This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Last night while I as ranting about the NDAA I used a statement out of WIKI...."Section 1031 as allowing for the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens without a trial or hearing, and Section 1032 requires that detentions authorized by Section 1031 be by the armed forces in the case of non-citizens."

That was taken from the following link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Authorization_Act

This morning the entire page has been watered down..and it states the date and time...last night...

This page was last modified on 20 December 2011 at 02:14.

My original post is

Now watch all the fuck'in idiots on here jump on and say ...wiki is always making changes....

How fuck'in stupid are you people??? You assholes are attending to shit like

I choose to be a common man. News Article: The hate of men will pass, and dictators die... (Inspiring words from Charlie Chaplin)

News Article: Take Back The Commons! #D17

Was Zucotti Park Unsafe? yet another data point of the 1% doing oh sooo wellll - 22 year old buys an NYC appartment for 88 million bucks

Unions are socialist

"So Dad, what is Electricity?" "It's energy son, we use it to make light, and machines."I said. "And computers?" He asked. And for a moment I paused and mused, and thought about occupy, and the forums, I thought about typing this title....

Just saw post that said "We all should make $135,000"

Explain why a flat tax isn't fair

Don't you get it??? Even OWS is being distracted.

I agree, some of the posts on this forum are stupid.

The only real solution is to eliminate money but that will never happen until Babylon falls, hence the need for NDAA -- the Plutocrats know life as we're living it is unsustainable.

Finally! someone who can actually think outside the box...at least I don't feel so alone...thanks

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Exactly. "They" know what is coming down the pipes. there is no money, there isnt any in the banks, the funds and especially the people's homes (1% savings rates).

Dominoes move quickly once they start falling. There is no backup cash to save it, because the back up cash isnt made of anything.

Follow the money.

I proposed this to this site 3 months ago and they told me to get my head out of the clouds.... I wish we could get chuck norris on our side. He could be of great help... Do you know how many people would listen to chuck???

We need to reset the system right now. Industry will never again sustain people's need for a proper amount of money to pay for housing for everyone. Housing is the most manipulated market in the whole entire world and is also a clever means of providing more employment, exploiting the labor of poor people. If you want one goal that would be paramount above all others, it would be the reevaluation of housing prices and rent. 'Nuph said.

I don't think name-calling helps.

This Forum is NOT stupid. It is a minefield for those unwilling to parse the opinions and postings hereon. Many seek to misdirect and many seek to have questions answered. Our Civic duty as citizens of an active (dying?) democracy is to question everything and to weigh perceived versus assumed truths/ untruths and thus formulate a viable opinion. Nobody said it'd be easy, but this place is definately NOT stupid. Stupid is assuming that because a few monkeys throw rotten fruit, the entire forest must have rotten fruit trees therein.

[-] 2 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

I don't think trying to figure out the future direction of the movement is a distraction. No single piece of legislation, no matter how draconian is really decisive in terms of the power and control of the 1%.

[-] 2 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

You really don't get the picture...the NDAA makes everything EVERYTHING else pointless. You can't conceive of living under dictatorship because you have been trained all your life to think in quasi intellectual terms which go around and around..that is the purpose of TV and Politics. I know you really believe what you just said..but this really is not an intellectual pursuit right now.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

As I understand it and from commentaries I have heard from OWS activists what NDAA does is essentially formalize practices that are already in place and which have been used for some time, Our system is in crisis in too many ways to count, We get it. But I don't see becoming hysterical about this or that piece of legislation, or this or that event, or some other singular happening being at all helpful, All kinds of stuff like this will happen and continue to happen, Our job is the rather prosaic work of organizing, It may be too little and it may be too late, but we have no alternative,

[-] 2 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

We do have an alternative. But you can't do it from a computer ...surround the capital building...1 million people.

