So maybe the neanderthal are still around in our current RW libertarians.

Obviously this article.....

http://news.yahoo.com/neanderthals-doomed-vision-centered-brains-002516901.html

....shows humans (& progressives!) are more interdependent and social.

That explains it.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

most likely and/or residual loy-roy-alists

[-] 2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

LOL. I suppose I was reaching but thought it might be enough to resurrect this interesting thread.

Science on our side.

The missing link from Royalists to Cons is Big$.

Damaged DNA is the reason for conservatism.

Wow. That IS some wacko shit.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

"We're in this together" applies to individuals who actually are in it together be it humans, elephants, lions, wolves, dolphins, or termites. Even Republicans take care of their immediate family and friends. What's outstanding is when we take care of someone who's not in it with us. A stranger in need, an orphaned animal nursed by another mother, even of a totally different species. But then again, it's only truly outstanding for humans who have expressed antagonism towards others.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

When foraging communities such as dwellers of the Kalahari are forced to become sedentary and therefore increase material possessions for maintaining their new alien existence, their social fabric unravels and strife ensues.

Meditation makes Cons lean left

http://www.care2.com/causes/after-meditation-conservatives-lean-left.html

So we just need to impose mandatory meditation for all repubs and we can progress on occupies agenda benefitting the 99%.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

There you go with that imposing mandatory stuff again. But I know you're just kidding...right?

[-] 1 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

I am. But it is an interesting study huh? When at peace they behave more like human beings.

[-] 1 points by repubsRtheprob (1209) 11 years ago

That should be proof enough that the wealthy are destructive to a strong interdependent society.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

No species cares for their own like humans. And i am referring to the extraordinary reality of course.

The specific mentality/ideology is conservative (you're on your own) & progressive (we're in this together). And i assure you I know many republicans who do NOT help friends at all, and family very little.

It's just the way they think.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

No one goes out of their way to kill like humans.

It's a mixed bag.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

The good vastly outweighs the bad or we would not have survived.

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

No, the bad vastly outweighs the good or else we wouldn't have ceaseless wars, crime, and poverty, century after century, country after country. The only thing required for collective survival is self-interest, not goodness. All current social creatures survive, not because of any goodness, but because of collective self-interest that varies per individual.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Doesn't every war have a good side & a bad side? Probably evens out.

But in our day to day lives we couldn't survive a day if the bad vastly outweighed the good.

See what I mean. Criminals are the bad guys and the non criminals vastly outweigh them.

Isn't it obvious?

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

Every war doesn't have a good side. Being non-criminal doesn't make one good. Doing good without doing bad makes one good. People doing good without doing bad are vastly outweighed by non-criminals doing little to nothing good at all.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Yeah I think you have expanded the definition of good & bad beyond what I would agree with and to suit your argument. LOL

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think most people are good.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Right, let's take care of zombie Republicons who think they just want to eat our brains, but really just need our love!! You go first!!

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

The social welfare supporters have beat me to it. Anyone who supports universal health care or universal anything wants to take care of zombie Republicons along with everyone else.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Welfare, what's good for the Corporates is really good for the citizens.

I like McGovern's "Medicare for All" approach.

Con zombies, you can't shoot 'em and... you can't shoot 'em.

Psychopaths are not "in this together" with us. They cannot be reached through empathy, empathy can not be imparted to them. For them there is only what-they-want and the power-calculus of what they can achieve.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

That is why psychopaths make such terrific bankers and politicians. That is also why they need 'us' to adopt their beliefs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychopathy

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Ok. I wouldn't say they are indicative of the human race. In fact they are the rare exception.

So the evidence still stands.

[-] 1 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

1 in 20.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I think even less. And far fewer act on their psychosis

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

They are everywhere huh?

But there are vastly more non psycho's right?

[-] 1 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

1 in 20 would give us around 15 million psychopaths/nonempaths in the U.S. We empaths need to ensure that nonempaths are not in positions of economic or military power.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I ain't empathic but I thought it was 1 in 100.

[-] 2 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 11 years ago

Hmmm. If I were a nonempath I would figure out and make the empathic choice, for both my own good and the greater good. As it is, nonempath greed and selfishness often burns and brings down the house they live in -- see the world economy.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Self destructive greedy cannibals who assume their wealth will insulate them.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

As a species we would not have persisted without cooperation. Many archaeologists and anthropologists are accepting this reality contrary to the interests of those who wish to keep us all opposed to one another.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Best evidence that helping each other is a big reason we have survived & flourished.

"you're on your own" mentality is NOT human nature.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Of course silly.

