If you will respond to one, more GOP in office, how does that help?

How does more GOP in office help any one of the four points you are concerned about?

How specifically do you feel the GOP are better at addressing these four issues?

[-] 1 points by flip (7101) 23 hours ago

they are not and that is the point you dimwit! the FACT is that when the gop is in power there is more protest about these issues since too many inn this country and around the world think like you - dimwit (i am being repetitive - shouldn't do that right). so there is more agitation and we might end up with an election where we have a real candidate for change - oh don't i remember a candidate like that??

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (6481) from Phoenix, AZ 11 minutes ago

so you support the GOP because it might cause something to change? you are OK with the certain evil that is the GOP while you hope for someday, exactly what I have been saying about you. There's a FACT

and dimwit I have said from the beginning you support the GOP because you hope it will bring about your Green Party which you care far more about than the country in this comment you simply confirm all I have been saying.

As long as there are so many like flip in the op there will always be those 1% in office to start the wars the only chance we have to stop allowing these footmen of the 1% to win. However they have just secured a huge win and the nation is more in control of the 1% than it has been since OWS begun, indeed since the inception of OWS it has done little else than to help the GOP secure more power.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

What's the "op?" Observation Post?

If OWS was a RW venture....

How many times has your computer been infected??

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

op is "original post" that's "forum speak" I have been doing this a few years now, just here mind you it's my relaxation for the early morning,

people live, they make decisions those decisions have consequences intended and otherwise.....2014 had the lowest participation in many decades many associated with OWS here and elsewhere often speak of the futility of voting one can reasonably conclude a connection, lower voter turnout helps the GOP to win that is one reason they work to make voting harder, therefor regardless of intent the effect of OWS has been to elect many GOP

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

Oh, yes, how could I forget forum speak's op? Probably because I've never heard it defined. Apparently it has nothing to do with the original author of the post/thread we're on, here, you. It's the op of... ?

Idiocracy is nigh, resistance is futile?? Not buying it.

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

Least we forget, the real reason folks like flip say what they do, you must ask yourself are you willing to live under GOP rule just to make a point?

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

shadz what do think about what flip said here?

[-] 1 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

Looking for Revolutionary & Watershed change, that is lasting & fundamental is where flip is at !!! That is a Real & Revolutionary Change for The 99% - as opposed to PR managed lip-service from a 'Manchurian Candidate' that we 'can't believe in' !! No point picking fights with me numpty - they will only go one way !

From which, I'll briefly excerpt the following : "The TARP and subsequent taxpayer bailouts of the banking industry during the Bush and Obama administrations may be one of the largest economic crimes ever committed by American presidents. These bailouts are indicative of just how dysfunctional and subservient to the power elite our nation has become. Since the 2008 derivative collapse, the economic gap has steadily widened and the middle class is sinking to its lowest point in history.''

Spare me your faux-binary ; 'zero-sum-game' ; duopoly-deluded, claptrap factsy & try to focus on family and friends for now & forgive them their Republicon voting tendencies for a week or two & please, STOP endlessly advocating for Democraps on this site .. where we are expected to think and dream for things unsayable and unthinkable, in what passes for 'The Spectrum' of politics/polytricks in The U$A !!! Merry Christ-mash to you and yours !! Mwah !

It is the inaction created by your "duoply" bullshit that allows the 1% to rule you are just too stupid to see it.

[-] 5 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

Re. "duopoly" - are you denying it exists ?!!! Actually ''bullshit'' is denying that The 0.01% rule by using ''duopoly'' and their 1% lackeys !! Furthermore .. ''stupid'' is as ''stupid'' does and accepting the political status quo on an OWS site and expecting different results from the same actions - is beyond ''stupid'' !

I knew that you would most probably make me regret replying to you here & I'm really not minded to go through the same malarkey with you as before so the following links will suffice for the standing record :

Nice going ASSHOLES!!

So where is YOUR GRAND THIRD PARTY campaign?????????????

[-] 4 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

"Third Party" ?! A real 'Second Party' would be a good start !! The Democrap Pols 'On-The-Hill', are the fkn problem in handing your "government over to the 1%'' & not saying so equates to Party Hackery of The Highest Order !!! You just could not maintain your poise without losing your shape again it seems, so better you go back here and read some ..

Merry Xmas & work hard for The 99% in 2015 & beyond !! Enough of your hysteria Smith & start taking a view longer than Hitlary in 2016 and a wider view than The Sad Sell-Out 'DandR' kabuki .. that has got you so bamboozled, befuddled and bewitched. Now here's a wistful li'l tune for the season :

Further, get this loud & clear JiffySmith ; the difference between decent, heart-centred Dem Voters and The DNC is far wider than the difference between Dem Pols-On-The-Hill & their Repugnant colleagues !

Jeb extends his Christmas wishes and thanks for all you do, these early days of dumping on Hillary are priceless but the GOP can always count on you Shadz.

''Special Report: The rapid expansion of America’s right-wing media began in the 1980s as the Reagan administration coordinated foreign policy initiatives with conservative media executives, including Rupert Murdoch, and then cleared away regulatory hurdles.''

This shit is really very interesting Smith but just remember that your hallowed Democrap's are no less complicit in this MSM-MIC-Bankster CONstruct !!! how is fire works not news

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 9 years ago

personally... if I had to choose an evil to vote for... I usually side w/ the Dems..but not always.... a new party might be an answer ... but it will likely be bought and controlled by money as fast as it gets started ... a mob of intelligent American's standing up and saying enough... might do something ... and might become a un-buyable party... if we can focus on issues ... build consensus and pull from all sides ... Dems, Reps, Greens, Indepedants alike.... but it can't be just another party... it will end up like the greens.. good motive but no power

[-] -3 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

Are you defending Tokyo Rose or clearing your nebulous throat?

