Aren't they cutting employee's hours to stop them from receiving healthcare?

[-] -1 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

if you have over 50 employees you must have obamacare for them so companies are cutting their workforce. if your employee works over 30 hrs, they are considered full time, so compnaies are cutting hours.

[-] 4 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

But do you honestly believe that these multi-million dollar restaurants can't afford healthcare for their employees? These companies make millions off their workers, but can't provide health insurance? So, instead of providing healthcare, they cut hours. This is a perfect example of the 1% ruining workers. They can't have their way, so they punish their employees. I am boycotting Them, and any other business I can.

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

health insurance adds a1/3 to the cost of healthcare

[-] 1 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

Well, if we backed out of these wars, we could afford universal healthcare...

[-] -3 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

forced to provide healthcare by the govt is fascsim.

[-] 2 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

So, forcing companies to take care of their hard working employees is fascism? I think facsim is a government that looks out for the wealthy and the wealthy only. I think fascism is where the media purposely misinforms the population to further a nationalistic, war mongering agenda, friend. Multi million dollar companies providing healthcare to their companies, ethical. My problem is that the government had to step in. These companies should have done this to begin with. The healhcare bill falls way short, and I would at least like to see a single payer program. Capitalism does not take care of the people. I'd like to see such a system ended. I've never seen so many people defend a system that works for so few. of course, we have a corporate run media, so, obviously, they will push capitalism.

[-] -1 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

the govt "forcing",.........yes thats fascism.

[-] 2 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

Well, what would you do? How would you look out for these employees?

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

the corporate media has an agenda. its all about covering for obama. they are not about news, they are about agenda.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Seems more like they lean right for fear of being accused of favoring the left.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/how-biased-is-the-media-really/2012/04/27/gIQA9jYLmT_story.html

Not to mention the FOX/clearchannel right wing PR machine!

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

the washington post is left wing.the msm doesn nothing but cover b.o.'s ass.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I don't get that. But who cares? The media conglomerates should be broken up just like the banks.

They failed to report on the Bush lies that created the decade of war, they certainly failed in giving the weak climate change deniers equal time, & failed in not cover OWS fairly, among other failings, incl not reporting dem failures.

That is why internet news is expanding, And will! So the MSM will swim right, or sink!

US Government for US People

Yes because of obummerCare. 100's of business's are doing this

[-] 5 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

These are multi-million dollar companies. They can afford healthcare. I believe healthcare to be a right. These companies are taking this out on their employees. Perfect example of abuse by the 1%. I will boycott any business I find doing this.

[-] -1 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

Some people and or organizations want the "freedom" of choosing their "own healthcare" provider, without the Gov providing one for them. Everything the Gov gets involved in turns to shit

[-] 1 points by WiccanRevolutionary (63) from South Charleston, OH 11 years ago

Or the "freedom" to provide none? Unacceptable. These employees deserve healthcare. I don't like Obama. I don't like how his bill favors insurance companies. I support universal healthcare. So, the bill falls far short to me. But the Democrats are corporatists in disguise...

Universal Health Care.

[+] -5 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

I would only support it if everyone had to join on. Some business's and the Gov is exempt from it

[-] 2 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

Currently, the U.S. health care system is outrageously expensive, yet inadequate. Despite spending more than twice as much as the rest of the industrialized nations ($8,160 per capita), the United States performs poorly in comparison on major health indicators such as life expectancy, infant mortality and immunization rates. Moreover, the other advanced nations provide comprehensive coverage to their entire populations, while the U.S. leaves 51 million completely uninsured and millions more inadequately covered.

The reason we spend more and get less than the rest of the world is because we have a patchwork system of for-profit payers. Private insurers necessarily waste health dollars on things that have nothing to do with care: overhead, underwriting, billing, sales and marketing departments as well as huge profits and exorbitant executive pay. Doctors and hospitals must maintain costly administrative staffs to deal with the bureaucracy. Combined, this needless administration consumes one-third (31 percent) of Americans’ health dollars.

Single-payer financing is the only way to recapture this wasted money. The potential savings on paperwork, more than $400 billion per year, are enough to provide comprehensive coverage to everyone without paying any more than we already do.

Under a single-payer system, all Americans would be covered for all medically necessary services, including: doctor, hospital, preventive, long-term care, mental health, reproductive health care, dental, vision, prescription drug and medical supply costs. Patients would regain free choice of doctor and hospital, and doctors would regain autonomy over patient care.

Physicians would be paid fee-for-service according to a negotiated formulary or receive salary from a hospital or nonprofit HMO / group practice. Hospitals would receive a global budget for operating expenses. Health facilities and expensive equipment purchases would be managed by regional health planning boards.

