You guys shouldn't be pitting against the 1%. You should be aiming for reform in politics and in Washington. The rest will follow. The 99% slogan isn't working for a reason.....A lot of the wealthiest people in this country earned it. They were smart and they took their opportunities. Just like everyone else would if they could. They are just like you and I except they are more fortunate in their quests for success. You don't think they care about America or its people? You don't think Zuckerberg, who is no more than a couple years removed from drunk college partying cares about his country? Warren Buffet? There is no boogy man 1%, and as long as there is a monetary system things will be this way. Of course there are some that were born into it but realistically that will happen no matter what. There will always be people with more money than others and they will reproduce most of the time. So quit whining and being jealous of the super wealthy folks. Of course there is corruption with them but protesting at their lunches isn't going to fix anything. It is the system that is flawed. Who controls the system? Washington! Focus your energy on reform in the White House and the rest will follow. RE THINK YOUR STRATEGY, IT ISN'T THE 1%, IT IS THE POLITICS. WHITE HOUSE REFORM. Maybe instead of "we are the 99%" try "we are the citizens". Get everybody on your side rather than alienate fellow citizens. I think everybody is about fed up with congress and Washington. There is major opportunity there. If you reform Washington then the rest will follow...bank reform, wall st. regulations, insurance reform, tax reform etc....
The slogan "We are the 99%" is not correct. The 99 % in the world earns 2 dollar a day. If you are, for instance, a nurse you are more close to the 1 % then to the 99 %.

I agree we should be smarter about strategy. There is nothing wrong with being rich. Unless you exploited people, and the planet to get rich. And refused to pay your fair share into the system that enabled you to be rich. If you don't like what is happening in Washington vote for a third party candidate. That is the only realistic solution I see......
I recommend Jill Stein of the Green Party for POTUS, for example.
This is the one of the dumbest suggestions i have ever seen on here. You should be on a 99$ spring forum or moveon or something. The core of this movement is Anarchist not liberal.

Zuckerberg funded by the CIA? That is such a paranoid conspiracy theory. Find me one shred of factual information from a legitimate source that supports such claims, you can't. All I'm saying is that from what I'm witnessing first hand, and probably a large percentage of others as well, is the "we are the 99%" slogan isn't working. The movement is declining and the exposure level is not nearly the same this summer as it was the last. Also, people that I talk to face to face in Denver (a large city) are not mentioning it anymore or have lost interest. I believe this is because they need to revamp the message. As for the FED......who's going to be there to keep things from going to ** when people catch wind of a bank's insolvency and go to withdrawal all of their funds at the same time? Maybe audit it. Back to Washington.....everything starts and changes there....
This is a free country, as in you are free to go start your own, better thing.

Can you really tell me the movement is going in a upward direction compared to last summer? Do some deep thinking friend.....By the way, Oakland really set a great example last summer. Those kind of actions are really not going to get many people on board. You could have power in numbers, but the majority of people will not join in on nonsense like that. "Anarchism"....really get real. Now there is something that even less people will latch onto. That belief would never be possible. Not as long as you have society, which inherently is violent.

I hope the reason the mass media so picked up OWS an 99% is that there are many elements(even very high up) that want change.
I agree. Protest, march against chase.
But I cannot encourage progressives here to give up their right to vote. We would be giving chases tools (conservative pols) more power! We must take a party (dems) back from the chase/FED/plutocrats!

There are plenty of "millionaires for the 99%" The distinction/slogan is working fine.. No one is jealous, or envious of the wealthy. We just want them to pay their fair share as the 99% have. Everyone has suffered and struggled except the wealthy!
The govt isn't the problem! the wealthy who control the govt is the problem! The wealthy force conservative policies through that benefit 1% pluticrats and hurt the 99%. So the govt collusion is just in their passage of conservative policies. (dem or Repub).
Just vote out pro conservative policy politicians, and elect more progressives. And we will get what we need. Public health care option, 90% wealthy tax rate. money out of politics to start with.
