This country will change when we change first. We must have a spiritual awakening. The conformists will belly ache but it is true. Atheism and political correctness are not good things and are killing the movement. I am not saying accept a particular dogma as absolute truth that is just dumb they have all been twisted, distorted, and manipulated by man for his own ends for centuries, however I am saying going through existence with out acknowledging the spiritual non material aspect of the universe is 90% of what got us in this mess. To all atheists physicalism is dead the science is streaming in confirming this. Now I am not talking about accepting fundamental static dogma that is just dumb for to many reasons the least of all being the initial practitioners of any belief system are non static. Most people don't even know what esoteric mystical texts, techniques, and practices are. Most people don't have any clue what it is to seek truth but we better start, I personally find it astounding that in america a predominately christian country most people have no idea of the gospel of thomas or mary. Now that is called exerting power. I will not tell you what to believe. Simply realize all formal religion is just an attempt to understand and conceptualize God and the universe using the tools, techniques, language, and the understanding of the physical and non-physical world at the time, that these practices and texts have been manipulated and distorted for mans own ends but that does not mean that all wisdom has been destroyed however is does mean that you half to separate the the manipulated from the truthful. However to right off spirituality as mumbo jumbo and corrupt is to right off the knowledge of antiquity and of the divine. good luck! we must make this change to a holistic way of thinking and living or we are doomed. http://www.realitysandwich.com/video/occupy2012

The problem with atheism, or the lack of any recognition of a spiritual dimension to mankind, is that it eventually leads us to where we are - a place where "everything is legal" to quote Dostoyevsky - back to simply 'survival of the fittest," which some people then try to codify into a reasonable philosophy. The best evidence of a higher power is that we need a higher power to remain sane and civilized. Without it we degenerate into something far worse than the animals.

I don't believe, however, that that is a fair charactorization of OWS.

Interesting how we see yet another dualistic ideal: the Spiritualist versus the Scientific Puritan. Both have valid points, yet for some, it is a versus, and not an "and."

I do not rule out, and indeed, personally support the existence of varied psionic phenomena, as well as paranormal phenomena. But, to sway too heavily to one side of the viewpoint is unhealthy. I suppose it comes from the preconception that "People aren't going to believe me, so I must attack them and prove my point, and my enemies are.... THE ATHIESTS!!! They don't believe me because they don't have the evidence that I do, so I must override them to tell them the raw experiences I have observed, even if it doesn't make sense to them." Siighh...

Yes, burningman2012, we are responsible for, and in response to, global warming, et al. May your god be with you, for you need to be led and not to be a leader.

I agree with learning from history, but I'll offer history as the proof that we do not. How's that for a dichotomy? We have many storybooks that profess to teach us all that we need, but they all seem to believe in tithing and singular focus.

Change is needed. Occupy is only the vehicle of that change.

An holistic, compassionate leadership is currently lacking and unlikely without changing the position and direction of government.

Hence the "hot air"... if you don't really understand.

still praying at the algore/ man-made global warming altar?

[-] 1 points by OccupyTheForestGuy (35) 12 years ago

I am insulted by your simplistic view. I had higher expectations for "thinking" humans. I've already stated that prayer should not be needed for running this planet. Didn't you read the words?

No, I'm not American. I don't have to listen to politicians debate such well-funded reasons for why the world is as it is. But, the historic number of farting buffalo will never have the impact humans are having.

Read...learn. Look beyond the crap fed to us by the media. You'll be a better person for it.

You're the one mired in media crap.

[-] 1 points by OccupyTheForestGuy (35) 12 years ago

Evidently, I was right with my first impression, capella. I won't waste my time trying to educate you. Get your sorry butt back under the bridge!

go back to worshiping gaea.

[-] 1 points by OccupyTheForestGuy (35) 12 years ago

Uh, it seems to me that if you'd actually read anything, you'd have understood that I'm against worshiping anything.

In Canada, we call your type a con-bot. That may be a bit too high a mark for you though. You should get that loose nut on your keyboard fixed.

i need no one to lead me my friend. while you wait for this leader will you watch rome burn?

[-] 1 points by OccupyTheForestGuy (35) 12 years ago

Relying on any religion, or religious tenets, for morality indicates placing said religion as the leader. Why rely on religions, which are only as flawed as the number of people responsible for their institution? Your argument dictates that a religion is required to take an holistic view of the world. I disagree. We don't need any religion to care for our world, or each other. Limiting oneself to such doctrine denies humanity of so much...

Rome burned a long time ago. Religion has had eons to correct the issues of Rome and yet here we are. It is time to truly remove religion from state and get on with evolution.

[-] 0 points by blackbloc (-19) 12 years ago

not religion. spirituality. otherwise there will be no evolution.

[-] 1 points by OccupyTheForestGuy (35) 12 years ago

Define the difference, please.