A single-payer system would be financed by eliminating private insurers and recapturing their administrative waste. Modest new taxes would replace premiums and out-of-pocket payments currently paid by individuals and business. Costs would be controlled through negotiated fees, global budgeting and bulk purchasing.

[-] 2 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 11 years ago

I don't believe you have to eliminate private insurers all together to support a single payer system. The biggest difference between public and private HC is the speed of the system. Rich people will pay big $ to be able to buy into a faster system. Let the private insurers/providers raise their prices and tax them. The private industry say's they can't compete with gov run HC. Nonsense, of course they can.

[-] 0 points by agkaiser (2516) from Fredericksburg, TX 11 years ago

For profit FIRE is dangerous and a threat to life on Planet Earth. Put out the for profit FIRE! Do in common all that we need in common. Do it all on a non profit basis, of by and for the people. To hell with the rich and their for profit parasitization of the Human Race.

[+] -5 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

Like I said before I would not mind it, only if "everyone" had to sign on for it. We get obamacare and the Gov will still get their own insurance program financed from us. That is not fair

[+] -4 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

unions ( obama supporters) got waivers , they do not have be the victims of obamacare.

[+] -4 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

True and congress and most Gov workers are also exempt. We are getting it shoved down our throats and why not theirs also??

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

simple answer,.......POLITICS.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

In stead of ranting about something you can do NOTHING about-
what do you plan to do to improve America?

[-] -2 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

I am all for making changes for the better as long as everybody plays and pays. But certain individuals get to skate out of things that the rest of us have to eat

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 11 years ago

And the reason this happens is that "certain people" can give money to our politicians
STOP THAT
and then America will be of the people, by the people, for the people

BOYCOTT PAPA JOHNS!

The ACA will save people & govt money. If papa johns cuts hours to avoid providing healthcare to it's employees they should be punished

Never had their product but as a ny'r I can't in good conscience call it pizza. Their employees should avoid eating that crap as a 1st step in good healthcare.

Boycott papa johns

[+] -5 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

Some corporations and or unions are exempt from signing onto obamacare only because of their generous campaign contributions. Why should they be allowed to skip out of it, while others get it crammed down their throats. Also the Gov employees also do not have to sign onto obamacare either because obama said they already have another "golden insurance coverage"

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

BOYCOTT PAPA JOHNS!!

A list of corps/unions does not prove they are getting waivers because of campaign contributions.

In fact my research on this longstanding republican talking point is that it has not happened.

You have offered no evidence, and neither have the republicans (who spew the same unsubstantiated accusations), because there is no evidence.

Just partisan lies.

[+] -4 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

Look it up for yourself, it is all over the web. The only good obamacare will do is for the illegals

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

BOYCOTT PAPA JOHNS!!

"illegals"? That is a slur! Please refrain. Undocumented immigrants will not be covered by the ACA. That is just more republican partisan lies.

And I already researched your campaign contributor waiver favoritism and found it to be unfounded. There is no evidence. It is just another republican partisan lie.

"YOU LIE!"

[-] 0 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

illegals is slur? how so? they are in this county illegally, they are law breakers.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You don't the details of each ones situation. They are hard working decent immigrants. Many have come legally and had the bureaucratic laws screw up their status. Any who are found to be here illegally are deported. We have deported almost half a million a year.

Otherwise those that are here are innocent until proven guilty.

So the comment is not accurate and offensive. The real criminals are the businesses who knowingly hire non citizens to save money.

You got a slur for them?

[-] -2 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

What evidence do you have that Pres Obama is a fascist.?//////////////////////////////Obummer is a facist and a closet muslim. He hates America

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

illegals. not a slur , a fact. the obama adminstration had been advertising in mexico to help ILLEGALS get into the usa and teach them how to get on welfare and get food stamps. obama & co are destroying the usa as founded.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

That is absolutely not true! Pres Obama has deported more undocumented immigrants than any Pres in history.

The immigration issue is no problem at all. Republicans are about to cave after getting their racist asses handed to them by Latino Americans.

LMFAO.

You are clearly a dishonest, anti Dem partisan.

Just you spew unfounded accusations from yourword hole don't make 'em true!

Tired, childish, dishonest. You sound like sore loser.

Election is over. Time to put partisanship behind us. Get in the street, And pressure all pols for progressive change.

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

the only jobs that govt creates are govt jobs. a healthy economy comes from the private sector.let the republicans obstruct the dictatorship of b.o.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

What evidence do you have that Pres Obama is a dictator?

Govt can incentivize private job creation. As Pres Obama has (without traitorous republicans obstruction) done to the tune of almost 5 million jobs.

