Ayn Rand's so called philosopy....GREED is GOOD, Commies/ aka Socialists, Social Dems/Dems/Unions/ anyone that's not rich are bad...But wait I need my SSI and Medicare.... cough cough cough.... Ayn was a Hypocrite, just like her spawn are. "Don't touch my Medicare.!"

If you read the articles, you'd realize I don't support her because her protaganists are based on a serial killer that chopped up a little girl, collected ransom from her parents, and returned her corpse to them. William Hickman. She admired him so much she visited him in prison frequently.

She was a strange bird, wasn't she? She denied cigs. caused lung cancer and smoked like crazy, when she finally was dying from lung cancer she asked for help and got Medicare and SSI. So much for Randian thought when face with the grim reaper.

Who would have thought that a fiction writer from another time and place would somehow be adopted as a visionary to be followed today? Ron and Rand Paul both say that they're fans. Paul Ryan says he's a fan. In September, John Boehner spoke about America's job creators being on strike because of over-regulation, apparently referring to a twist in the plot of Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged."

Ayn Rand was born in Russia and she was a young teenager at the time of the Communist Revolution in 1917. Her somewhat privileged bourgeois life was turned upside down by the collectivization that the Soviets implemented in the 1920's and she emigrated to America. In my mind, Atlas Shrugged, published in the late 1950's is strictly a novel of its time and a product of Rand's own bitterness. The 1950s was a time when anti-communist hysteria reached its highwater mark. The novel is set in an alternate version of America where creeping collectivization and regulation is stifling the motivation of the most productive.

Rand described her 'philosophy' as a single-minded pursuit of self-interest. She believed that compassion was immoral and a weakness. That could be ok as an artistic vision for a fiction novel, but a behavioral psychologist might classify it as pathology in real life. Rand was interested in her own self-promotion as much as anything and she elaborated on her ideas quite a bit. Here’s a noteworthy quote: "Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities." When I read this I have to wonder whether her current followers have cherry picked from her ideas because they enjoy her justification of greed, while ignoring her core belief in individual freedom.

Look at the modern conservative movement, and its devotion to the 1%, and it doesn’t seem so strange anymore that they would decide to take an Ayn Rand fiction novel and use it as a blueprint for society, They’re up to something and they have no regard for the negative impact this philosophy is producing.

If you read the first link, you'd find out that she is a lot more twisted than you could have ever imagined.

Ayn Rand (a dyed in the wool atheist) was indeed a low life, no question about it, whose libertarianism (selfish greed is the greatest virtue) was put into blender with the rise of evangelical religious right, to create the potent concoction of Republican voting base, bought and paid for by the 1%, the owners of corporations. Counter this low life with our own religious campaign called WHAT WOULD JESUS DO and bring back the pious and misguided to the true path of Jesus, who cared about the poor, down trodden and sick and not for the moneyed elite and the powerful.

" bought and paid for by the 1%, the owners of corporations." Everything else was great(really great). But this whole sentence, I completely disagree with, for a couple reasons. Firstly, you're addressing the 1% as a homogeneous group of Republicans. This doesn't exactly pan out. In fact, many of the Uber-rich(Warren Buffett, George Soros, etc.) are probably more liberal than the average protester. The biggest problem is that when amoral corporations, rather than individuals, make up a larger part of the contributions to politicians, we end up with amoral legislation based on the competing interests of companies and going to the highest bidder without any regard for what's good for the country.

Also, the 1% are not necessarily the owners of the corporations. Corporations, by definition, are publicly traded and owned by the shareholders. This includes the 401Ks of everyone and I also own a lot of stock. So not only do I support OWS as as concerned American, I also support it as a shareholder of stock. The less oversight and regulation these companies face, the managers(as opposed to the owners) feel more compelled to act more unethical than the competition and less concerned with my interests.

I'm heartened to see few jumping to her defense.

I keep checking this thread, waiting for one of them to post something. It's just indefensible.

Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

Join

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link above, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet; it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link, so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for by e-mail from the group in the 2nd link, and then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the strategy of the 1st link as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your Occupation & Generation.
