Forum Post: SB 1867, Worldwide Indefinite Detention and the Senators Who Betrayed You

FYI -

61 senators have betrayed you this week. They authorized, as an amendment to the Defense Authorization Act, the indefinite suspension of Habeus Corpus (again) and the ability to detain American citizens without charge or trial, anywhere in the world. We are now officially a police state and our country is considered a new part of the “battlefield.”

The worldwide indefinite detention without charge or trial provision is contained within S. 1867, which was passed on the Senate floor Monday. The bill was drafted in secret by Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) and passed in a closed-door committee meeting, without even a single hearing.

This provision is almost identical to what John McCain tried last year with Senate Bill 3081, which I outlined in my article, S. 3081 Enemy Belligerent Interrogation – A Sick Merry-Go-Round

The names of your seditious Senators are as follow:

Ayotte (R-NH) Barrasso (R-WY) Blunt (R-MO) Boozman (R-AR) Brown (R-MA) Burr (R-NC) Casey (D-PA) Chambliss (R-GA) Coats (R-IN) Coburn (R-OK) Cochran (R-MS) Collins (R-ME) Conrad (D-ND) Corker (R-TN) Cornyn (R-TX) Crapo (R-ID) DeMint (R-SC) Enzi (R-WY) Graham (R-SC) Grassley (R-IA) Hagan (D-NC) Hatch (R-UT) Heller (R-NV) Hoeven (R-ND) Hutchison (R-TX) Inhofe (R-OK) Inouye (D-HI) Isakson (R-GA) Johanns (R-NE) Johnson (R-WI) Kohl (D-WI) Kyl (R-AZ) Landrieu (D-LA) Lee (R-UT) Levin (D-MI) Lieberman (ID-CT) Lugar (R-IN) Manchin (D-WV) McCain (R-AZ) McCaskill (D-MO) McConnell (R-KY) Menendez (D-NJ) Moran (R-KS) Nelson (D-NE) Portman (R-OH) Pryor (D-AR) Reed (D-RI) Risch (R-ID) Roberts (R-KS) Rubio (R-FL) Sessions (R-AL) Shaheen (D-NH) Shelby (R-AL) Snowe (R-ME) Stabenow (D-MI) Thune (R-SD) Toomey (R-PA) Vitter (R-LA) Whitehouse (D-RI) Wicker (R-MS)

Ok, whoever posted this is lying to you all!!!! They only have 61 Senators on their list here! There were 93 Yeas and 7 Nays. Why would they be protecting so many Democrats? If they lie about this what else are they lying to YOU about? Senate Bill 1867 has passed, 93-7, so the Constitution has been betrayed and undermined by its most solemnly sworn trustees: the only seven U.S. Senators who even deserve a chance of reelection, EVER, are: Tom Coburn (R-OK); Tom Harkin (D-IA); Mike Lee (R-UT); Merkley (D-OR); Rand Paul (R-KY); Bernard Sanders (I-VT); Ron Wyden (D-OR); 3 Republicans, 3 Democrats, 1 Independent.

You are right!! That was the first site I found, after I heard the bill passed. SORRY - It was a mistake ........... not a lie. I stand corrected.

its not law yet, and obama has threatened to veto. There is a difference between dems and republicans... however blurred the line has become...

Long past time to get to the work.. never mind the protesting...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPR3GlpQQJA

I have been active here since the very beginning, and since the very beginning I have been trying to make some core points. These points clearly have not been digested or fully understood by the mob, and so I'm going to try to make a further attempt here again.

  1. Merely protesting in the streets will not bring change. In fact merely protesting in the streets is in fact a means to the end of avoiding the real work of a revolution, which consists of the evolutionary solutions, answers, problem solving process, and new political alignment we create.
  2. This forum is absolutely disorganized. It won't be read by most people and it won't and can't function as a core organizational system.
  3. Back at the very start of this, I petitioned the admin to add multiple sub forums and a wiki. Multiple sub forums were promised but have never arrived. I think that this tells us that the intention actually of this forum is message control and containment. The entire purpose really of this forum has always been to keep us spinning in disorganization. We are hanging out on a forum that expressly exists to actually keep us confused and disorganized.
  4. The real work of a revolution isn't going to happen on forums, it needs to happen in a much more organized fashion using collaborative software.
  5. The assorted other details about how to collaborate, how to work open source direct democracy, how to focus in on science instead of isms, how to become hyper rational about this, are details which are essential and crucial, without which we can predict the movement to fail.
  6. Technically speaking we are not 99 percent, we are one tenth of one percent attempting to represent the 99 percent. Our core mission must be to communicate to and with the 99 percent, and get them to join us. This forum will not accomplish that and neither will any of the other main websites.
  7. You can follow other people out to other wikis and other websites, where they will try to get you to get involved with what they want and their program, but frankly speaking, there is no other website and no other operation out there which understands the complexities involved with meaningful organization. In short, everyones being led to get involved here there and everywhere else, scattering the movement in directions which ultimately do not gain us critical mass, criticial momentum, or critical systemic lucidity.
  8. I have managed to get a wiki put up and have already put on that wiki evolutionary details which make it more organized than anything else. I can't do this alone. There are 10 or so wikis now out there, most of which were created in response to my pleas for a wiki, and several of which are in domains owned and operated by some corporation, (wikia, etc) And which we can thus assume will simply be closed, shut down, or deleted if they become useful to the movement.
  9. Probably at least half of the invites you have to go participate at some other site are people who are scamming everyone to waste time and energy, distort the movement, co opt it, and etc. When you walk off into a closet ask yourself how you know that the closet isn't created by some fed, or by some republican, or by some democrat, in order to sway things in their direction.
  10. The only meaningful strategic option we have for real change in this country is to create a new third party, and take every political office in this country.
  11. Once that is done, we can have an article 5 convention. If we have an article 5 convention before getting rid of the oligachs, that just opens the genie from the bottle for them to abuse that process with their corruption and evil.

