Who would have thunk they were feeding bees that stuff?

(Phys.org) —A team of entomologists from the University of Illinois has found a possible link between the practice of feeding commercial honeybees high-fructose corn syrup and the collapse of honeybee colonies around the world. The team outlines their research and findings in a paper they've had published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

i would love to keep bees btw what wonderful creatures. they make your garden super productive and produce valuable resources.

i thought they already decided that it was from the pesticides they use on gmo crops. however, if some moron wants to feed his bees high fructose corn syrup then they should lose their economic investment.

Still don't actually read the links???

In your case that's never surprising.

Is there a pill for "restless knee syndrome"?

i read it and i know bee keepers in ny and they never ever take all the honey. ever. the consensus on collapse disorder is it is a result of toxins used on gmo crops. these toxins increasing in use directly correlates to the collapse disorder increase since 2006. if some jack ass wants to feed his bees high fructose corn syrup that is his stupidity and greed.

You missed the part about "industrial bees".

I'm dizzy ;)

It can't be from a buzz, as the bee's are afraid to make noise these days.

They're afraid their boss will fire them.

The bosses have apparently gotten bored with firing only we humans.

hehe .. buzz maybe ;) ... but really because I was reading many many different sites about the bee reduction... and now another concept .. good post btw ;)

The real problem is that whatever is causing the issue in industrial populations, is also beginning to infect actual bees.

Thank god this oligarch cancer of the earth hasn't spread to every corner of the globe.

The trouble with being a geriatric billionaire is, you've got way too much time on your hands.

Which oligarch are you referring to?

[-] 2 points by Builder (4202) 10 years ago

"This oligarch cancer" groups them all under the same pestilence / illness.

Just thought maybe you had a name to tie in with this, it did start back in the 70's, and no particular name or corporation was mentioned.
