Forum Post: Stand by your Guns. Don't walk away. Don't let them chase you away.

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

To ALL of the detractors/attackers of the Occupy & 99% movements.

These movements are young, practically newborn yet.

But they have already made a huge impact. The repugnants blinked with they're blocking of the payroll tax cut extension.

Yes these movements need to get organized, and that is happening as time goes by.

You don't hear people in public office refer to us much as yet to being responsible for any consideration and action they have taken so far to extend the Payroll tax cut or to delay on passing the pipeline approval. But the fact remains that these two issues were heading down a different coarse until we started protesting, and signing/circulating petitions.

The Powers that be are more then a little concerned that they are slowly ( though faster every day ) losing they're automatic sway over the public.

And you can credit that fear of recognizing us, to all of the attacks going on in this forum. Trying to separate us. Trying to break down our growing influence.

Consider that the volume of attacks are not going down but are becoming more strident and numerous. Power showing fear in a tangible way.

Yes! If you haven't seen "Inside Job" drop everything + go watch it tonight. Contact your elected representatives about repealing Gramm-Leach-Bliley. If you haven't watched Byron Dorgan talking about this on youtube, go watch that now too. Its all there.

Good and timely message. I hesitate to express what you undoubtedly already know but we should recognize that over time that people will drift from the movement if they do not perceive meaningful milestones.

Well I think that postponing the pipeline decision is a good sign that our objections are being heard and are starting to receive consideration.

I think it is the same with the two month payroll tax extension.

These movements are new and they are frightening to those in power right now. We will not see much acknowledgement of our presence for some time as they are afraid that to acknowledge us is to advance our cause, which they do not want to do, because it gets in the way of them doing whatever they want in the way they want to. It does not change the fact that they are becoming somewhat more hesitant in following their own agenda, as they consider risking inflaming more public disapproval.

So I would suggest that everyone read between the lines as to ascertaining cause and effect. Give a shout out if you yourself perceive actions and responses that you attribute to be in response to our efforts to affect positive change.

We need more comments. Share your point of view in open public debate. Freedom of speech is one of the Great Treasures that we are fighting to protect. So sound off.

Weigh the the truth do not buy anyone's statement at face value. Check it out before responding. Don't let yourself fall victim to a modern day Pharacy. Check facts or collect facts. Do not follow anyone blindly.

Support open public debate. Lets get the issues thoroughly aired-out. Give the public plenty of food for thought.

This forum has paid agents here , but they are harmless. They can't hold anything you say against you as they can't trace you, without a court order, for a ows server audit. That won't happen without a fight and ows will notify you if it happens. They want you to be afraid, to communicate with others here- don't allow yourself to become paranoid- Try to guess who they are, its great training- buy don't tell them.

It can also be a lot of fun watching them squirm as we move forward.

Next time you protest the Candian Texas Pipeline also remember or consider throwing in a demand for Truly Green Energy implementation/development such as Hydrogen Fuel/Power and Geo-thermal Heating/Cooling/Power.

Lets capitalize on every opportunity to forward positive growth/change.

I mostly gave up on Occupy when I realized that protesters here were not interested in proper debate, and called whomever espoused a different opinion than their own or criticized certain aspects of Occupy trolls or "secret government agents". The problems Occupy stands against are real and very serious issues, but it's sad to see that serious discussion is not being promoted by the movement.

I would be willing to support Occupy again if it accepted auto-criticism and outer criticism with open arms and if OWS protesters started countering arguments against various aspects of Occupy with proper debating tactics. Until then, the movement looks cult-like to me. It espouses an us vs. them type black and white mentally. I don't find this very healthy.

Well that is the funny thing about free speech and airing ones point of view. You then have to risk that others will see things differently and will then rebut your statements, that is open debate and discussion in a free democracy.

Add in the fact that people come from all walks of life and experience and you are going to get quite a variety of responses. That is why you stick to your guns and do the best you can to explain your position. To throw up your hands and walk away in frustrated disgust is not really a viable option.

Nothing could be more healthy than an open sharing of differing points of view.
