I wouldn't donate anything. I have nothing to back this up, i think the OWS movement started out as a joke. It how ever grew out of hand and turned into something much different then it was originally intended to do. If you want to donate, do it in person, buy food, tents, medical supplies and deliver them to an occupy movement near you.

ROFL! Gee I wonder why it's going to Nicaragua? mmmmm? Hey next time you wanna cross that bridge I can deal with the cops for ya. I'll just sell ya the bridge first! Then they can't stop you once ya own it! Unless they get a warrant of course!

Can you imagine? This site has been up for nearly a month. Why is this the first time anyone looked at this? I will tell you why. Everyone is so busy yelling The Ron Paul people, The Birchers , The hippies, The anti war, The anti government, etc. God, these folks would be so easy to rob blind... I mean rob blind again... A person is smart and reasonable a mob is not. a lynch mob which is what this is quickly becoming is much worse. They need to watch out for the backlash. We are the 53 percent. We are watching. expect us. expect us at the voting booth.

Not on my computer...it went here...https://www.wepay.com/donate/ows for me.

[-] 1 points by makmak (57) 12 years ago

Yeah, but after that it goes to nicanet. It says that it is going to do this right on the http://nycga.cc/donate/ page.

Why can't they get their own donation page?

Geez, they just got STARTED and you want everything to be PERFECT already??? Do you have any idea as to the obstacles that are being put on their path??? I hear that PayPal has refused to cooperate, just as they had refused to cooperate with Wikileaks. If this is true, eBay and PayPal may end up paying a hefty price, losing millions of customers who will boycott them...

Listen, isn't the whole reason that you guys are protesting is because you feel like 99% of the people in this country have been ripped off? Wouldn't you say that it may be prudent to make sure that you aren't being ripped off again?

There is no way that I would contribute to anything without knowing that it is going to go towards the intended target. That is why there are disclosure laws in this country and why non-profits have to account for their spending.

Don't be naive. There are laws in place for a reason. It's usually because somebody else ripped somebody else off and they had to write laws to prevent it from happening again.

And to answer your first question, yeah, if you are going to ask me to donate then I do want it to be perfect already.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

Then, makmak, you can relax 'cause I WON'T be asking you to donate. NOTHING is ever perfect in this world... But good luck at trying to find it anyway.

And by the way, I agree with your idea of prudence. But prudence AIN'T paranoia.

[-] 1 points by makmak (57) 12 years ago

I can tell you are young. I'll check back with you in 10 years and see if you aren't a bit paranoid too. People you believe you can trust will rip you off. Isn't that the whole reason for the protests? Betrayel of the American people's trust?

Good luck with your cause. I mean that sincerely. :)

Well, thanks for the compliment. I am well into my sixties but I try to stay young at heart... I've had life experiences that would be enough to make ten men paranoid, but I refuse to let betrayals extinguish the light that is in me, in you, in each and every one of us. When people act in the wrong way, I try to remember that they are not really "evil": they simply "know not what they do" and need my compassion more than my judgements.

[-] 1 points by makmak (57) 12 years ago

I'm in my 50's and I've seen evil. I really didn't think it was possible until I met certain people. Yes, there may have been a reason they were like they were but they chose a path that was evil and, in turn, spread misery with everything they touched. (Think Bernie Madoff with a smaller portfolio. Sigh.)

What was so unnerving is that no red flags went up. They were so good at their baloney that my gut instincts were completely caught off guard. And it wasn't just my family they hurt. They hurt many people ... much more than they were able to hurt us.

So, yeah, I'm careful now. Whether it is $5 or $5,000, I want to know where the money goes and how it is being handled.

Peace.

Maybe so, but I have and contiinue to offer my assistance with various functions. Not asking for a cent, and I am no stranger to peaceful struggle.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

Then PEACE to you, Siam -- - Shalom --- Salaam.
That's where it must begin: inside each one of us.

[-] 1 points by Slam1263 (196) 12 years ago

Uhm, that is SLAM, but thank you for making me answer what I have charged. Voices such as your's will always be needed.
