Forum Post: The “Both-sides-are-awful” Dismissal of the two-party system Ignores the Key Role of the Republican Party.

Occupy Wall Street, came to the forefront when the bankers broke our country and our government placed our retirements, education and health care at risk to save them.

For decades the GOP have fought against public funding for election, against minimum wage, against labor laws, now to fully express our anger, many say we must “bring down the system”.

They would rather cry like babies than face this problem; they fear that “their” words won’t be heard in the vast “liberal” Democratic Party.

These are people more concerned with their own egos than the nation, perhaps in time OWS will dry it’s eyes and take a long hard look at the GOP, err I mean the problem…

yes republicans were the only problem 30 years ago things are different now. the new democrats are firmly in charge. they have marginalized the liberal democrats and the progressive democrats. this is a byproduct of the republican parties ability to move the country from left of center to right of center. this is done by presenting an opposite truth to the truth. but of course there is only one truth. this is made possible by democrats refusal to stop entertaining the batshit crazy arguments they present thereby lending them credence and legitimacy. this is how we got to where we are politically.

I don't recall using the word "only" a person can have a cold and have cancer at the same time, in that case cancer wouldn't be your only problem but it might be your biggest.

I believe the Republican Party has become a cancer to America and if we don't cut it out it will kill us.

We should probably take care of that cold too...

I agree with all that, but we still need them to pass legislation and reforms : as they can filibuster, and do all there dirty tricks they have mastered, we need them to think we are buying into their ideas, at least superficially, so they won't sabotage needed reforms.

I think it will take strong leadership to encourage all these reforms. Initially, in constitution, it is congress who is supposed to lead on these issues. They should start doing a way better job of leading. Repubs have a majority in house, but seem morally bankrupt, unable to lead, are a group who does not want to lead. So we have crony capitalism, both sides are way in to it, giving perks to corps, in a symbiosis. all corporate subsidies should end. Tax credits for solar installs, if rebate goes to consumer, should be ok as this is part of national defense of country and environment. Tax credits for higher education good. Also, reform tax code a good idea. Wealth tax looks good. Close many loopholes. I think we need to look to any ideas to fix this mess, regardless of old party stereotypes. Rich and congress people should pay a bit more for letting deficit get out of control. They control the governmenent. They shoul pay more for that privilege, not less. Sure some government may be a too big. Defense is one area. Homeland security. There are other areas. Maybe fiscal cliff will make everyone perform there job.

Also, leadership from the people, to hold them all accountable for this, even personally financially make the rich pay a higher rate, that is there penalty for not monitoring the deficits better.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

All of this has been made possible because of simple lies they tell that sound like truths, I could go over a few but you know them well, we can change that.

I think that a new kind of "leadership" is possible, one that merely accepts what is, is, the power of that is immense.

If we tell the truth without fail, day in and day out, expose the lies, well I think people are mostly good and we just got in a mess cause we been getting lied to.

We dominated in 08 and got a record victory.

And then got shit on.

Time to grow up.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

It is time to grow up!

Get in the street and agitate all pols for change that benefits the 99% and stop whining like a child!

I shouldn't play with hc, it reminds me of playing chess with the girls that sat outside the consular's office in HS, no challenge but it really makes you feel smart.

(picked my ex from that group though so it wasn't a total waste of time ;))

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

He does ask for it, and I have no patience for his tunnel vision.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

he is but a think tank construct, no matter his "nature"

if he had a mind he would become confused and think for a bit, then all his allusions would fade away, but alas he has replaced his mind with a wallet

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

And I think he has become comfortable being a punching bag. He may yet think his conservative posturing has some affect here.

He is tired and old in his agenda. I have less & less patients for him.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

it's always tricky assigning motives, their lies are like fuel to my fire, I see within each one the human suffering it represents and and am inspired...

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Very good. Whatever floats your boat. He is transparent and useless.

[-] -2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Thats a nice comment on girls there. So the girls sitting there werent able to compete with you on a mental level? What about the guys sitting there? Would they kick your ass? No wonder you're fuckin divorced.

Perhaps if you didnt think like that, things would be better.

Fuck that, people wanna talk down on women are hypocritcal. I know plenty of women that would destroy half of these clowns in an iq test.

There is no room whatsoever for this.

"(picked my ex from that group though so it wasn't a total waste of time ;))"

So this guy PICKED his wife? What the fuck is this, Saudi Arabia?

Fuck that.

I know a few girls that would have your nuts in a sling if you said that to them.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I knew you would go all sexist, no you're wrong again, no one could play for shit compared to me (except one), I played them round robin and never lost, man or woman, I may have mentioned, I was born this way.

