Dear 1%:

Your only hope is to recuse yourselves from control of the national political and economic system. You will need to plead for foregivness from the masses of folks upon whom you have imposed hurt, damage, degration, and dismissal of their hopes. Your burden is heavy. You and your predecessors over the past one to three or so hundred years have financed and enviggled governments to fight hideous wars. You have installed dictators and supported them, knowing of their will to murder their fellow humans and impose great deprivation upon them. Worse, you have used the media to divert the folks' attention from their woes created and imposed by you – a gigantic wasteland of radio, television, movies and national diversions. You have intentionally “dumbed down” the average citizens by refusing to support high quality education among all residents of the nation. You threaten further deprivations of shelter, food, jobs, education and health care.

You have contributed your wealth to your personal pleasures while homeless folks suffer wretched conditions of existence. You have excellent food, shelter and medical care while great numbers of us sleep in poor and inadquate shelters – or no shelter at all – and suffer from our disabilities. You have used your exteme wealth to buy our elected represenatives while at the same time hoovering great wealth from the masses. You have annointed the winners in the political and economic games you play, and dismissed those chosen by you to lose, with impunity. You throw good, competent and loyal workers from local jobs and move your factories to slave labor nations ruled by your former “communist” enemies. Your hippocracy is evermore transparent.

You pretend to be terribly concerned about the Federal debt, yet your coporate enterprises have been the chief beneficeries of the transfer of wealth thereby exploding the public debt. Your banks first throw fake money at the DOTCOM sectors and the real estate sectors, driving huge economic bubbles. Then you unload the risks on late entrants who try to “score” the same as you have done. They get caught as the Money Masters pull the triggers for the ensuring depressions. The banksters then gobble up equities of vast numbers of Americans who were led by you to believe in the American Dream. You turned those dreams into nightmares.

You have much to answer for. It is better that you admit the failures of your attempts to rule the nation by the creation and operation of the Corporate State of America. Your actions will be carefully monitored by us, the 99%. If your actions are found wanting, you will surely pay a greater price. We will change how our nation is governed. We will change how our life's hopes are spun. We will change how to claim the value and benefits of our labors, to the exclusion of your corporate enterprises. Your perks and privileges, extracted by bribery of the cowards you have caused to be elected to public office, will dissolve into nothing. Act now! Delay and resistance will most certainly embolden the 99%.

As a little boy I would often leave my toys out in the yard unattended, and sure enough some other kids would cary them off. My parents did not pursue the other kids for their opportunistic acquisitions, but rather appropriately chastised me for my carelessness. Perhaps, rather than petition or threaten the 1%, we could publish in the open press letters to the 99% with some helpful ideas on how they could better protect their opportunities and assets. These FORUM posts are full of such ideas. Similar open letters were once fairly common and appeared as paid advertising. The 99% respond well to advertising. Why not use this powerful tool to their advantage?

Good ideas are great but pass in the wind unless anchored to a movement, campaign or an entity which can act on them. We need a New Party in opposition to the Republicratic Party.

Jim Miller is no doubt correct that without the cooperation of many people, a good idea will dissipate in the wind. Many years ago, Mao Tse Tung told a story about an old farmer who wanted to move a mountain out of his path by digging away at it with his one shovel. Passersby laughed at the old farmer for the mountain was immense and his shovel small. But the farmer indicated that the mountain had to go, and as more and more people realized this, they lent a hand and eventually the mountain was cleared from the path. The Chinese Communist party lent a hand and the mountains of tradition, corruption, and greed were shoveled away. Great story, but the mountains are back once again, evident to all who visit China today. Human nature cannot be shoveled away. Sorry, I just had to put that in. So Jim. what kind of party do you suggest? And what can be done to keep it honest?

zymergy,

As to the honesty issue, there is no one complete answer. Here are some touch points:

  1. Extreme transparency
  2. Plenty of open debate
  3. As flat an organization as possible
  4. Chapters in every state and territory and sub-chapters at the county level
  5. Relentless pounding of the Republicratic Party
  6. One member, one vote and plenty of plebicites on major issues
  7. Monthly General Assemblies conducted as virtual cafes.
  8. Support financially the New Party as much as possible
  9. Pay living wages to the full-time workers
  10. Pay fair wages to the part-time workers
  11. Shower the volunteers with gifts and appreciation
  12. Find honest folks
  13. Create the New Party along the lines of a worker cooperative, such as the Rainbow Grocery and the Cheese Board.
  14. Create a shadow government and "enroll" shadow volunteer Federal workers, such as the Brits do.
  15. Be ever vigilant and react swiftly to discover and eject moles planted by the Republicratic Party.

I'll think of some more. What can you add?

zymergy,

We need a NEW PARTY ("new party" is a name holder) so that we can support fusion candidates. I have an extensive outline of the profile of the New Party, which at this time, is unpublished. We need a steering committee of 21 or 33 folks, one-third from academia, one-third from the labor movement and one-third from the Occupy Movement. See a brief overview at: http://thedragonsteeth.wetpaint.com/page/THE+NEW+PARTY

We need to support progressive candidates such as Rocky Anderson. See: http://thedragonsteeth.wetpaint.com/page/OPEN+LETTER+TO+ROCKY+ANDERSON%2C+JUSTICE+PARTY

We need to start chipping away at the anti-fusion legislation. See: http://thedragonsteeth.wetpaint.com/page/HIGHLIGHTS+-+THE+TYRANNY+OF+THE+TWO+PARTY+SYSTEM

The Corporate State of America has assembled an army of "Poop-a-gandists" who troll the Activists sites, leaving their fecal trail. Question: Are these folks being paid? The Moderators should smack these comments as soon as they are posted and ban those posters who contribute nothing but attempted discord.

Just one extra word appended to the end off this 'letter' would set it right. The word is 'Idiot', 'The Ninety-Nine Percent IDIOT'
