Threats aren't protected as free speech. This was a dumb kid, wanna be rap music star. .This was stupid, but probably not intended as a real threat. However, the cops have no way of knowing that. So, it's probably good the cops investigate it.
People get arrested all the time for making threats toward elected officials. Ted Nugent had to convince the FBI he really didn't intend to shoot any politicians. The kid will probably get off witha warning.
If this is the case, then every rap dude out there should be arrested.