We all know that, instinctively, regardless of what we are told by those who actually are on their own due to the subversion they have participated in. They have a very good reason to attempt to convince us that we are alone because they would be dealt with fatally by an organized and cohesive population. They are very afraid of us.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I guess the point is for neocon/libertarian 'blame the victim' '47% are takers' crowd.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Excellent example of a means of dividing people into subsets.

Subsets are easier to control than one people. It does seem a last ditch effort to attempt to divide people along boundaries. The real boundary is between the 1% and the 99%. The 1% will never attempt that because they are aware of the repercussions of such a blatant division, though the 99% can do it all day long so long as they pose no threat to the 1%.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Sounds good.

I'd like to share the lyrics of the song The Grudge by Tool. I think it will make some of you take on new perspectives, based on some posts here:

"The Grudge"

Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity. Calculate what we will or will not tolerate. Desperate to control all and everything. Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen.

Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end. Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Terrified of being wrong. Ultimatum prison cell.

Saturn ascends, choose one or ten. Hang on or be humbled again.

Clutch it like a cornerstone. Otherwise it all comes down. Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end. Saturn ascends, comes round again. Saturn ascends, the one, the ten. Ignorant to the damage done.

Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity. Calculate what we will or will not tolerate. Desperate to control all and everything. Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen.

Wear your grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper.

Defining, confining, controlling, and we're sinking deeper.

Saturn comes back around to show you everything Let's you choose what you will not see and then Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again Spits you out like a child, light and innocent.

Saturn comes back around. Lifts you up like a child or Drags you down like a stone To consume you till you choose to let this go.

Give away the stone. Let the oceans take and Transmutate this cold and fated anchor. Give away the stone. Let the waters kiss and Transmutate these leaden grudges into gold. Let go.

Check the song out on Grooveshark or wherever you get your free music. It's one of my favorites, and not just for the lyrics.

And then there's this one... I never wanted harm to come to anyone, though I've fantasized of tragedy befalling oppressors. I've loved this song and it made me wish for total disaster to come already. Then I decided there is no real reason to even exist so pointlessly except to do something significant. But still love the song. Tool is enlightened and rather amazing. Sorry for being off topic.

"Ænema"

Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see Armageddon soon. I certainly hope we will. I sure could use a vacation from this

Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA The only way to fix it is to flush it all away. Any fucking time. Any fucking day. Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona Bay.

Fret for your figure and Fret for your latte and Fret for your lawsuit and Fret for your hairpiece and Fret for your Prozac and Fret for your pilot and Fret for your contract and Fret for your car.

It's a bullshit three ring circus sideshow of freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA The only way to fix it is to flush it all away. Any fucking time. Any fucking day. Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona Bay.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky. Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves. Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still. Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits.

Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see Armageddon soon. I certainly hope we will cause I sure could use a vacation from this

Stupid shit, silly shit, stupid shit...

One great big festering neon distraction, I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim. [x2]

Mom's gonna fix it all soon. Mom's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Learn to swim.

Fuck L Ron Hubbard and Fuck all his clones. Fuck all these gun-toting Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

Fuck retro anything. Fuck your tattoos. Fuck all you junkies and Fuck your short memory.

Learn to swim.

Fuck smiley glad-hands With hidden agendas. Fuck these dysfunctional, Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Cause I'm praying for rain and [or mayhem?] I'm praying for tidal waves I wanna see the ground give way. I wanna watch it all go down. Mom, please flush it all away. I wanna see it go right in and down. I wanna watch it go right in. Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again. Don't just call me pessimist. Try and read between the lines.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it all come down. Suck it down. Flush it down.

Just one more, equally applicable as the others:

"Vicarious"

Eye on the TV 'cause tragedy thrills me Whatever flavour It happens to be like; Killed by the husband Drowned by the ocean Shot by his own son She used the poison in his tea And kissed him goodbye That's my kind of story It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like I am a monster Frown out your one face But with the other Stare like a junkie Into the TV Stare like a zombie While the mother Holds her child Watches him die Hands to the sky crying Why, oh why? 'cause I need to watch things die From a distance

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it? Why can't we just admit it?

We won't give pause until the blood is flowing Neither the brave nor bold The writers of stories sold We won't give pause until the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die From a good safe distance

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies You all feel the same so Why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain come down Drawn on grave and ground

Part vampire Part warrior Carnivore and voyeur Stare at the transmittal Sing to the death rattle

La, la, la, la, la, la, la-lie

Credulous at best, your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men. Pull your head on out your hippy haze and give a listen. Shouldn't have to say it all again. The universe is hostile. so Impersonal. devour to survive. So it is. So it's always been.

We all feed on tragedy It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies Much better you than I
