Forum Post: OWS has become so disappointing...

Posted 12 years ago on Dec. 19, 2011, 11:21 a.m. EST by occupyajobplz (-4) from North Arlington, NJ
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

I started out in New York, and camped for weeks trying to make change. That was the movement, the pure essence of it.

I went to a more recent OWS camp in my hometown, and it's pathetic. It's become a mixture of 9/11 truthers, anti zionists and conspiracy theorists. I talk to some of my friends in new york, and they tell me it's the same thing down there.

the whole movement should be scrapped and started over, because what's left is just a shell of what it once used to be and is actually starting to become embarassing.

Isn't this person's username basically telling people to "get a job"?
Interesting attitude for someone claiming to support the 99%.
Something tells me this post and others like it may not entirely be on the up-and-up.

"occupyajobplz" was NEVER part of the Movement. He is a T R O L L !!!

Click on his username and you will find he joined on December 14... just 5 days ago!!! What a H Y P O C R I T E !

the whole point has been to show disallusionment with the movement. but yo uwouldn't understand that.

You're not fooling us, "occupyajobplz". We can see that your answer to someone about an hour ago simply calling on 99%ers to use their voting power was, "fuck you spic". You were the first and only comment replying to his post so far, as well.

Another one of your classy first comments was to someone who obviously put at least several days effort into producing a rap song about OWS in hopes of contributing it here, and all you had to write was "you're a fag dude".

In fact, telling people to "get a job" with your username, as if the Occupy Wall Street protesters were lazy, is nothing compared to those other hate-filled comments of yours.

You think any of us buy your story about camping out trying to make positive change? Now tell us again why you joined the movement, and tell us without saying anything negative. You can't? Yea, that's what I thought.

I go to Working Groups in NYC on a weekly basis and while there is an increased number of cranks and kooks, especially at demos, they are not particularly evident in the Working Groups, many of which appear to be thriving, though the absence of an open occupied public space is clearly a set back. I suspect in some smaller occupations the tendency to be overwhelmed by kooks and nuts is stronger, but in my experience that is not universally the case,

I agree, I'm just about out of here myself for the exact same reasons. I do especially like to point out the cancer of anarchists/Koch Libertarians. They seem to have exploded in number. Many seem to be young white males who have never voted before.

I agree. They have managed to make this place completely insane.

But, remember the lobbying group that said that they could shut it down in 2 months? Are you going to give them that satisfaction?

BlueRose - good morning.

I can relate to what you post in that, I expect if your would just pull the plug or remove their battery, you would easily see what their life was really all about. I am sure you have seen the Christmas blow up displays on many lawns this year kept up by small fans - same principle.

Nice play the race card ya ignorant fuck

[-] 2 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Can you explain to me why inexperienced white males identify as anarchists in great numbers, or can you refute my claim? If not, you contribute nothing.

I agree with Blue Rose, I find it extremely offensive that you would use that term. don't be a racist bigot.

I looked for your motive for writing this? conclusion- you never camped for ows- you never did any demonstrating. you are trying to bring down, this great world movement , for human freedom. i have put together a web site- so people can learn, how to fight against oppression http://tinyurl.com/7rvpv43 .

It doesn't matter. You can scrap it and the same folks will come running right back to the next movement. The fringers will always come , looking to co-opt anything they can .

Governement have tamed the Occupy Movement, that's what peacfull protest does, it just dies of a slow death. I don't understand why you want to exclude people from that movement: 9/11 Truthers: They want transperancy of the governement something that is good. Anti Zionist: The action of Wall Street are to profit Zionist, a lot of money is transfered from the US government to Israel and this is due from Lobbying by the zionist. Conspiracy Theorist: Every reality as first been talked about as a theory, yes some of it is total BS, but some of it is true. Your government created a lot of false flag through the centuries and they admitted it. So you claim to be part of the 99% but now you want to discriminate and partition the 99%. Divide to reign, never forget that, governement will do everything he can to divide the OWS.

This only shows that we all want our MOMENT in time, our place for the moment.

This is what life is becoming for so many of the people that have relied upon someone else for their existence and meaning in life. It really doesn't make any difference whether it is their parents, welfare, free handouts, society at large, or the government. They simply flock to the resources them can suck dry. Basically, OWS has been sucked dry by these very people, they will leave as soon as the MOMENT is over - they will only return when the MOMENT appears again. They do not so much run back to the movement as they run to the MOMENT. It is the only opportunity that they can see in their lives, and it is for the MOMENT. PTBarnham was great at creating the MOMENT, everyone came, actually paid money for that MOMENT, then he packed up and moved on to the next place where he recreated the same thing. The only difference is this - the people that he served saw this as an additional to what they already had (their home, jobs, churches, neighbors, etc) they did not see it as their life, their MOMENT.

In my opinion, anyone who took part in the OWS movement, who does, in effect, not now have a life to return to, was merely sucking the entire movement dry, in order to win their MOMENT. Think about it.