Take the time to view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dys9djaxkDw&feature=youtu.be

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

This is a pipe dream. At most OWS has been able to mobilize perhaps 100,000 people around the nation and not all in one place or even at the same time, It is perhaps conceivable that OWS could bring perhaps 100,000 people or more to DC for a single day, but only a tiny fraction of those people would be willing to engage in civil disobedience, I am a loyal OWS activist, I was at Zuccotti on day one, but we need to be realistic about what our resources are and how much genuine support we have right now, Sure, nearly 30% of the population when polled say they support us, but only a tiny fraction of them would actually be willing to come to a demo, much less occupy or engage in civil disobedience,

By no means do I mean to throw a wet blanket on things, I fully support OWS, I hope it grows at least 1000 times larger and I am doing everything I know how to do to help it grow, but in the mean time I think we have to be brutally honest with each other about how tiny OWS is, especially in comparison to the tasks before us,

[-] 2 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

Yea...if the founding fathers listen the moans of the naysayers we would still be under British rule.... It takes something many do not have. Intestinal fortitude...if there is a will there is a way.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

I am not a moaner and I am not a nay sayer, and I am not a provocateur, I have been active in OWS since day one and I consider myself a loyal OWS activist, but I do not believe that OWS as a movement is above internal criticism, And all I was doing is pointing out concretely exactly how strong OWS is at this moment in time, It is true that people have responded to OWS calls again and again but that response has typically been much much less than OWS called for. For example, on day one I don't think there were more than a few hundred people there generously and certainly far less than 100 over night, though the narrow streets of lower Manhattan make all crowds look considerably larger than they actually are, They would be swallowed up on the wide boulevards of the District of Columbia, I wish the activist base of OWS were larger than it is, and I am doing everything that I know how to do to encourage people to join, but it is what it is and we do no service to the movement by claiming it is something other than what it is,

I was involved in the Million Worker March which turned out to be a total embarrassment and for which the plug should have been pulled once it was clear that few would show up, Barely 3,00 people showed up, Instead of a show of strength it was a show of weakness,

Of course, anybody can put out a call for anything and so far OWS has been extremely lucky, Nearly all of the actions it has called have been at least qualified successes even if none of them as yet have drawn the level of support that OWS has called for, This sort of thing can backfire very easily, and strategic thought is imperative, The Continental Army fought, but it did not attack the British on every occasion, especially when it was greatly outnumbered,

I've been skeptical of a number of OWS actions before, sometimes I have been wrong and there is no arguing with success,

I think for example, that however successful the so called Oakland general strike was it is a misnomer to call it a general strike. Perhaps tens of thousands of people demonstrated certainly thousands, and they did shut down the port but they did not do what general strikes typically do and what they are known for, They did not bring all commerce to a halt and set up an alternative system of governance for the duration of the partial strike, I am not blaming them for this It turned out to be a rather spectacular even, but what it was not was what general strikes are typically understood to be,

Most recently, so far the failure to re-occupy a public space in NYC last Saturday was the first serious set back I have seen in OWS so far, much more serious than any of the evictions from which OWS bounced back rather quickly, But for the first time I heard real signs of pessimism and burn out from highly committed occupiers who had been occupying virtually 24/7 since day one, I do not think OWS will die or go away, It is after all an international movement addressing crises that are themselves systemic and unlikely to disappear, But if we are to sustain ourselves and grow as a movement we have to be able to look honestly at where we are, We have to call a spade a spade and a set back a setback, If OWS could not bring 20 thousand people to Wall Street on 9/17 I think it unlikely in the extreme that it will be able to bring a million people to Washington any time soon, I wish it could. I hope it can, but I seriously doubt that it will, That, I think, is not an expression of pessimism, I am extremely optimistic about OWSs future, I think it is an honest assessment of where we are here and now as I see it,

you can see who makes the changes, and when and what justification they made, this is all moderated... http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=National_Defense_Authorization_Act&action=history

[-] 1 points by bill1102inf2 (357) 12 years ago

It authorizes indef detention, crushing the 5th amendment as well as others. THIS is how liberty dies, and most people do not seem to care

[-] 2 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

it is making me fuck'in nuts...last night while I am trying to get everyone to wake up...Wiki does an end run and wipes out their page on NDAA...how the fuck do you get people to pay attention? I can't believe these idiots are discussing politics and history and all the other bull shit posts on here..this is bad and these people are asleep..not a fuck'in thing I can do.