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 9 years ago

[-] 1 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 9 years ago

an actual comment from you states something... not just simple innuendo

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

But, you see what a waste of time. Bring an argument, stash the BS

[-] 3 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 9 years ago

ok fair enough ... WS :)

but why can't you understand... that Occupy is more interested in changing the system... than it is interested in joining the status quo... of supporting the best party...or attempting to compete by making a new one ...?

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

You do know that we live in a political world?

That Occupying Wall Street was a defiant (albeit castrated) response to the giant 1% robbery of the 99%, which was a political endeavor?

Even if you don't, what is your goal and means to get there???

[-] 2 points by BradB (2693) from Washington, DC 9 years ago

WS... think of Congress 50 years ago ... bills were written & passed on each specific issue... and they were usually under 5 pages long... and once those bills were defined ... they rarely changed ...because all were in agreement... Today Bills are thousand of pages long... and inter-mixed with topic matter all over the place ... as well as thoroughly embedded with ear-marks and favors ...

why ?..... so Congress can hide and slip in funding that otherwise could never pass ... and because of these slipped in and non popular items... these bills are never written in stone... they given time limits... and the process starts over again next sessions....

And BOTH parties are doing this & supporting it....

the political system is broken ... as well as marginally corrupted ...

The system needs fixed !!!

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2014/04/11/someone-tucked-an-obscure-line-into-the-farm-bill-that-allows-the-treasury-department-to-destroy-due-process/

Long bills allow them to hide stuff like this as well...the ssa and irs is going after people for relatives debts that once would be illegal to do so.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 9 years ago

No Solutions, Nothing!

Just BS!

Our Democracy needs PARTICIPATION!

Despite Complications, discouraging confrontations or bribery!!!.

quote :

Our Democracy needs PARTICIPATION!

agreed ... who said it doesn't ?

the difference here... is that you are suggesting that OWS participates by choosing a side and supporting that side...

and I say... that we participate by .... choosing each "issue" and support those that support that issue...regardless of political alignment...

THAT Is How To PARTICIPATE ... and How To GET things done ... and change the system !!

[+] -5 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

You not only accept the status quo you ensure it by ignoring the only way this system can be brought down by knocking out one of the two legs that hold it up as I have said many times. it is your efforts that keep this house of cards standing by telling people they have no choice when they could easily tell the truth that the GOP work to keep the rich rich and then the whole thing would fall, but that's what you fear that's why you work so hard to keep the 1% in power.

[-] 2 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

YOU ''accept the status quo" & you delude yourself with your "the only way this system can be brought down" - because you naively imagine sound, serious, reasonable and rational debate can get through to the racist, reactionary, right-wing, rump of Republicons .. who've been programmed generationally to act against their own long term interests, by the Corporate MSM & Church & B-S fear & loathing mongers !!! The ''house of cards'' is doomed - but the question is, will Democracy or Fascism replace it ?!! Of course the GOP work to ... ''keep the rich rich'' but you imagining Democrap Pols-On-The-Hill are anything other than 0.01% Corporate Co-opted, Corrupted and Controlled ... is illusory & The 99% aren't buying it now !

From which, consider that : ''huge numbers of Americans are now wary of both major political parties and increasingly upset about prospects in the long term. Many are convinced that a few big interests control policy. They crave effective action to reverse long term economic decline and runaway economic inequality, but nothing on the scale required will be offered to them by either of America’s money-driven major parties. This is likely only to accelerate the disintegration of the political system evident in the 2014 congressional elections.''

Happy Xmas to you and all who read this & hopefully you can stop talking shit at me in the New Year. I won't be holding my breath though, lol & have a good one factsy ;-)

[-] -3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 9 years ago

I would be naive to think the reason and logic would sway an idiot like you who don't give a damn about anything but your precious political party which you support no matter what evil they bring about you and your GOP buddies can go to hell!

You are so programed by the bullshit Hedges and his stupid fellows consistently puke out while the world around them burns they stick their heads up their asses and talk about how wonderful the stink is up there. The shithead W Bush would have never been in office but for shitheads like you.

oh merry christmas

[-] 3 points by ShadzSixtySix (1936) 9 years ago

Oh Dear - Not Again !!! A wee lol + a bah-humbug !! I don't have a ''political party'' - other than The 99% !

Have a good 2015 factsrfractious and .. good luck with your anal-cranial extraction exercises next year.

The effort to provide political education to the “lower echelons of power and get them to think differently about their role” is “a very touchy subject, because it leaves you open to accusations of promoting disloyalty among the police or among the army or what have you,” Wolin said. “And in a sense that’s true. But I think that nonetheless, without trying to, so to speak, baldly subvert the role of those powers in society, it is possible to reach them and to create a climate where they themselves have to come to grips with it. And I think that’s a task that’s arduous. It’s difficult. It’s even a little dangerous in our present age.”

“Given the way that ordinary people become exhausted by the simple task of living, working and trying to sustain families and neighborhoods in a way that just takes all of their energy,” he went on, “I do think it calls for some kind of group, or class, you could even call them, who would undertake the kind of continuous political work of educating, criticizing, trying to bring pressure to bear, and working towards a revamping of political institutions. I don’t mean to imply that there should be a disconnect between that group and ordinary people. I do think it requires that you recognize that such a group is necessary, in that the second task is to make sure that there are open lines of communication, of contact, of meetings between leaders and the people, such that there’s never a sense of estrangement or alienation, such that leading groups feel they’re free to pursue the good as they see it and for the good of the masses who do not.”
