I read an article today in the NY Times about this guy who walked into a town council meeting and killed three people. The guy was living on 600 a month SS disability and the town pushed to evict the guy from his house, which was a shack. The problem centered, among other things, the lack of a sewage system, but the town blocked his permit. What is it about our human psyche that we are shocked when people, who have nothing in their possession, nor anything to lose, snap? Are we really shocked that we cannot push around the dispossessed, that they will snap? I would like to know if anyone else read the article, or knows the history of this. It just made my blood boil that no one would reach out to help the guy and that he just snapped.

The CNN story doesn't say much about the shooter until you get half way through.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/06/justice/pennsylvania-town-hall-shooting/index.html

Other articles that popped up on google refer to it as a grudge killing, without giving any details about what motivated the man.

I didn't see anything from the NY Times so I hope he posts a link to it.