[-] 2 points by bill1102inf2 (357) 12 years ago

As long as the NFL is on and Lady Gaga's tour is on schedule the people seem to bit notice or care what else is going on, a real damn shame

[-] 1 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

I honestly don't know what else to do...I am thinking it is time for me to go underground...a bit tough at my age. This shit is going down and I have no effect on waking anyone up....I hope to God there is a country left by summer....

[-] 0 points by NewEnglandPatriot (916) from Dartmouth, MA 12 years ago

When one tries to wake others, force is usually applied. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction and all is relative. They will wake up soon enough, by then it will may too late. The first castle has fallen. Some will be the 100th monkeys. We know to wash the potatoes..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundredth_monkey_effect

When the EAS National alert is sounded they will be paralyzed. I will be with my family. Many know what is going on deep inside. Some cope with alcohol, drugs. Others cope by excessive eating.. Others suffer the Stockholm Syndrome. They love their leaders and support, despite their intent. The rest use the prescribed distractions such as NFL/lady Gaga. All tools of the master darkness. Some will wake up at last minute. I hope more awaken, the awareness alone is enough to balance the scale once again....They will realize the pied piper has been leading astray..

No leader here. Not allowed. Losers.

[-] 1 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

I agree..none here..but there are some young people that are standing up. Please listen to this young vet. he has much to say...If we had more like him we could take our country back.

Young Vet..leader material...A leader rises up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dys9djaxkDw&feature=youtu.be

There aren't enough free thinkers. Sorry. This forum is a melting pot of shit and crap. Also feces. Good luck.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

It's sheep, like yourself that need a leader to follow.

I would suggest the anti-Christ Glenn Beck for your enjoyment.

[-] 1 points by Spankysmojo (849) 12 years ago

Glen Beck is a Christian? I doubt it. I need no leader. Just pointing out that this movement is a colonic movement. Sorry to disappoint you. I actually don't need you either. Fuck off.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You could use something that passes for a thought process though.

Just another detractor, hung up on an anal fixation.

I wonder why that is?

[-] 1 points by Spankysmojo (849) 12 years ago

Thought process? Did your 4 year old nephew tell you how to spell that? Would you like me to talk about your vagina instead? Fuck off, I said.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

My nephew runs a restaurant in Chicago.

Do all of you anally fixated folks run your life on assumptions?

I'm thinking you've never actually seen a vagina.

Instead of wasting time here, you should attempt to actually get laid.

Fuck off yourself, misfit.

[-] 1 points by Spankysmojo (849) 12 years ago

your nephew is the vagina i saw. you are the hair in his smelly twat. ive had more vagina than you have oxygen, deficit.

[-] 0 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

Wait - you've lost me. What are you saying? What is it based on? WTF?

Are you whining because the Wiki page changed? Is that the sum of what's up here?

Are you sure that in the final bill you are referencing the right sections? I think the numbers changed. 1031 and 1032 were from the Senate version. The House version I'm sure contains the same language, maybe five or ten digits earlier.

So - that's probably why the wiki is changing. Not sure.

Why? are ya nervous?

cuz I'm not.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

How stupid are you to rely on Wiki as a source of factual information? A sportswriter I know used to think that until I sat him down and showed him how easy it is to change things on wiki.

[-] 0 points by Idaltu (662) 12 years ago

Another fuck'in idiot with dog shit for brains...it is a legitimate statement from wiki...the work was done you idiot. Because of people like you we will lose our constitution and bill of rights..

[-] 1 points by badconduct (550) 12 years ago

Wiki is a terrible source of information. I often fact-check wikipedia just to find out that the sourced links do not work.

Wikipedia should never be cited as a source, it should only be used as a phase one research tool.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

A legitimate statement that may or may not be true.Wiki is a horrible source to rely on because ANYONE can change things. You just show how stupid you are by citing it.