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

over 1000 executive orders that circumvent the constitution. one branch of govt ( executive) the rules, no checks and balances as laid out in the constitution.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Not evidence of fascism. That is evidence that republicans in congress have obstructed all Dem efforts to create jobs & strengthen the Obama recovery.

Go to dictionary.com, plug in 'fascism' & try again.

LMFAO whatta joke!

[-] -2 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

i have no jealousy of a fascist.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

[+] -4 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

b.o is the embodiment of affirmative action.came from nothing? who paid for the very expensive punahou school?who paid for columbia and harvard? b.o. is a fraud. ms. b.o. went on about how they were still paying off school loans, when b.o.'s mother died she left b.o. over $500,000.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Aaaaaaaah Ha Ha Ha!

He started out being raised by a single mother on welfare.

You're just jealous maybe?

[+] -4 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

no matter what you tow the party lies( yes lies, not line), i never though anyone could be so lacking in critical thinking , but your type is not allowed to think, just regurgitate.thats why you're the perfect pawn. do your own search and you'll get a lot of results. obama & co placed commercials in mexico to instruct mexicans ( with help form the mexican govt) how to apply for food stamps. do the search. i did and i got a myriad of results. b.o is anti america, anti american.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I disagree. That is absolutely ridiculous. Pres Obama is the embodiment of the American dream! Came up from nothing, lifted himself out of poverty (with help from his fam, & gov) And succeeded.

He is working to create that opportunity for everyone. He is working to get all Americans OFF of welfare and into work.

Repubs have blocked every Dem effort to create jobs & strengthen the Obama recovery! The repubs even filibustered the 1million vet jobs bill.

These are facts! not partisan lies.

Peace

[+] -4 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

[+] -4 points by ftrp (-95) 11 years ago

do your own search, you'll get plenty of results. b.o. had commercials running in mexico to get illegals into the usa and how to get on welfare and food stamps. the racist are and have always been the democrats, they startd the kkk, were always against integration.

[-] 4 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You're out of touch with reality.

Dem party WAS the racist party but that changed by the early '70's w/ Nixons southern strategy.

Pres Obama absolutely did not place to draw illegal immigrants here with instructions to apply for welfare.

You are delusional.

the commercials were real. the racists are the dems/leftys/progressives. always were, always have been.

Papa John's falls on news of class-action suit Associated Press – 21 hrs ago.. .

http://news.yahoo.com/papa-johns-falls-news-class-action-suit-202357843--finance.html

NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of Papa John's declined on Tuesday following news of class-action certification for a lawsuit that claims the pizza chain had unsolicited text messages sent to cell phones.

THE SPARK: The lawsuit filed with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Seattle claims Papa John's violated state and federal law when they had the marketing company OnTime4U send unsolicited text messages on its behalf to cell phones advertising their pizza products. The lawsuit says that 500,000 illegal text messages were sent to Papa John's customers across the U.S.

Papa John's faces potential damages of more than $250 million. The plaintiffs may each potentially receive $500 or more in damages for each text message.

Messages left with Papa John's seeking comment were not immediately returned.

SHARE ACTION: Papa John's International Inc.'s stock fell 34 cents to $49.10 in afternoon trading after dropping as low as $46.72 earlier in the session. Over the past year, the shares have traded in a range of $35.21 to $56.41.

Oklahoma letter to the editor? LOL. Members of congress should give up there healthcare but that doesn't change the great benfits for all people and money savings that the ACA provides.

All we need to do is force the public option/put private health insurers out of office.

That's the last remaining element to accomplish.

Get in the street. Are you with us?

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

Yes, congress is already covered. Why a pizza place? Do you really think you have the potential to make any point by using a bottom dollar deadbeat employer? The only thing you accomplish is to reinforce the narrative that spoiled brats of privilege are petulant, greedy, and spineless.

[+] -4 points by DogBone (-201) 11 years ago

The cost of obamacare to employers (with the exception of the chosen few) is going to cost them big bucks. Their is a lot of corporations / and other small business's that are already downsizing and or closing up shop because of obamacare

[-] 1 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

Nobody is closing shop because of the ACA. If there are such happenings, link please. Secondly, if the few dollars that the ACA will cost employers is such a biz breaker, how are they going to deal with having to pay a living wage? The economy goes through these cycles every time inflation outpaces wages. The only way to prevent these catastrophic downturns is to ensure consumer "working people" have not only the ability to pay their own way but to also contribute to the economy through disposable income. The well-to-do may feel they are the masters of the universe but 99% of consumers are working class and if they don't have money, businesses don't have customers. All the arrogance in the world won't change that reality. Put your ego in your pocket and get on the reality bus with the rest of us, or just go cry in your beer.
