Republicans don't want your kids to go to GOOD schools. That's where they send their kids to ensure the next generation of corrupt, greedy leaders with fancy degrees. It's time to OCCUPY CONGRESS, OCCUPY SENATE, OCCUPY THE WHITE HOUSE, OCCUPY THE SUPREME COURT!! Thats where change and voices will be HEARD! Obama has failed to protect common citizens against the corrupt and greed driven right.. We must make a stand. Make a change

The entire Occupy movement should come down to DC and camp in Anacostia Park, site of the original Bonus March Encampment in 1932. Do what the Bonus Marchers did. Set up a clean, formal encampment. I'm sure there are enough sponsors who will pay for potties and showers.

Then, every day, all those at the encampment should get up at 6:30 a.m. and march down Maryland Avenue to the Capitol and spend the day visiting their Senators and Representatives. Every day until they get something done, like a nationwide Section 8 subsidy program so that everyone pays 1/3 of their monthly income for housing.

Let's get organized, Fellow Workers!

[-] 3 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

I like it, good idea!!!

[-] 2 points by OldLeftie (253) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

good. copy it and paste it everywhere. Let's get this moving!

You got it! Good ideas can take on a life of their own.

I say Occupy Occupy Occupy Occupy Occupy Occupy !!!!!!!

I don't believe OWS has any intention of "protesting" in a useful, productive manner. They'd rather scare school kids and frighten shoppers, close down streets and businesses, and eventually burn, pillage and plunder like England last summer. I didn't believe OWS was headed that way at first, but after today I sure do. Had they gone to DC and done exactly what you've suggested I was ready to take 6 weeks off from work to join in, but not now. I'm almost sick learning the depths of the meanness of the group. I'm sure today is my last day posting on this board as I'll probably be banned soon. It's a shame how this has turned out.

[-] 1 points by OldLeftie (253) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I think you're overreacting. Come down to DC and see what's being done. Don't lose heart because of the movement's birth pangs. It's not going to happen overnight, and every movement has its share of sociopaths.

[-] 1 points by TheFred (43) from Clinton, IL 12 years ago

I was told by Treedeer to go down to the OWS close to me and observe, that I was overreacting, so I did. What I saw I wanted to forget. It was the same people I watched trash the courtyards, gardens and streets for the last 30 years protesting everything-anything-nothing and running wild in the streets. They had vandalized, burned, and assaulted folks and that was just the short list. It was those same people camping out now calling themselves an OWS site. So, I decided that group maybe wasn't like the main OWS group, but they are. Maybe your camp out is sane, but after today on Wall Street, it no longer matters. Yes, I'm disheartened and disappointed. Angry is another word I'd use, and I rarely get angry. You don't really know me, so when I say you've lost me that really means there has to be a terribly good reason. For me, I hope OWS is over as it will never have any validity now. I just hope the good folks will wait a while and start a real movement. I'm sorry for me, but more sorry for the decent OWS who've lost face, and for our country.

[-] 1 points by Che559G (15) from Fresno, CA 12 years ago

oldleftie, section 8 to pay 1/3 of monthly income for housing? you mean a handout?

[-] 1 points by OldLeftie (253) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

not at all, but unless you're ready to give me your personal assurance that you are in fact a supporter of OWS and not just another troll, I'm not going to waste my time in explanation.

[-] 1 points by Che559G (15) from Fresno, CA 12 years ago

If you're not going to give an apologia, it probably is not a strong arguement in the first place oldleftie

[-] 1 points by OldLeftie (253) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

you are, of course, welcome to your opinion, Che559G, but I am not here to argue with opponents of OWS. I am here to work with my fellow workers, and am tired of dealing with people who are only interested in being rude. So think what you like. Your syntax leads me to believe that you have no desire for a courteous discussion. I, of course, may be wrong, but the condescending tone and the effete vocabulary certainly does nothing to allay my fears.

[-] 1 points by Che559G (15) from Fresno, CA 12 years ago

I am interested in hearing all arguements pro and con, but if you don't want to layout and apologia, then it's all good.

