While visiting my probation officer for a manufacturing marijuana charge I couldn't help but notice the massive amounts of fellow rulebreakers filing through the office. One thing I never saw was a single rich looking person. No bankers who defrauded millions of citizens were waiting for their appointment. As the state took in what had to be tens of thousands of dollars in daily probation fee's I couldn't help but wonder how the bankers got off scot-free. My thoughts then turned to Occupy. What if Occupy organized events all over the country to Occupy probation offices, recriut the Millions of non violent offenders to join the movement. This could possibly help sway local politicans to back off the arrest factory of low level offenders especially since the bankers and rich do not have to abide by the same rules as the poor. Lastly Occupy should form a political party. The ONLY way to change the system is from within and it can be done.

Why not just campaign to change the drug laws and decriminalize them? I'm not aware of how the probation system works, but you have to be caught and convicted of a crime before you enter it. It isn't the fault of the probation department that few/no rich people have been arrested or convicted.

It's easy to convict people of certain crimes, decriminalize many of the drug crimes and transfer the resources to the white collar units. Interfering with the probation system would be just another PR problem.
