59 Mini-Heritage Foundations.

As if ALEC wasn't enough.

They just can't destroy Democracy fast enough to satisfy the likes of DeVos', the Koch's and the Petersons and many more drooling corporatist's.

This is going to take some time to absorb.

The Powell Memo (also known as the Powell Manifesto)

The Powell Memo was first published August 23, 1971 Introduction

In 1971, Lewis F. Powell, then a corporate lawyer and member of the boards of 11 corporations, wrote a memo to his friend Eugene Sydnor, Jr., the Director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The memorandum was dated August 23, 1971, two months prior to Powell’s nomination by President Nixon to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Powell Memo did not become available to the public until long after his confirmation to the Court. It was leaked to Jack Anderson, a liberal syndicated columnist, who stirred interest in the document when he cited it as reason to doubt Powell’s legal objectivity. Anderson cautioned that Powell “might use his position on the Supreme Court to put his ideas into practice…in behalf of business interests.”

Though Powell’s memo was not the sole influence, the Chamber and corporate activists took his advice to heart and began building a powerful array of institutions designed to shift public attitudes and beliefs over the course of years and decades. The memo influenced or inspired the creation of the Heritage Foundation, the Manhattan Institute, the Cato Institute, Citizens for a Sound Economy, Accuracy in Academe, and other powerful organizations. Their long-term focus began paying off handsomely in the 1980s, in coordination with the Reagan Administration’s “hands-off business” philosophy.

Most notable about these institutions was their focus on education, shifting values, and movement-building — a focus we share, though often with sharply contrasting goals.* (See our endnote for more on this.)

So did Powell’s political views influence his judicial decisions? The evidence is mixed. Powell did embrace expansion of corporate privilege and wrote the majority opinion in First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti, a 1978 decision that effectively invented a First Amendment “right” for corporations to influence ballot questions. On social issues, he was a moderate, whose votes often surprised his backers.

Powell memo was beginning of the end for Middle Class. It should be explained further, in context, maybe in own post.

Some people maybe stinkle as they didn't read it, or see Shock doctrine, or righty tighty, or other agenda of division

I am. :D

Your man in the White House isn't doing a very good job representing the 99%. He just keeps putting people on the dole. The best way to help people is to let them earn a living.

On top of this, one has to wonder what the brothers Koch will be doing this month after their post election analysis is completed.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

More of the same.

I'm taking my time going through this.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

It's an incredible amount of information in one place.

Enjoy........................:)

ALEC and Monsanto http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Monsanto

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Yeah, some guy from Missouri hung it on there.

I guess the States get what they want., when ALEC pays them for it.

Another chapter in the story of the living dead? ( Golems - corpoRATions )

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Yep. Too, But, in 2011, Arizona tax payers contributed 1/3 of the revenue that funded the Goldwater Institute unbeknownst to most Arizona residents. Numerous Arizonans paid taxes to fund government services but ended up cumulatively forking over more than $1.3M in attorneys’ fees to aid Goldwater’s agenda, including its fight against clean election law.

Here's a piece to make "art" out of our "global warming is a sham" buddies.

They always seem to disappear about the time real science catches up with their BS.

http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/plugged-in/2013/04/05/these-stairs-arent-climbing-theyre-flat/

Or they'll fall back on their last resort of, "it's all natural".

Do the guys who claim it's a hoax go through this much stuff to prove it's a hoax?

http://phys.org/news/2013-04-antarctic-team-deep-climate-future.html

I don't think so.

I think they just have a meeting with the brothers Koch and collect their check.

Or the guy that "invented" the term "climate change".

It sounded so much more benign than global warming.

For those who forgot, or never knew. A truth based classic.

This is an expanding effort.

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Stop voting for people who take money from their corporations then.

[-] 1 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

Why you always telling people how to vote? campaigning (anti campaigning) is just more partisan activity.

If you focus on the issues and forget the politicians you will get more people to support occupies progressive agenda.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Stop buying anything that has anything to do with Wallstreet.

But then you likely buy Koch brothers stuff rather regularly, don't you.

Good luck with that.

But then you've always blamed the puppets for the actions of their masters.

BTW, this is just more truth you refuse to even accept.

There's a lot of those isn't there?

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

"blamed the puppets for the actions of their masters"

Better to do that than to slobber at their feet looking for guidance.

Stop voting for the people who take money from the people you allegedly, and I use that word VERY loosely, protest against.

Cant have it both ways. Cant say you care about innocent lives overseas and vote for a war monger. Cant say you care about innocent childrens lives here and vote for a fascsist

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Aww, cute more insults.

It's all you have. It's all you've ever had.

STOP buying stuff from the Kochs!!!