[-] 3 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

0bama hasn't failed, he's doing exactly what he was put in office ( by his owners) to do. Bring down the USA.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

SO raines, who did you vote for in 08?

[-] 1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

It wasn't the bamster.

[-] -1 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

Too ashamed to say McCain-Palin : )

or did you just throw away your vote?

[-] 1 points by bre0001 (50) from Brooklyn, NY 12 years ago

Least he didn't throw away the country with his vote like the morons who put an ineligible in ofiice.

[-] 0 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

I thought that you could figure that out on your own.

[-] 1 points by nucleus (3291) 12 years ago

You actually voted for the woman who understands foreign policy because she could see Russia from her state? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

[-] 0 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

She never said that. tina fey said it on snl. 0bama thinks there are 57 states in the union.

[-] 1 points by nucleus (3291) 12 years ago

Palin on her insight into Russian Politics:

FYI That's NOT Tina Fey.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

I just did. I just needed your last post to confirm.

Thank God they didn't win.

I could only imagine how much worse it would be now. We would definitely be heavier into the war footing. McCain would have surely attacked Iran by now so we'd be facing that third front. And so steeped in War, the economy would be a back seat. And Sarah Palin, yeah, let's turn our country over to amateurs.

We still have hope and a country to save, thanffully. Obama took over this country after Bush ran it into a ditch.

I suppose you voted for Bush as well, it would only follow.

[-] 1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

0bama has run the country into a ditch. What are you thoughts on Solyndra and Fast and Furious? How about 15 trillion in debt and growing? 9% umemployment? it was 5% under bush.

[-] 1 points by humanprogress (55) 12 years ago

The trillions of debt are necessary spending to get the economy going and pay for the damages the Bush era created. Because the republicans are sabotaging the president, the cost to bring back the economy's good health increases.

[-] 0 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

If you spend more money than you take in, eventually you go bust. spending more money is not a solution. Republicans are not sabtaging 0bama, he is self destructing.

[-] 1 points by humanprogress (55) 12 years ago

if obama doesn't spend, according to the current system, the worse off we are. also you have to remember that there was an agreement in the last months of the bush administration that the government will bail out banks and big corporations. so obama just had to carry-on with that agreement which costed us trillions!!!!!!

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

Back to the narrative. Well, the news today, Solyndra, dead end, no smoking nothing, just bad business. Businesses fail, heard of that before. It's called the free market your so in love with.

Fast and furious, let's see, getting your hopes up there raines?

Did you vote for Bush? (tell the truth now...)

[-] 0 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

Solyndra is not a dead end.The current administration was advised not to give them money. The failure was forseable. yes I voted for Bush. happy now?

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

I already knew it. But yes it does make me happy because now I do know and I don't need to speculate. That, and it's nice to get the truth because it's just honest.

Well, then you probably know how I feel about Bush. It was gut wrenching as I witnessed the United States Supreme Court elect him president in 2000. As the vote came out and was counted later, Gore won the popular vote. Bush stole the presidency.

Then 9/11. WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot. That whole day was a WTF.

We will all be collectively better off years and years from now as we distance ourselves from horrible tragic presidency. He will go down as one of the worst. James Buchanan holds the honor of the absolute worst. He lit the fuse that torched our country in the Civil War. Buchanan was just fine with slavery. If Union had not won the Civil War we would have lost our country period.

But Bush has very bloody hands none-the-less. Mostly Muslims so not many care so much. Sad truth.

[-] 0 points by BofL (434) 12 years ago

We lost our country when The Bank of England won The Civil War (last battle of the Revolutionary War). And everything you 2 are debating is a sidenote. The Bank of England established a counterfeit government, D.C., and the Republic has been sawn through by "democracy," framed the way you two (the majority of our countrymen) play it. You have no idea. We've been had-bankrupt since 1930. There IS no choice at the polls. You are chattel slaves of The Bank of England-or it's subsidiary. Start over and learn real history- you'll find that the rights we do have are just waiting to be rediscovered. http://occupywallst.org/forum/interesting-read-about-the-constitution-and-corpor/#comment-413890. Reassert your sovereign status. Learn how youve been tricked into giving it up for this rigged theater of tragedy and farce we call democracy.

