massive sit-in - a collective act of nonviolent civil disobedience to confront the system that both causes, and profits from the crisis that is threatening humanity. Full call to action and information: http://floodwallstreet.net 9 AM - Gather @ Battery Park - Breakfast and Music from Rude Mechanical Orchestra 9:30 AM - Speakers - including frontline community leaders of the Climate Justice Alliance, Global Ambassadors from 350.org, Rebecca Solnit and Chris Hedges 11 AM -- Nonviolent Direct Action Training & March 12 PM -- Flood Wall St. and Mass Sit-In

I got that all in an email from "Occupy Wall Street" and am wondering why it's not on the front page of this website. Solidarity with what seems like a great idea. We need more actions like these that are non-violent, yet make a powerful statement that we've had enough.

We have to ask - wtf is going on with this forum these days ?!!! Why is 'storg' marginalising itself ?!! Is the forum supposed to wither on the vine or ... can it be what it once was ?!

OPEN up ''the sign in page'' ffs jart & start either speaking to us OR leave it to us to keep this forum going as best we can - but it is doomed without new entrants .. even IF some of those 'new entrants' aren't so new, lol but either way .. we really do need some positive action now.

Thanx for the very important comment and linx bw & - SOLIDARITY @ #S22 !! http://floodwallstreet.net/

''Occupy Wall Street - is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. The creation and globalization of this movement would not have been possible without the tool of the internet and communication through cyberspace. The main website ( https://occupywallst.org/ ) serves as the greatest compilation of all the conglomerates relating to the movement, and further serves as an archive of events and an attempt to define the “edges” of the movement. It is this numerous assemblage of resources that makes the movement’s “edges” unclear, allowing Benedict Anderson’s text, ''Imagined Communities'', to be directly applied, as occupywallst.org is an “imagined community.” - Taken from the following academic paper which was sent to me by a very dear friend of mine and the forum :

The People's Climate March, NYC, September 21, 2014

http://www.sierraclub.org/peoples-climate-march

"Watching all this, I contemplated how much could be achieved if all of this effort, ingenuity, and engineering prowess were instead directed toward developing clean power? Why go to so much trouble to do something so difficult and so destructive when you could invest the same effort into something positive that can literally save the world and power it?That’s why it’s so important that, as a society, we increase the pressure on our leaders to take action right now to advance clean energy solutions and resist the temptation to drill, mine, and frack as if there were no consequences and no tomorrow.

And that’s why I’ll march along with thousands of Sierra Club members and so many others in New York City on September 21.

The People’s Climate March will be the biggest demonstration of its kind in U.S. history." Michael Brune

And, thanks for that excellent piece by Sara Dittrich. Made me a little wistful of the days when this site and forum were better managed.

The "Sign Up" page on this site is a 404 page, so no new people can join! And, there is nothing on the front page about the upcoming third anniversary of Occupy Wall Street.

I don't think what you feel and believe is really important. Especially vis à vis myself. I'm just a guy on the Internet. I like your links and I say keep sharing them. That should be enough no?

What's the point of making false accusations, implying that I lie, and trying to incite squabbling and babbling? There really is no point at all,

Whether you believe I am concern trolling or not doesn't matter. I'll keep posting real concerns. Who cares what the motivation is behind those posts. The concerns and ideas remain very important and very real.

Oh, did I forget the title promised teaching? They teach by vomiting forth Friedman's economic phisosophy and it's all done by example.

It's really not worth much but they need the rationalization for parasitization of the community, in order to make themselves rich.

They are the principle harm done to us all and the greatest threat and enemy the human race has ever known.

[-] 3 points by agkaiser (2516) from Fredericksburg, TX 9 years ago

I'm not sure the capitalism of the 50s and 60s is any more sustainable in the long run but it sure was better for the 99% than the winner take all contemporary economy/fraud that will fail more utterly and quickly.
