Alex Jones is an assclown that spreads lies and half-truths with no goal but ratings.. Ron Paul would make a great Grandpa, but he is an awful leader and politician that is too preoccupied with ideological purity. If you think ANY limitations on corporations is Communism, then yes, you are just as bad as Communists. Enough of these stupid cults trying to take over OWS. The only thing most of us agree upon so far is that you have all been a part of the problem.

For libertarians, you have to be an extremist. Anything else is 'watered down', in the words of one libertarian. Pick and choose: communism, fascism, anarchism, or libertarianism. If you don't, you'll get attacked with vicious personal insults and be forced to read some 80 page document describing economics.

In short, avoid the libertarians. You'll catch acne.

"Pick and choose: communism, fascism, anarchism, or libertarianism."

If Democracy is not on the menu, I'll take Anarchism, please.

I would also, if it was possible.

Agreed. OWS supporters need to oppose anti-Fed demagoguery. "END THE FED" extremists are not to be trusted.

i agree - it is an incorrect way of looking at the problems facing the country and a distraction. try to convince the paul zealots of that - and do not bother them with the facts!

"END THE FED" is a hotbed for violent racist right-wing extremists.

i have had too many discussions with them both at the park and on this site - at the park they do a kind of call and response with their weird talking points. some have paid attention to me but most are crazed. seems to me that it is a real problem - the problems facing the country and ows are to a great extent economic. we need to understand money and the economic system in order to solve them. that is not easy since there is so much bad info coming out of mainstream economics - have you read graeber's book or about the populist movement of the 1890's - they fought the same battles we face today.

Yes, they are a real problem. I would say that the bad info is all tied to libertarians, both in mainstream and heterodox economics. What is the title of the book?

[-] 1 points by flip (7101) 12 years ago

the book is "debt the first 5000 years" - really interesting about the history of money and all of our misconceptions about it. i know enough about the paul crowd - i will look at the link when i get time

the FED should be under government control

"END THE FED" is being promoted by pro-elite libertarian interests who are dishonest about their intentions.

The Fed is under government control, the president, who is democratically elected, selects the Fed chairman. The problem is that Bernanke and Greenspan are libertarians.