it is not Obama that failed you, it is you that failed yourselves

[-] 2 points by artistsh (43) 12 years ago

He never said he could do it alone - and it would be impossible for him to do much when we have a Congress refusing to do anything close to compromising.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

For 2 years he had the congress and the senate. 0bama care is a fiasco. Did you know that in 0bamacare is a 3.8% tax on the sales price of your house, not your profit, the sale price. That should be a real boon to the already destroyed ( by fannie and freddie) housing market. diagnosed with cancer after age 78? too bad . no medical care for you under 0bamacare.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Sounds absolutely libertarian. So what's your beef?

[-] 0 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

What sounds libertarian? What is a 3.8% federal sales tax on the selling price of a house doing in "healthcare"?

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You'll have to ask the lobbyist who paid to put it there.

Letting the old man die is what I was talking about. Very libertarian.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

not all forms of cancer are terminal. detected early many live long lives, but not with 0bamacare.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Very libertarian.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

No, death panels.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Death panels from the insurance corporations, just like now.

Very libertarian.

They just get to pass the proverbial buck.

Very libertarian.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

My mother ( in her 80's) had a heart attack and ws treated for it. She's been doing just fine . Under 0bama care she would have received NO treatment.. By the way my mother volunteers at her local hospital, and belongs to various organizations that do charitable work. `

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

My Father in-law died when the insurance corporation cut him off from treatment.

Now they can pass off the blame on the government.

That's what they paid for.

You keep missing that part.

I told you to ask the lobbyist.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

0bama care was not written by a lobbyist. The blue print was written by robert creamer who worked for george soros's open society.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Keep telling yourself that.

Someday it "might" be true.

Insurance corporations are just such angels.........:)

So, raines, which healthcare plan do you like, Michelle Bachman's?

Or, how about Paul Ryan, like his?

Mitt Romney?

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

I like my own health insurance, which i pay for. I could pay less for my plan if i chose to. People without insurance must , by law be treated by doctor. when i turn 65 i can choose to keep my insurance or go on medicare, under obamacare there is NO choice.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

Employer based plan?

Also, you are a rarity. I suppose that you like how much your paying for it as well.

Most people, which means most who read this, do not like their insurance plan even if it's only because it costs too much. The cost is the biggest and most valid complaint about our healthcare. This is the crisis.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

No. I pay it ALL by myself. The cost equals the care that I get, which is excellent.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

So your a millionaire and the cost is chump change to you. Like I said your the rarity. Most who are reading right here now, are severely burdened by skyrocketing healthcare cost. Not yours, it's EXCELLENT!

I think the tea party is for you. They want to abolish SS. I'm sure you don't need that chump change like the rest of us.

[-] -1 points by raines (699) 12 years ago

Sorry , I'm not a millionaire. It would be nice if I was. I have a mortgage, I pay insurance on mycar, home owners insurance, local taxes plus state and federal taxes. I buy what i can afford and ouside of a mortgage , carry no debt. The cost is not chump change for me. The state I live in is among the most heavily taxed state. My health insurance is goes uo 15% every year and is more than my mortgage. as far as I know the TEA party people do NOT want to abolish S.S.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

raines says: as far as I know the TEA party people do NOT want to abolish S.S.

Oh, but the Tea Bagger Party does want to "absolutely" abolish Social Security.

[-] 1 points by RedJazz43 (2757) 12 years ago

Obama was always at best nothing but a moderate Democrat out of the Chicago machine. Those who expected more of him were only chasing their own illusions.

[-] 1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

Obama never failed me because i have always perceived him as the right-wing pandering authoritarian that he has since proven himself to be. During the 2008 campaign I listened closely to him and realized that he was actually saying things that were much different from what he implied he was saying.

As a life-long social justice advocate I hated not voting for the first American of non-white lineage who was obviously on track to be president of the U.S. but what he said and what he insinuated was so different that I could not allow myself to be conned by him.

I also really hate it that he proved me right beyond my worst forebodings.