Yes I did, you have not "picked" one I take it? Not surprising there, of course people like you just float through life doing what their Masters tell them, after all that's what you're doing here isn't it?

PS what kind of school did you go to, where guys sit outside the consular's office on break, none of the guys I knew did that, sure I'd stop by to play a game a flirt a bit, but just "hang out" there? weird for dude, at least when I was in school.

[-] -3 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Whatever. How old are you?

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

how much does the GOP pay you to do this shit, they are getting ripped off whatever it is....

why? you want a date?

[-] -2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

You just seem to be a bit out of touch...

"PS what kind of school did you go to, where guys sit outside the consular's office on break, none of the guys I k new did that, sure I'd stop by to play a game a flirt a bit, but just "hang out" there? weird for dude, at least when I was in school"

I honestly have no freakin clue what you are talking about here.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

ohh did I not pass your hip test? are you concerned that I might be living in a social vacuum? how sweet of you to care, but sorry long distance relationships are not my thing

I wonder if there is enough time left before the Sun goes nova to go over all the things you don't get.

[-] -3 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

So why would it be weird for a dude to hang out next to the consular's office? Whats the stigma there?

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Look man if we run into each other I'd love to walk down memory lane with ya, but I don't see how it helps us solve the current problems, so I'll pass, maybe you should throw in some teen flicks, if you're getting all nostalgic.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Yes. I don't disagree. I like telling him he is wrong. The opportunity is frequent and always satisfying.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I guess you two like getting played. I dont

Keep denying reality. Your whole entire goal is get another election like 08. What did that get you? Next to nothing. A bunch of minor bullshit with no major changes.

PS- if this moron Vkag is agreeing with you, you arent being radical enough.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

You are not much for learnin' are you? I have been very clear, my goal is the compete destruction of the Republican Party, that's why you don't like me, you are being paid by them to try and stop me, but you're getting your ass kicked.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

But you said you didn't want to be an "Ass."

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

My goal this election was stopping right wing extremists. You don't speak for my fuckface!

Now my goal is to get in the street and protest all pols for change that benefits the 99%.

I suppose you will continue your single minded, 1 dimensional, partisan attack against a single politician.

Transparent partisanship!

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

It's Class War, 1% tyranny over the 99%, we now must fight back.

Let's recognize the enemy: http://occupywallst.org/forum/the-gops-surrender-document/

The democrats have won. It's up to them to change the systems that run this country.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

some Republicans won too, we are not safe while that is still happening in America, stay watchful

[-] -1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

So until there is one party rule America is not "safe". Okay. So you are anti democracy?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

32 of the 33 votes against quicker afghan withdrawal were republican.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=112&session=2&vote=00210

This is why repubs are the problem.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

you of little faith, one party can't happen nature abhors a vacuum, besides weren't you basically saying we have one party now?

[-] -1 points by clamor (-40) from Hopatcong, NJ 11 years ago

No public funding of elections. That violates individual freedom by forcing people to pay for electioneering through taxes, whether they want to or not. No thanks.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

no more so than war forces people to pay for killing they don't believe in, this is something that was settled long ago

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

It's the only way to get evil corp !% plutocrats out of the govt. It's the only way for the people to take back the govt from the oligarchs that prey on our families.

Support Movetoamend.org, Support money out of politics, Support public funded campaigns.

[-] 0 points by clamor (-40) from Hopatcong, NJ 11 years ago

No, it's evil to keep forcing your point of view on others. Just stay the fook away from me and my wallet, asswipe. You want to support something, YOU support it and stop hitting up others for money.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I can't force anything on anyone. I am endeavoring to convince everyone (even you) that it is better for us (the 99%!) to remove corp control of govt. That means removing all money from politics, which in turn requires we fund campaigns.

Not forcing, Persuading.

Are you persuaded? If not how do you propose we take back the peoples govt from the corp 1% plutocrats?

[-] -1 points by clamor (-40) from Hopatcong, NJ 11 years ago

Yea, right. Your game of lumping people into groups and then pitting them up against each other for revenue is getting old; black against white, rich against poor, business owner against non-business owner, young against old, this percent against that percent, etc., etc, etc. No thanks.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I have absolutely not done that. What people/groups are you referring to.?

I think everyone chooses their own groups I do not lump anyone anywhere, nor do I pit anyone against each other.

What makes you spew these lies? Can't debate the issues? So you gotta resort to unfounded personal attacks?

LOL

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

run for fucking office if you want to decide how we spend the fucking money, or how much of your fucking money we take, you have your say others have theirs, that's what democracy looks like