You ARE slobbering at their fascist feet!!

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Heres a list of some of their stuff. The only tp I buy is recycled.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You only use toilet paper to fix up those houses you flip???

Such a neat trick.

Here's some more on those puppet masters you love so much.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTwqkl8BqSc

Just a little something more for you to ignore.

Now you can return to your usual insults.

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Youve never seen those houses made of toilet paper? Ryan and KB are making them by the boatloads.

Yes, HomeDepot does carry Georgia Pacific. Just like this computer and yours was prob built by some slum shack. And the internet we are using is run by the very multinational corporations we are protesting. And being monitored by other things we protest.

That doesnt mean when its time to endorse people with a check mark on a box, we go against everything we believe in because "the other guy is Romney/Obama".

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Didn't watch the movie again??

Yes of course.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTwqkl8BqSc

There's another chance.

Ooooops and here's your other friends ALEC.

http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/15136-florida-legislature-pushing-alec-csg-sham-fracking-chemical-disclosure-model-bill

And your friends over at FLAKESnews.

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/04/07/fox-has-absolutely-no-journalistic-ethics-and-heres-a-long-list-of-their-lies-videos/

Oh, and by the way, you still haven't commented on the OP.

typical.

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

It was a comment at the root of this, and thats people like you attacking people and then voting for the very people who are accepting their money.

A comment specific to the op? A, Im not humoring them by watching that, and its not going to tell me anything I dont already know. This is occupy, remember? Corporate takeover sound familiar?

Dont like ALEC? Dont like the Koch Brothers? Stop putting their people in office then.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Nope. You didn't watch or read any of them.

You already think you know everything about everything. But you don't.

Stop buying stuff where any profit goes to Wallstreet.

Good luck with that.

I'm sure you will be using Koch products for your house flipping.

After all you HATE the 99%. You've said so.

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

People like you that say you would take money from Murdoch, and claim to be against the very corporations we are protesting against- and then vote for them- are not doing anything or anyone any good.

Like I said, we are all in the Matrix. Doesnt mean you have to vote for it.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Still trying to change the subject??

Of course you are.

Here's another good one for you to ignore.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ybl9roaHe0

He does pick on Clinton a bit, so you "might" actually watch it, as it fits your agenda.

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

The topic is "mini heritage foundations" and ALEC.

You support people who support ALEC. By actions and inaction, you support the Kochs actually. Which is pretty disgusting. Might want to get that checked out.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

It won't help as you buy their stuff anyway.

You like 'em. They own your State and have for years.

Here's a bit more on your friends at ALEC.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QTiR10f4Pw

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

More excuses on your voting record.

Its not too late to change Shooz. I thought you put a lot of stock in voting?

Check this out, we could use your help in this as well: https://www.facebook.com/FoodandWaterWatch?fref=ts

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

My voting record?????

Yet another subject change, while you ignore and minimize your friends at ALEC.

So my voting record. My biggest mistake was voting for Ron Paul and a few other libe(R)tarians.

Other than that, I vote independent or liberal.

Are you satisfied?

Ignore who's involved in SPN now.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/SPN_Ties_to_ALEC

[-] -1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

You voted for the war monger in chief and his friends. The ones who just shipped more jobs overseas. The ones who are doing unlimited bailouts.

Thats a direct support of the people we are protesting against.

You're not the only occupier who didnt have the self respect in the voting booth, but it deserves some criticism. Especially when you call people who are more active and progressive than you are, Republicans.

Keep claiming Im a Republican, its about the dumbest thing you can do. People just this place based on their own experiences. The only people who may think you are near knowledgeable on anything are the same other ones who also never really helped out.

Have fun backing the war, backing israel regardless of what they do, and backing all the other globalist pigs while claiming to remotely care about the 99%. You are the ass we are talking about.

The blood is on your hands, and its about time you grow up and admit it.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

That was a stretch and insulting too, as well as yet another change of subject, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the OP.

But then that's what you do.

Ignore the reality of what's happening all around you.

I guess that's why Florida has been such a political cesspool for so long.

Ignorance.

Back on topic.

http://www.eclectablog.com/2013/04/lee-fang-exposes-the-state-policy-network-corporate-domination-of-public-policy.html

Now, continue your attack on the puppets, while you ignore and minimize the masters.

[-] 0 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

Why don't you leave his personal, private voting record out of the discussion.

Stick to the topic of the 'State Policy Network'! Or are you trying to deflect, & distract from that issue because you support them?

If you do just say it, no need for personal attacks.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Donors Trust.

A video from DemocracyNow.

http://www.democracynow.org/2013/2/19/donors_trust_little_known_group_helps

A "charity" that gives to the network, and ALEC too.