For these reasons, I beg of you to please immediately join me on the wiki. We need to have all of these details and all of these ideas put together in an organized fashion, rather than posted in a long scrawl which will never be read.

your attempt to bring down ows won't work.
we know who pays you. training web page http://tinyurl.com/7rvpv43

[-] 2 points by gawdoftruth (3698) from Santa Barbara, CA 12 years ago

what? my attempt to help OWS get its head out of its ass is entirely based on my being a member of the 99 percent, i ain't paid, your accusation is ludicrous.

he who throws stones first is the one most likely guilty to start. I notice your site has lost of advice, but is an emit site; with no opportunity for others to participate. Kind of obvious who the control freak ego tripper is in that compare and contrast.

Seriously. Like a wiki is a plan to hurt ows? its obvious i am trying to help them. its obvious you are trying to control them and me.

[-] 1 points by billyson (18) 12 years ago

Nothing on that site is written by me. its gene sharp, Gandhi, MLK Mandela- almost everyone that has contributed to the worlds non violent struggle against injustice.

it is- in fact- a training site- to train people in non violent resistance against oppression.

the site is completely read only- even the email address is bogus.
That is to protect its data from, it being destroyed, by someone not wanting people to learn how to resist oppressive governments. notice when you click on the supplied url , it gets translated after it leaves this site- lol

great, sounds like a fine collection of stuff. So why are you attacking me?

Compared to the wiki, your just feeding us old dead memes and offering no change and no help to do work.

Further, the much more pragmatic advice i have on how to have a paradigm shift centered revolution is in many ways far more relevant to the problems at hand than your site is.

http://occupythiswiki.org/wiki/WorkShops_in_SB_on_Sunday

I'm happy to even link to your site in support of it on the wiki, but don;t try to tell me i am creating problems when its people like you linking us to old junk instead of being present with the wiki who are actually far more responsible for everything staying stuck.

i am sorry i misjudged you, thanks for your great support of ows. i see that we are on the same side, the side of justice.

I would guess your name was Michael Burry, without even trying, but I realize that you could not be so intelligent.

The 61 number is the vote on Sen. Mark Udall's amendment to remove the language regarding detainees. It lost 37-61. Two other amendments addressing that section (Rand Paul and Diane Fienstein) also lost. This was where the fate of the bill was sealed. Most pertinent are the number of Democrats who voted with the Republicans on this amendment. The focus should be on them. We will be more effective when we get more sophisticated and not just fly off the handle. Time to really investigate, sort out the folks who are under the influence of the 1% via lobbyist and honor those who are standing up to them. If your Senators are on the list, you might want to look deeply into their records and coming campaigns. If they are Republicans, well, that's another story.

It is funny how this article came out after S.1867 passed the Senate. http://www.businessinsider.com/program-1033-military-equipment-police-2011-12 They are setting everything up for a police state. Everyone in this country needs to wake the heck up and see what is going on.

I don't know when this bill will be in this house, but please call your Congressmen and women and bug the heck out of them over this bill. Those phone lines needs to be flooded everyday with Americans demanding that their Congress men don't vote for it

It is important to note that this bill passed with well over 2/3 the vote in the Senate, now if it passes with 2/3 the vote in The House, they could override a Presidential veto. So this has got me worrying. There are some people who just say, "Oh, President Obama will veto this bill". However, the sad fact is how can he if both branches of Congress has 2/3 the vote. We can't rest until this bill gets shot down in the House.

While I think it horrific that any U.S. politicians would come up with something like this, as long as the tea party continues to threaten them with assassination and insurrection, which is what "Second Amendment remedies" represents to them, we have to understand the politician's concern for their safety.
