I've seen some argue that what we need is to build one nuclear plant every week for the next five years if we are to get our carbon emissions under control. They base that on the total number of giga-watts? the nation, or the world use every day.

But here is the thing - we have all heard of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and now Dai Ichi.

And everything man creates will decay - it's just a question of when?

And we still do not have a repository for spent fuel - let alone one that can withstand ten thousand years of natural geologic processes and the natural decay of our own constructs.

I think wind, solar, and hydro are much better alternatives - but I'm not an electrical engineer.
