A little off topic, but not too much. The elderly, say 65+ years old have no value in society; except maybe to their families. They have not valued in the work and generally ignored in society as a whole. I don’t know, maybe it has always been that way.

Having so many old folks is fairly new, say in the past 30 – 40 years. Our lifespan are longer and people are active much longer. Also the concept of retirement is fairly new. Up until about 1950 or so, retirement was rare. People worked until they couldn’t do it anymore and then relied on family to care for them in old age. It wasn’t that long ago that the norm was to have a grandparent live with you.

No, I’m not whining about getting old. I just get angry at those who think old folks should just sit a rocking chair. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going for a ride on my Harley. And stop complaining about me leaving my blinker on all the time. I’ll eventually turn.

( distancing from reality ) watch the attached vid.

Note this is also done in reverse - adults playing roles as children.

Yep, and it's been going on for a long time apparently. Back in 1920, Mary Pickford, who was 27 at the time, played a 12 year old in the film Pollyanna. It was probably a little easier to pull it off back then, though.

Yep it started way back and has only grown since. This also goes to all forms of marketing. In the movies, in TV shows, magazines as well as in ads.

Absolutely. It's the entire MSM machine involved. Including video games, the ultimate example of living in a fantasy world. I've heard anecdotes about US soldiers commenting on how blowing away Iraqis was "just like a video game."

"just like a video game."

Yep - absolutely another form of conditioning. Distancing from reality.

G-night.

Now, that's a coincidence. I was just about to bid you goodnight as well. It is 3 AM, after all.

G'nite DK.
