Forum Post: OWS is like yesterdays neocons

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

people who are blindly supporting OWS do not seem to have the inclination (or capability) of reasoning out their demands.. kind of like the neocons of yesterday.

they spout one line ideas that they cannot back up with a logical response.. kind of like the neocons who catch soundbites from fox news and use them as gospel and their ideology but fall flat on their faces when someone informed bait them into a discussion.

if you want to support a cause, LEARN about it so you can argue about the causes/effects/solutions intelligibly.

People who blindly support OWS tend to have a very clear idea of what their demands are. They simply can't agree on a common set of demands or get OWS to agree on them.

People who are consciously active in OWS and who are active in it without blinders are generally perfectly capable of reasoning out demands, they simply have no interest in raising any because they do not accept the legitimacy of any institution upon which demands would normally be made. My favorite demand is: I demand that you stop asking what our demands are.

I have one demand and it's demanded of ourselves, OWS, not the government or the corporations. We should all be demanding it.

NGA NOW

I looked NGA up in the wiki dictionary and it said National Geographical Association

Some of us are trying to make history, not just trying to look it up.

I'm 68 years old. I've been involved in every major social movement in the United States since 1964. I'm currently a part time activist in OWS, part time only because of work and health issues and I still don't know what NGA means.

It just occurred to me that NGA may stand for National General Assembly, a profoundly antidemocratic notion in its present for that will never even be considered by the NYC GA. I've been to 4 other GAs, some of which might consider it, but nowhere that I am aware of would the proposal actually get a consensus in a GA, and a good thing too given its antidemocratic character.

I am most certainly not opposed to a national GA in principle or in theory. , it is just that the current proposal for a national GA is not only antidemocratic on its face but there are in fact no serious mechanisms in place to change it and make it more democratic. Right now it's a good way to hoodwink the innocent, but fortunately a substantial number of the innocent are not all that naive or easily hoodwinked.

Depends on who you talk to. If you go looking for the guy who's kicking in windows or is stumbling around high off his ass or is too busy meditating to form coherent sentences when you ask him things, then guess what? You're gonna find him, and when you try to talk to him you'll get a load of drivel. I back OWS completely, and like the vast majority of the people who do I have my own reasons for doing so that I would be quite happy to debate with you and/or elucidate for you.

apples and oranges. organisation will take time and will not wear the OWS brand when it matures. OWS is the spark to a raging inferno of thought and ideas. like any fire of considerable size, it will transform the landscape and leave behind the things needed for growth to once again flourish.

The title of this is really the most fatuous thing here yet. I think everybody who uses this site has to protest to the NGA about the content here. There are three trolls, bots, psych-ops guys here for every one OWS supporter. We gotta stop this guys!

I demand that the NYCGA publicly endorse the 99% Declaration.

the neo cons were liberals trying to infiltrate the right. But like most liberal groups, they ended up tripping over their own shoe laces.

Its just a smokescreen to Occupy peoples minds while Fast and Furious and the destruction of the constitution (Military detention) pass us by without a whimper. Our Congress is passing very dirty things while everybody watches OWS.

I don't think you have been paying attention.

You seem to want to just live in your own little reality

If you want to counter a cause, use some facts and arguments

Lame name calling and irrelevant comparison only serve to highlight your ignorance of the subject

Seriously, you use this childish variation of my name and you think you can tell anyone they are incorrect about anything lol. you are one silly bitch.

The reality is that OWS is the Neocon - the liberal branch of Conservatism; the true "Liberal" does not exist.
