Forum Post: Tell Congress to End Campaign Fundraising While In-Session

Hi,

I've started an online petition that focuses on Congress and their despicable behavior while in-session. Reports reveal that members of Congress spend between 25-50 percent of their time campaign fundraising while in-session. Essentially, their lack of focus on the job at hand promotes outsourcing their actual work to lobbyists and the special interests. This is one of the reasons that nothing gets done, because their concern stands more towards financing their next election bid and less towards deliberating legislation and its effects on the country as a whole.

Help me by signing my online petition, letting Congress know that we won't stand for campaign fundraising while in-session. Because, quite frankly, we should show the same concern for their careers that they do for people struggling and out of work.

Thanks for helping!

83% of Americans already agree on it
as stated in the ABC/Washington Post poll
In the the PFAW Poll -

85% of voters say that corporations have too much influence over the political system today.
77% think Congress should support an amendment to limit the amount corporations can spend on elections.
74% say that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate for Congress who pledged to support a Constitutional Amendment limiting corporate spending in elections.