No, we failed ourselves and we're still failing. We still don't get it. We are the real power - the 99%. Why on earth do we feel compelled to beg on our knees from 1%. Get off your knees and use your real power - "The Nuclear Option". Anyone can complain and protest. We've done that for 100's of years. It doesn't get you very far. The real battle is inside our heads. The 1% is just trivial distraction.

Presidents don't have full authority to make and pass laws that's why there's a thing called congress. Although presidents can veto, it's not wise for them to practice that power all the time. In addition to not having full authority, Obama is handcuffed by the Republicans who serve the elite.

Obama only inherited the mess from the Bush era. He is doing an excellent job but the Republican/elite-owned media won't stop sabotaging his presidency and the negative publicities. You think the recession is not induced by the republicans? Think again! Typical americans don't read between the lines cause we were trained to put so much trust in our government and media.

[-] 2 points by 53percenter (125) 12 years ago

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

True, I hope we don't all have amnesia about how this went down. The right wing emboldened by the tea party tried to Obama off at the knees. The republican party became the party of NO. They obstructed every which way they possibly could. All calumniating in the debt ceiling fiasco which once again almost brought our country to financial collapse. We got our credit rating downgraded which really is a farce since these are the same jerks who gave those worthless derivatives AAA ratings so the filthy rich could swindle people's hard earned money away.

How many times do we have to repeat these horrible mistakes before we learn?

Please, everyone, learn to seek the truth! Research, fact check!

Could not agree with you more.. I post regularly on a novice trading site the kind where the little guys try and help each other out. here is an exert from today.

"Title: Better tomorrow

Think you have a better Market tomorrow anyway. Could Be wrong timing often is, short and long term, but as UPN says watch the currencies for your cue at the moment. TIC statement will be critical.... Congress pissing about with a Balanced Budget amendment with super majority requirement to raise the Debt Limit lol, thinking they have control over that in the future. They may need to raise the Debt limit before Jan 1st if the TIC is bad.. they lost the strategic reduction option in 2006.

Tooo little tooo late is the cry.. Dont get me wrong a balanced budget is a great Idea doing this now will help a lot in 6 or 7 years time, but the interest rates are going to force them to raise the debt limit every year until then EVEN IF THEY BALANCE THE NEXT SEVEN BUDGETS in a row. To put that into perspective they balanced 5 or 6 in the last 50 years.

So impose a super majority prevision on raising the Debt limit, but you may as well pass one on letting the sun shine too. at least the sun will let them have their own way 50% of the time."

.

Stupid idiots in congress are soo off base.. they think they still have some control over this nations economy but they sold it to China. The Only reason OBAMA is in China at the moment is to borrow MORE MONEY for what is yet to come......

Do you remember all the talk about a DOUBLE DIP recession, well we are almost ready for the second DIP. Please remember the PHRASE DOUBLE DIP, then I wont have to say told you so at the same time the FED does!!!!!

Libertarianism, and none of them posting here seem to realize it.

So blinded by Paul.

[-] 0 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

He's a scoundrel. Most probably don't realize that one of his campaign managers didn't have good insurance. He died leaving his family over 350,000 dollars in medical bills that MUST be payed. They did a charity, and brought in only 40K. This is Pauls medical reform.

We will be dropping people off in the streets to die. Of course we'll say we're sorry. We feel real compassionate about it but not lift a finger to help. Libertarianism. You are on your own, no social contract, but do follow the crazy laws anyway and be quiet. If you have to die just do it quietly somewhere where we don't have to see your waste of a life. Too bad you made bad choices in your life, live with it, or die, just be quiet and go now.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

You should look into the marketing of "choice". I did.

It's not a pretty picture.

[-] 1 points by Puzzlin (2898) 12 years ago

Oh yeah, it's freedom !!! We are ALL FREE !!!

I know how they sell it. It's truly wild really. The truth is your free to die and we're free from worrying or caring about it whether you die or not. So everybody is just free and happy. You freely live with all the choices, good, bad, indifferent, and again it's your complete utter freedom. Free!!!

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

There is no such thing as free in a country with the worlds highest level of marketing penetration.
